11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Holy clay Batman! and others (pics a plenty) on: February 06, 2008 05:50:55 PM
I've been working on making clay beads of different favorite comic characters.  Here's who I have so far-

Green Arrow (not perfected yet)-

Robin & Spoiler-

Spoiler is my fav out of them all! I haven't made anything out of them yet.

Comments?  Complaints?
12  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Valentine Dragon! Silly Kitty! And More! *LOTS O PICS* on: January 31, 2008 08:41:26 AM
I apololgize in advance for the terrible pics.  My camera is great at people pics, terrible at close up craft pics.  Everything was made out of Fimo Soft.

Valentine Dragon- Made because I had too much red and couldn't think of anything else

Silly Kitty- Strongly resembles one of my cats.  I didn't support her enough in the oven, so her legs bent.  I like her better this way

Aes Sedai Ring- I love WHeel of time

X-mas pins for neices and nephew (Spidey was given to my nephew, the girls got the candy canes)  The white parts glow in the dark

Comment, suggestions, etc accepted
13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Crochet ATC or My first ATC on: January 05, 2008 07:17:33 AM
I've thought about experimenting with ATCs every time I see one on this site.  I at first thought to try making a clay one (I was recently bitten by the poly clay bug) but wasn't inspired.  Then I thought, why not crochet?  I haven't seen any around, so I risked it.  Think I should make more?  Think I should leave it to the experts?

A little blurry, my camera doesn't like close-ups-

I haven't named it yet.  I'm thinking of putting a fabric stiffener on it.  I also haven't come up with a way to put my info on the back of it.  Anyone have an ideas?
14  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mickey Wall Hanging/Pin Display on: December 07, 2007 08:59:15 AM
I couldn't figure out where to post this, so here it is.

My Hubby and I work at the Magic Kingdom and my MIL has collected pins for most of the places hubby has worked (except for the most recent).  For x-mas, we decided to get pins for the current places we work and make a display for them.  First idea was to do a shadowbox, but we needed something unbreakable (they're flying in).  Here's what I came up with-

It's handsewn from a remnant of velvety stretchy material (if I do another one, it will NOT be from that fabric, it was a pain to sew), with a layer of foam in the middle.  I painted a wood dowel and used ribbon to hang it from.  (I can post making of pics if anyone is interested)
15  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Clay Turkey and more (Pic heavy) on: November 22, 2007 09:30:32 AM

My Turkey (and fav out of this batch) Beads used for eyes, beak & red thingy

Christmas Tree for MIL (theres a hole for her to use it as an ornament/pendant)

Partial group picture (i forgot to take a better pic of the witch hat and clay beads)

Partial group picture (Dog, donut, cookie, clue, tuit, and pretzel.  glass beads for accents)

Pun Pendents (Round To It and A Clue.  Scratched into clay before baking with a saftey pin)

Dog/Fox (eyes and nose are beads. I ended up painting it to look like their mini collie, but MIL took it before I got pics)

16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / I miss my home swap? on: November 22, 2007 06:03:23 AM
I'm sure I'm not the only one living away from "home". I was thinking a swap to remind people of home would be cool.

Example- I'm from Mi and living in Fl.  Someone else is living in MI but is from FL (or maybe just thinks of FL/DIsneyworld as a second home).  I could craft for her/him and vice versa.  Or something along those lines.  Not just crafting either,  a couple things thatyou can only get at home (Faygo and Tubby's sauce from Mi.  Disney stuff from FL)

I wouldn't be able to organize (I haven't done my first swap yet) but I'd love to participate.
17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My fist pattern- Cat/Doll Cloak (3 pics) *Pattern Included* on: November 20, 2007 06:40:51 PM
My hubby and I have joked about getting a purple cloak for our younger cat. (She's named after the girl next to Batgirl in my avatar) I made this so Spoiler could dress up for Halloween, but I didn't think about her giant bat-like ears.  Oh well, it works just as well on a doll.

Spoiler isn't thrilled with it

I tried putting it on her sister, Lizard.  She didn't like it either.

This is the first time I've made up my own pattern and I think it turned out pretty good. If you'd like the pattern, I do have it written down somewhere.

Here is the pattern, but beware!  This is my first, it may only make sense to me  Undecided

Starting with the cape-
1)  CH 20
2)  DC in 3rd CH from hook. DC in each to end.  CH 2 Turn (18 DC)
3)  DC 2x in first DC.  DC in each to end.  2 DC in end. CH 2 Turn (20 DC)
4)  DC 2x in first. DC to end. 2 DC in last. CH 2. Turn.  (22 DC)
5)  DC 2x in first. DC to end. 2 in last. CH 2. Turn (24 DC)
6-8)  DC in each to end. CH2. Turn. (24 DC)
9)  DC 2x in first. DC to end. 2 DC in last. CH 2. Turn (26 DC)
10-21) Repeat 5-7 (26 DC)
22) SC along all sides.

1)  CH 20
2-9)  DC in 3rd from hook. DC accross. (18 DC)
10)  Fold in half, rt side together. Slipstitch along one side. Turn right side out.

Attaching hood and ties-

CH 20 then slipstitch bottom of hood to top of cloak.  CH 20.  (The CH 20 are the ties)

18  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Glow in the Dark--dragon, dice, and more on: November 20, 2007 06:24:49 PM
These are my first attempts at poly.  I saw the glow in the dark Fimo and had to get it. Grin

The dragon is my fav from the batch.  I forgot to put wings on him, but I've come up with a couple ideas to fix that.  I'll update when I'm finished with him.

This is Lanfear's sigil/symbol from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

On top of the image I modeled it after

I'm a D&D geek, so I made some dice.

The 4sider, ice cream cone and a flower.

I ended up glazing and painting the dice.  I gave most of the rest to my MIL to play with her beading and jewelry projects.

The dragon is mine lol
19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Wheel of Time series swap? on: November 07, 2007 03:56:45 PM
I've been re-reading these books and a lot of crafty ideas have come to mind.  Anyone else out there love these books?  I can't organize it, but I'd love to participate.
20  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / 3 Sweaters and a Blanket (image heavy) on: November 03, 2007 08:31:10 AM
The sweaters were all from patterns in Crochet for Tots.

This was given to a friend in my mom's knitting group worried that she wouldn't have any crocheted items for her baby.

This was also a gift for a friend

This was given to a co-worker

A couple friends of mine were expecting their 1st child and they're Tigger fanatics, so I made this.  So many people were asking about the "Halloween" blanket, I ended up sewing a Tigger patch on it. lol
