21  Nyla turned 4 years old and got a new B-day outfit! LOTS OF PICS! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: September 08, 2008 08:45:42 AM
Nyla turned 4 in July and I wanted to make something special for her B-day. The fabric I designed the outfit around has cakes and presents on it.  I appliqued a cupcake with 4 candles on it to the bodice.  I incorporated lots of ric rac and even beads. It has LOTS of twirl!   She wore it again to church and the state fair a few weekends ago.

Warning.....New Look 6613's bodice with the double straps is a NIGHTMARE!  The placement and length is sooo off I had to repin and sew over and over!  The right strap is driving me nuts!

22  Grey Pinstripe, pink and white for the ultimate girly outfit. PICS in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: September 03, 2008 12:41:35 PM
This grey pinstripe has been marinating in my stash for a while now.  I knew I wanted to pair it with pink cause those two colors look great together!

I did a little double layered circle skirt, kiddie corset with the shirred back, and a peasant top so that it can be worn after the summer.  Bows too!

Check out that last pose.  The little stinker watches too much America's Next Top Model and Project Runway with me.  SHe really thought she was striking a couture pose!  She was doing some weird stuff!

23  2 of Nyla's New School Outfits! TONS of pictures! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: September 02, 2008 02:04:10 PM
Tons of pics but I just couldn't help myself!

These are just 2 of the outfits I have made Nyla for school.  She starts next week.  Working on more.

Oh how I wish I had got more of this purple polka dot fabric!  It screams fun and reminds me of a clown but in a good stylish way.  lol.  I made palazzo pants, embellished a tee with a detachable long tied bow, and made a matching flower beanie.

The second outfit is a embellished tee and twirl skirt.  Of course I made bows to match!

24  Super Twirly Dress, and 2 pc. batik skirt set. Chillin in my inventory. in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: August 25, 2008 01:33:10 PM
Whenever I get ideas in my head for outfits of course I want them for my daughter, but Nyla can't have everything!

I love doing customs more than anything which is the bulk of my orders but sometimes people ask me if I have stuff already made.  Soooo I've been trying to sew up on some stuff in various sizes to have on hand.

Here are two, more to come.

The first is an adorable, super duper twirly dress with colorful fabric (2T).  I made the cutest matching korkers!

How I LOVE batik fabric!  It's my favorite!  The second is an embellished tee and circle skirt that looks really cute on.  The plastic form does nothing for it.  I finally got a 4T model now so I'll have to get some action shots.

25  Doggone it!! After all this, she can't even fit it! Growth spurt!! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: August 11, 2008 11:49:20 AM
All you moms out there have had atleast ONE moment where you went to dress your child and WHUDDYA know, the outfit that fit 2 weeks ago is now skin tight! Your child complains that their feet hurt after you left the house hrs ago and you discover that their poor little toes were smushed into the shoes anyhow!

Well we still have a little summer left in good ole MI so I thought I'd do a few quick outfits for her to wear.

Stawberries....YUM!  Took a pair of old jeans, cut, frayed and added a bit of interest to one leg.  WHipped up a quick halter and made the cutest strawberry clips from felt and ribbon to go in her hair.  SHe even has strawberry earrings to match!

SHe tried it on and the pants were in her terms TOO TIKE (tight)!!!!!!! The girl couldn't even squat! Brand new red shoes to match were too little.  How does a child go from a 4T to a 6X in less than a month?Huh (The outfit is a sz 5)  I wish I could freeze her and make her stay this size for another 3 years...or atleast til I have another baby!

I'll probably put it in my store for cheap to get rid of it. The shoes and clips included. It's a simple but cute outfit.

