1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Katamari Damacy... bag, purse, tote, whatever, it's KATAMARI! on: November 28, 2007 08:45:26 AM
Naaaa na na na na na nuh, na nuh nuh nuh nuh neh nuh naaaaa.... The song has been in my head for, seemingly, EVER! I can't get rid of it. I hum it doing dishes, laundry, taking the kids somewhere... If you're not a gamer, or don't know one, Katamari Damacy is a video game, wherein you push a little sticky ball over really cluttered environs, and pick up things from pushpins and paperclips to sumo wrestlers, cars and continents. Several games later, we have Beautiful Katamari, which my beloved husband has bought me for Xmas. In trembling anticipation, I made...a bag, purse, tote, whatever, dammit, it's KATAMARI! Grin

Trying to get the camera to cooperate for a zoom of the picture.

Reverse side of the bag.

Interior. You can see the zipper charm on the left corner. (Forgive my nasty tan carpal glove edge. Unavoidable in cold weather. And I really do have a thumbnail! My thumb is just bent in this shot. Though it looks really odd, I admit)

The charm is a temp one, till I sculpt a polymer katamari ball myself. In the meanwhile, it's from Roly Poly, and it's a blowfish, with just the cutest face in the world. This is a fairly blurry shot. Sorry!

I know it's a blowfish...and katamari don't have faces (till you roll up some people  Grin ), but if you turn the charm over...it looks like katamari. Even in blurry early morning photos!

So, on with the song! Naaaaa, na na na na na nuh....
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: guitar-shaped bag for my boyfriend's PSP on: November 28, 2007 08:19:33 AM
Completely in love with you right now. You're my (guitar) hero!

Saw a bag like this, full purse size, in a store, and wasn't willing ( at Xmas time, at least) to drop the 75 USD on it. Staring so hard at yours and thinking about making my own.

So cool!
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Retro Appetizer for Cocktail Party on: November 21, 2007 03:52:01 PM
I've no idea how many times I've made these for the kids to snack on. I add sliced cheese and use sweet pickles instead--they're not really big kosher/dill fans. It's fast, easy and tasty, especially if you put each one on a little cracker (we like Keebler). Chives in the cream cheese make a nice little zesty bite, as well.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: A Little Blue Dressy *Picture Heavy* on: November 21, 2007 03:47:43 PM
It's really cute, and the vintage pattern was a real find.  Smiley

My best suggestions for uses are a: buy a big baby doll and make her a cute little vintage wardrobe, or b: make a whole bunch more and donate them en masse to the local shelter/charity group of your choice. 'Tis the season for it, after all.  Cool
5  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Medieval re-enactment tabard, lots of applique on: November 21, 2007 02:34:42 PM
Hooray hooray for the SCA!!! Grin

Everything I've made and had made for me for here in the Greater Kingdom of thelmearc, and I've never gotten around to posting pics.

Your tabard is beautiful, and you should be proud, for all those hours and hours were truly well worth it!

OKay, that's kinda just really cute. And for some reason, the button strip just makes me smile. (And now I'm eyeballing this flannel shirt I bought my husband to paint in...that he never ever even unfolded, much less wore...)

I got a whole bunch of this fabric at Wal-Mart last year...as well as their policeman line. Black and whites, flashing red sirens, men in uniform...It's a good series.  Grin

My local still had some the last time I looked. So most of your should still be able to find it at your local Mart.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: My first adventure with resin...(pictures...woo) on: November 19, 2007 06:23:58 AM
Curious about the nail polish/resin ones--they're so pretty, but how are they setting up? Doesn't the chemical combination of polish vs. resin catalyst degrade the resin hardening properties at all? You said some still weren't dry...

Haven't tried nail polish with resin yet, but it is really gorgeous. Can't wait to hear how it ultimately turns out!
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Magic the Gathering card folder for husband on: November 18, 2007 07:11:31 AM
Wow, talk about synergy.  Like two days ago, I found some of the old Magic cards my husband gave me when we were dating. He was really excited when he saw them again, and wanted to play...It's completely revitalized his passion for the game. A project like this could be just the extra little xmas gift I'm looking for.

Great job! And thanks for the idea!

Very, very pretty fabric. And I love the pockets you have photographed on your blog! (As well as those gorgeous purple leaves...)
