1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Green Cord Fair Weather Jacket - Pattern by Vegbee :) on: October 14, 2008 06:31:42 PM
Here is another one finished Monday from the pattern over at sweetshop (vegbee's etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5098546). It is MUCH better than the first ( see http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=65525&l=d64fd&id=545134923) and only has ONE mistake Smiley

I LOVE LOVE this pattern and...am very fond of the green cord and flannel lining. It is for my little boy...

2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Thomas Jacket - FROM VEGBEE'S PATTERN :) on: October 07, 2008 04:49:02 PM
Ok, it is my first one...and it has issues BUT it was made from Vegbee's wonderful pattern (read: go buy it now) and I wanted to show off and thank her for letting me try it out. It is not yet finished with buttons etc...but it a start.

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Shop and Site Critique on: June 02, 2008 05:40:49 AM
Hello all. I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on my new site and etsy shop (you can get to the shop from the "shop" page)...it is currently only glass (I will add yarn and fabric once the weather gets colder). I would love opinions on the look and feel, product photos, website design/functionality and pricing.

http://www.dyelotcollective.com and actual shop http://www.dyelotcollective.etsy.com

I am a web and graphic designer - so all the design elements are mine...the font was designed by a friend and bought in trade (gotta love trade) and I have also done up biz cards to match using recycled scrap paper.

Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated...and don't be shy. As a freelancer - I am VERY good at receiving constructive criticism. Smiley
4  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Fusing with Aluminum Foil on: June 02, 2008 05:06:53 AM
Just wanted to share a test I did - I wanted to see what aluminum foil would do when fired between two pieces of clear (I love how copper turns a lovely purple) and here's the result...

Looks like the aluminum foil melted and pooled into a kind of gunky web  Smiley I actually think it looks pretty cool!

5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Casting a Glass Ring on: June 01, 2008 06:05:36 PM
Hello all. I found an old resin ring of mine that I would like to attempt to make a mold of in order to cast some glass rings out of some recycled glass. I have a glass kiln and fuse quite a bit, however, I have never done any casting...and have never made a mold of an item expressly for that purpose.

Can anyone help me figure out the best way to do this and the proper materials to use? My kiln only goes up to 1800 degress - so firing a ceramic mold myself wouldn't be an option - I don't think.

If anyone has kiln casting experience...I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks!

6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Fused Jewelry - Pinks :) - Image HEAVY! on: June 01, 2008 01:49:51 PM
Hello all. I am new(ish) to fusing - been doing it for a couple months now...and I think I have found my new obsession!

I found a women selling her fusing studio (Kiln, glass, accessories) on Craigslist for a really good price - I figured it must be meant to be (see, I live in Maine - and the likelihood that someone would be selling this so close to me is unheard of). The kiln is not huge, but can fit a good number of pendants in it at a time - it doesn't have a digital thingy - but that's ok. I have found it forces me to attend to the kiln and learn what is actually going on at certain temps.

Anywho - I am hoping to post here more and more...I am kinda jumping over from the clothing forum (I also sew quite a bit). I look foward to sharing more stuff as I get a bit more brave with my designs Grin

Here are a few in Pink that I think have come out nicely...Thanks!

(I should mention that all the pendants can come off the stainless cable they are on - and shown with. I created the "channel" for the cord to go thru with a piece of fiber paper between the layers of glass prior to fusing).

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / "Ernest" Volvo 245 Wagon Shirt w/ Stencil on: February 03, 2008 01:32:29 PM
A very good friend of mine has an obsession with his Volvo 245. Lovingly, he has named him "Ernest"...I thought a photo of his would make a great stencil -so, here you go.

The bleach bled a bit...but I really like the effect on my old brown shirt.

9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Headphones on: February 03, 2008 10:59:07 AM
Here is a light stencil done with bleach. It was my first and I was afraid to use too much bleach but I think it turned out cute despite the lightness.

Here is the kiddo...just up from a nap - hence the dazed look and crazy hair Smiley