26  Shoes were the inspiration AGAIN! Sunshine yellow n' polka dots! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: August 11, 2008 10:02:04 AM
With my shoe addiction (passed down to Nyla) is a great thing I can sew!  Once again on an impulse buy I picked up these shoes I couldn't resist!  Had not a THING to match until the Tutti Frutti fabric went on sale at Joann.  Copped me one yd of this yellow/white polka dot for $1.99 and finally got around to whipping up this quick halter.  I had the daisy trim in my stash that I never thought I'd use.  No pattern, just winged it.  Got some used jeans, cut, frayed the hem, and gussied them up a bit with a little trim and ric rac.  Of course korker bows to match.  She loved it and wore it to a b-day party this past weekend!

27  Inspired by a pair of Nyla's cheap lil Kmart shoes!!!!! IMG HEAVY! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: August 05, 2008 10:09:09 AM
I saw these shoes for $8 and a light went off in my head!!!  OMIGOD, I must make an outfit that combines denim and rainbow fabric!!  The denim for the outfit matched the shoes to a tee!  I made the corset style top (freestyled), shirred the back and did a circle skirt with ruched fabric all over.  I made solid white bows with rainbow centers to match but she didn't have pigtails this weekend.  I made the bracelet too.  This is our little outing down to the Riverfront off the Detroit river. She had a blast!

Excuse the pictures, they're horrible and blurry cause I didn't use my good Canon.

28  2 new patchwork twirly dresses. NOW WITH ACTION SHOTS!!! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: July 30, 2008 11:25:13 AM
Here are 2 dresses that were custom ordered.  Both people gave me total creative freedom which I love.

The first dress is for a baby's first B-day party (how sweet).  Her mom's only request was for a pink and purple dress with panties to match.  I took it form there.  I used some pretty shimmery pinks and purples in it. The whole dress was drafted by me, no pattern.  I appliqued a heart on the front and back of the panties and made a matching headband with a bow on it.  I took a store bought applique worded princess and ironed it on the bodice since they call the little Carly princess.  I was DELIGHTED when she tried it on!! The headband and little arm bracelet was made to match as well.

For the other dress I wanted to do something with pink and royal blue for the longest so I gave it ago.  I used the bodice pattern for NL 6613 and freestyled the rest.  I hated it after I finished it because I felt like the patchwork was cut too wide.  I usually do rectangles about 4 or 5 inches long and 8-12 wide.  This was a bigger girl sz 7/8 so I did big hunky squares so I didn't have to do 4 or 5 tiers (lazy).  I added the pink rick rack and heart buttons at the last minute which made me feel a little bit better about the dress.  I made matching korkers too of course.  They match to a tee!  Be honest yall is this dress ugly?

29  Batik print dress I made for a friends baby. Now with action shots. in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: July 28, 2008 01:12:19 PM
I previously posted this dress with pics of it on a hanger.  So boring.  You all know I love action shots but when I make things for people I don't always get pictures.  Little Chloe came by and I had to get this dress on her.  SHe is sooooo cute to me!  She's my up and coming model.  Just got to get a lil bigger.

It was a very simple dress, no pattern necessary.  Just a shirred tube with shirred straps and a ruffled hem.  Perfect for babies.

30  My lil Corporal Cutie Nyla. Army fatigues has gone GIRLY! PICS OF COURSE! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Nylaskye on: July 09, 2008 09:07:38 AM
Shocked Shocked  ARMY PRINT? ? ? Shocked Shocked Shocked

If you've seen my posts you know I like making things that are sometimes atypical.  I'd bought the pair of shoes below on clearance and of course didn't have anything to match so when I saw this fabric I knew I had to have it!  Bonus, it was on clearance and has a shimmer to it!  When I found the metallic gold appliques (on clearance too) I knew just what had to be done!

I cut up a pair of jeans for the top and frayed part of the applique. The top is totally freestyled and shirred in the back.  Shirring is soo easy when you only have to do a few rows.  When you have to do almost 30 your sanity starts to waver!  SO redundant!  GEEZ O PEEZ!!!!! Huh Huh

DIdn't want bows with this one.  I thought the beret was the perfect choice for this ensemble.  Quickly snapped these pics, until I can get better ones.
