1  Colorful, quickie skirt!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: November 21, 2009 02:08:27 PM
It's been a while since I got to sit down and make something for myself (besides the quilt I needed for school) so when my roommate forced me to go to the Woodie Awards I thought I'd take the opportunity.  Probably not my best work (in fact it's actually pretty wonky) but I did it really quickly the night before. I'm in love with the fabric!

I need better pictures soon! I've only got one picture and it's from my cell. It's not QUITE so bad as it looks here.

Ohhhh man! I was spoiled. =) I received a few days ago and couldn't be more in love with Aimee! Ready for pictures?!

Here is everything:

Jewelry box (filled with awesome extras):

A close up of one of the necklaces:

(^^^There was an awesome adorable shroom charm I didn't get a picture of but love!)

Recycled plastic bag shopping bag! I love this! I wanted one and I don't know how she guessed!:

Ok...now you have to ignore my just woke up pictures!

Hippy hat... yeah it's a bit big but I love it and I think I might be able to sew a small seam to fix the sizing:

And finally... the killer scarf that actually makes me miss the cold weather! Check out the awesome peace signs! and ignore my hair =)

Thanks so much Aimee! Everything was beyond what I even hoped I would get!

"I used to collect broken pencil nibs" (back) "I have no idea why and I still have a pot of them somewhere"

"Stop hating me soon. I miss you." (back) "And I still love you. My life isn't the same without you."

"I'm scared that the only romantic relationship I'll have is where I love him and he's just using me. I want to be loved too."

"I want to make a difference in the world."

4  Black Lace Classic Prom Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: May 12, 2009 07:52:13 PM
Allo!  Grin Thankfully, prom is finally done! Between working full time, going to school, finals, etc... the quality is definitely lacking. But it's what I wanted and I had fun making it. Way more fun than last years (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=241392.msg2659590#msg2659590) though I think more people liked that one. Oh well! What can you do?

Off-hand I can't quite remember what the pattern is, but it's a Vogue, with a few alterations for size and fabric weight.

I apologize in advance for the sh*tty pictures!

The front (the five little girls next door were teaching me how to pose):

The back:

A few of the girls:

Just for fun:

Prom was shaping up to be a bit icky when my date bailed last minute, my boyfriend was too old to go, after prom plans fell to pieces and limo prices sky rocketed... Thankfully, my best friend Lesley jumped in to save the day as a perfect date and supplier of our mode of transportation: our very own short bus.

Any questions, comments, or criticisms are more than welcome!

Love love love!  Kiss

7  Re: Book Lovers Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by purevitality on: April 09, 2009 11:09:42 AM
I'm going to be honest... I'm not sure if I should post pictures because I don't want everyone to be jealous. Every whose already received got great things! It's just that luckdragon COMPLETELY spoiled me!

The books (Bel Canto and Jitterbug Perfume)! Her choices were spot on! Today is my first day of break so I'm finally able to start reading!

In this (^^^) picture you can also see the fantastic bookmarks (note the great fight club quote) and the book strap that I've been using all week!

My younger brother's friend, Louis, with an action shot of the book strap. He was confused. Good sport though.

And the fantastic book tote:

It matches the book strap and the reading journal she made me! I'm absolutely in love with the lining fabric. Unfortunately, as luckdragon can tell you, technology and I don't get along very well and my pictures are less than wonderful. So it definitely doesn't do the tote justice.

She also sent fantastic pens and a Texas Longhorns hat!

Karen, if you have better pictures, please do post! I want everyone to see how great the package was. Again, thanks so much!

8  Please please please help me before I cry in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by purevitality on: December 21, 2008 11:56:06 AM
Ohhhh PMS. And prom dresses. Both horrible things.

I've been to prom the last four years and my grandparents haven't gotten to see my dresses yet. I'm trying really hard to get my dress finished by January 5th when they leave for Florida.

So... it's my first time making my own pattern. Can anyone offer help with my mock up?Huh

The actual dress is black, this fabric is just left over from last year's dress. The bra cups are where the gathered, overlapping chest pieces will go. Does anyone have a better idea on how to do them? It's not working out well for me!

Another view:

Where I need the most help!
Sorry about the back bra shot! I had to leave it on to pin the straps to, otherwise they don't stay flat. How do I make them do that on their own???

The fabric for the actual dress (though the part you see in the pictures will just be black satin)

Thanks so much!!

Happy holidays!

9  Very Proud of My Momma- Come Praise!! =D in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by purevitality on: December 01, 2008 01:42:16 PM
My mom is a very busy woman. But she recently took some time to start making over her house a bit. There's still a way to go... but here's what she's done so far:

The kitchen nook:

She did the curtains, her and my dad painted and stained the table and chairs, she covered the seat cushions, and of course...arranged the roses!  Smiley

Close up of one of the chairs:

Sewed a slip cushion for the couch:

Thoughts??  Cheesy

10  Fuzzy lined, Funky Slippers- How to? in Shoes: Discussion and Questions by purevitality on: October 15, 2008 08:56:03 PM
I LOVEEEE these slippers and I think with some funky fabrics they'd be adorable Christmas gifts when paired with some homemade soaps/etc.

These, in particular, are from Restoration Hardware and look pretty simple. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks very much!

Merry crafting!  Cheesy
