1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Baby Sampler on: January 15, 2010 09:25:55 PM
My friend just had a baby and I love my family tradition of giving samplers, so I made one for her.  I blurred the name, date, and weight out.  Also- I am so happy with my back side- of the cross stitch I mean!  Pretty fancy.  This took me probably close to 7 months working at night after work.

2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Freezer Paper Tie on: August 09, 2009 10:29:52 AM
I made ties for the gentlemen I know- but i forgot to take pictures before I mailed them off.  This is my brother's.  I bought a basic tie and created a freezer paper stencil of a sparrow.  The cool part is that he actually wears it!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Split side clutch on: August 09, 2009 10:23:54 AM
I drafted my very first pattern (before i have always relied on other patterns or making it up as a i go).  I made this for my sister's birthday.  My hubby and I picked out the fabric (teal and red- gorgeous).  There's a removable strap for the wristlet.  I gotta say I had a killer time finding a d ring!

THe face on the purse is a plastic strinky dink barbie

Here's the split part

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Watercolor stencil- my parents on: April 27, 2009 08:22:36 PM
I saw this thread (and her other onese) https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=301135.0  and I loved this idea, so i pulled out my masking fluid and my parents' wedding picture and Viola!

here's the original photo:

and my process:

This will go to mom for mother's with a necklace I made.

(Shameless plug- I've used this photo before... https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=229083.msg2489661#msg2489661)
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Mustache Mugs on: April 12, 2009 08:53:56 PM
A while back I saw a photo of a friend using a mustache mug.  AWESOME.  So i got some ceramics pens and got to work.  I made a set of four mustaches, different colors, with the definitions of the different types from the American Mustache Institute website.

and in action- they were a birthday gift for a friend
6  COOKING / Dessert / Twilight cake on: April 12, 2009 08:50:11 PM
I saw this post a while back and loved this cake: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=292046.0.  This was my inspiration, though mine was poorly done, and doesn't do justice to my inspiration.

I loved the bite marks, and the word twilight was done with melted chocolate written on wax paper, dried, and then adhered to the cake.

The insides were supposed to be a checkerboard white/ red velvet cake, but the red velvet expanded too much while cooking and the "checkerboard" was lost.  I chalked this up to "you live and you learn".  Luckily, it tasted fine and the girls didn't care one whit about my inability to use fodant.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Miracle pendant *Twilight* on: February 20, 2009 10:49:53 PM
I'm hosting a *Twilight* DVD party and i'm putting together some ideas for party swag (cheap party stuff since I'm broke)... I used this tut http://hyo-pon.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-GLASS-CHARMS-107205932 to create this:

YAY!  I can make a bunch of these and I think they're pretty dang cool!  I know this is nothing new, but I'm pretty proud.
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / 3-d Viewmaster- coolest congrats card ever on: February 11, 2009 09:33:42 PM
My bro in law just graduated college, so instead of a "congrats" card, I made him a 3-d viewmaster slide thingy with my own pictures!
1. purchase view master and slide wheel thingies
2. use tutorial from photojojo on stereophotography (http://photojojo.com/content/tutorials/3d-stereo-photography/) to take 3-d pictures
3.  resize the pics to fit in the teeny holes
4.  get them printed on transparency paper at high quality
5.  place them in the correct holes on the slide
6.  look then more the pictures so that they become 3-d

Check it out! (there isn't much to see...)

and the pictures (my left eye pic is on the top, my right eye pic is on the bottom)

the story is pretty simple- there was only room for 7 picture sets per slide.  So it start with a character confused and pensive about what to do, then a magical fairy comes and "tada" he knows what to do.  then the "congrats" card.
Simple but super fun and surprisingly cool!  We will see what bro thinks!
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Octopus Tie on: February 05, 2009 11:50:19 AM
My bro in law graduated from college in computer animation.  As a present, I used freezer paper and I cut out the character from his website and printed it on a tie.  I'm really proud of it.  The tie has rayon and it got a bit shiney because the iron was too hot.  All and all I'm really happy with it.

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My Tree of Life Pendant on: February 05, 2009 11:33:47 AM
I love all the tree of life pendants that I've been seeing, so I jumped on the internet and found this tutorial:
Here are my first two tries

I'm excited to keep trying!
