111  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Elann's pinwheel sweater on: November 12, 2007 07:35:45 AM
Yes, I blocked it, but it wasn't so easy. I soaked it in the bathtub, and then shaped it on layered towels on the bathroom floor. When the kids actually had to use the bathroom and it had dried a little, I moved it to the kitchen floor. I let it dry there until my cat decided it was a comfy place to sit. I then moved it to a table on my sun porch, where it is has been since. Maybe it will be 100% dry today, but it is raw and cloudy, so I'm not so sure.  So far, it has made a good rug and a good table cloth. I hope it makes a good sweater, but I'm not sure where I'm going to keep it. It definitely will not fit in a drawer. I'll post photos as soon as it is dry and I put it on.

What a great idea for recycling a sweater. I have one or two I really shouldn't wear any more, but couldn't bear the waste of getting rid of them. This is a really great solution.

The knitting is complete!! Just need to weave in the ends and block well, as I need to solve the concave shape of the smallest pinwheel color. Depending how much time I have and how warm the weather is here for drying, I hope to have photos by the end of the weekend.

My next project will be a real challenge for me -- the LB Knit Luxe Tunic. But I love the shape and after years of staying with safe projects, I need to expand my skills.

That's spectacular. I love the two-toned gray, and I would absolutely wear that. If I hadn't ordered the wool for my next project, I would pick that instead.

The black and white ones are my favorite, though they all look professionally done. I'll jump on the bandwagon for a tutorial request. Thanks for sharing.

So cool in a retro kind of way. As a knitter, I would love that. Great colors choices inside and out. You have one lucky sister.

Adorable in its clean design. I love it.

I've seen the Rebecca 34 photo, and the armhole does appear unnaturally low, like the sweater might be uncomfortable. I need to pick up this mag at my LYS, where they're holding it for me. I think that I may try to use the LB pattern but if the Rebecca 34 is knit in the round, I will use it as a backup to try to knit without having to seam. It's such a beautiful sweater, I don't want to give up the thought of making it.

Love those. I would buy them in a minute, and I'd love to make them as well. Could you refer us to the pattern? They rock.

The delivery cost of the Phildar Mag was 5.50 Euros.  Also even though the mag is listed as 9.50 euros when I checked out they only charged me 7.94 euros.  I'm not really sure why a discount was applied but this was the amount on the invoice that came with the mag as well.  Total charge was 13.44 euros.  I just checked my credit card to see what I got charged in US dollars and that amount was a total of $19.15.  Hope this helps.  BTW, if anyone was wondering, it took about one week.  I ordered on Friday and recieved it the next Thursday.

Thanks. That's really helpful. I'm almost done with my Elann pinwheel, so I'm going to go for it. Plus, there looked like there were a lot of other fun patterns in the book as well.

Teela Nei: Would you mind looking in the Phildar book and telling us whether this pattern is knit in the round or seamed? Thanks again.
