1  Re: in desperate need of a 2nd [or 3rd or 18th or 284] opinion in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by T-Unit on: August 19, 2008 09:22:11 AM
I love this dress and it's concept. It's gorgeous. I've read all the replies and agree with most of what people are saying.

If it was me, on the back I would, leave it pretty much as is except for moving the feathers on the feathered side so that there is no strip of the goldy/cream fabric showing, I think it detracts from the fabric.

To the front, I would change the style of the skirt, to go with the flamy illumination style I would give it an asymmetrical skirt, which wraps around and continues onto a shorter train, like this maybe...

Only under the skirt bits is where you would add your gathering and extra bits of sheer fabric in the different shades throughout the dress, including goldy cream to continue on from the top part, which would essentially look the the front of the skirt you have now only more fitted and "neat" i mean "neat" in the disorganised chaos neat... I also this a 'bustle butt' would suit this dress idea/concept too, esp the flame/phoenix idea... Thing of violent shocks of fabric graduating out from under the butt feathers to pronounce it more but not make it look like a big lump... (looks like it's already got a bit of this)

(I feel like I'm being bossy and pushy here so i apologise, I'm not meaning it to sound like that I swear!)

I would not put feathers on the front, and avoid led's or lights of any kind. I would stick to reflective or glittery beads, that illuminate with light, I would, for now leave the 'collar' as i think it's stunningly simple.

If this was my dress.... I'd want who ever to see it be saying or thinking... wow, nice... at the front then BAM OMGWTF that's amazing at the back, which is where it's at atm.   Roll Eyes

Those are just 'my' suggestions, that's all they are.

Sometimes if we are too close to a project we become idea's blind and are just sick of seeing it.

I think what ever you do, once it is finished it will be amazing.

3  Re: Show Off Your Hair! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by T-Unit on: July 13, 2008 10:00:15 AM
I just dyed my hair...!!!!

Not really. I don't have the guts. My hair is super long (past my waist) and really healthy. I think I'd die myself if I did.

This wig though is now a regular feature.[/size]

(I hope it counts for in here.........)

5  Re: Newbies Only Swap Round 9 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by T-Unit on: June 12, 2008 08:06:23 AM
I received from Destined To Fail a couple of days ago... Anyway, Enough chat.

On with the pictures.! Get your Wist buttons ready for real.! I was TOTALLY spoilt AND way out crafted.

First up we have an super cool stencilled/screen printed Zebra Apron, which I love so much I'm scared to use it in case I get glue/paint on it....!

Then a super warm and perfectly sized (not too big/not too small) neck warmer, To warm my neck, also, just in time for Winter.! Hurrah!

Enough Said I think.!

Watermelon bag. This is so awesomely well made. It's fantastic, and suits me perfectly. I generally try to go for out there accessories and something different which no one else has. I've sure got it now.!

Now.... Everything up until now has been wonderful/awesome/fantastic/perfect... But, then I opened these and almost died. Serious. This is Destined To Fail's FIRST...!!!1! time using polymer clay. Holy crap. That's all I can say. Check out the detail on this.!

I've nicknamed it my 'Have your Cake and eat it too' bracelet (ok ok, so I don't eat cake [long story] but cake is so cute to look at.!)

Here's a close up of each type and a key of what type of cake each of these are...

Also, more polymer clay, donuts/desert this time...! Something I DEFINITLEY eat. hahaha. Also a felt donut pin cushion. I've been coveting these for forever, and I don't even think they're on my wist.!

& also a close up/key of the type of donuts/desert each are.

I can't believe how awesome and amazing this whole swap process is. Not to mention the amazing crafts I received in return. I could not be happier, and I'm sad to see my first swap almost over. I can't wait to see if Destined likes the craft's I've sent to them. I think though, the best thing that has come from this swap, Is the really great friendship I made in getting to know Destined To Fail, they're both really really great guys, and awesome craftsters too.

7  The dress of many names. *slightly image round* in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by T-Unit on: May 05, 2008 09:37:37 AM
Awhile ago I decided I wanted to make a dress. I knew exactly how I wanted it to look. It turned out pretty much like that but it's not as flattering as I thought it would be, I can think of a few decent alterations I'm going to make to it anyway.

Some of the names I came up with whilst making this dress were...,
The "Circle Skirts are Evil" dress.
Dress of a million pins.
Pins, Patience and Persistance.
Million Mile Hem dress.

I really can't remember the rest. I was pretty delusional and tired by the end.

There's a few things I would change next time round. I'd make the skirt band/waist band higher, Shorten the sleeves and make the whole top part a little tighter. All in all not bad for my first time making a dress, and first time making a circle skirt, first time making nice seams and first time sewing with stretch stuff for real.

Also, I did the measurements for the circle skirt and did the maths about three or four times, even using an online calculator and it still came out too big, so I ended up having to make small gathers around the waist of the skirt.

Anyway, I love it and plan on making a few more out of other types of fabric. Smiley

Here's proof.! haha

The dress..! Look at that circle skirt..! Awww How cute.!

The back, I wasn't keen on how the back sat. But now I think it's pretty.

Front.! Sorry for slight boobage.

You can actually wear this with the sleeves off of your shoulders....

This is what it looks like from the side with the sleeves down.

And, Last but not least. Front with the sleeves off of shoulders.

Sorry for the bad pictures.... I was tired after work so my head has been cut out. Also they had to be taken with my stupid camera phone Smiley

Comments and constructive criticism welcome.

8  Flying Spaghetti Monster. in Completed Projects by T-Unit on: May 03, 2008 01:01:02 PM
I made this guy for one of my friends at work. I was bored at work one day so during my lunch break I went to spotlight and picked up some supplies, and saw pipe cleaners. Pipe cleaners are fun, and look noodley when twisted. So the Flying Spaghetti Monster was created.

(on a side note, I only recently realised what pipe cleaners were for.... cleaning pipe's. Duh. I just thought they were for making things out of.!)

Without further ado.

Now, the specs... His balls (hehe) are made from a piece of scrap paper from work (which work usually just throw out.!) and a rolled up tube between the two meat balls (more hehe) I then stuck on some pipe cleaners and wrapped the balls in that weird fun fur that looks kinda like eyelashes? In a suitable meaty colour.
Glue on some googley eyes. and there you have it.!

Just don't try and eat him. He's not tasty.

9  Sewing Stretcy "Cotton Jersey Knit" Fabric in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by T-Unit on: April 29, 2008 09:50:34 AM
Hi. This will be the first time I will be sewing this type of fabric. I have sewn stretchy fabric before, but wasn't getting the best results. I have a basic sewing machine and am not sure which would be the best stitch to use so that I can still get the same stretch out of the fabric.

I think it will be one of these

(Excuse the dodgy camera phone pic. It's late and I don't know where my camera USB is.)
Either the red one under D, the red one under H or The black one under I maybe?

I will love you forever if you can help.!
