1481  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Quilt As You Go Weekender Bag & Accessory Pouch on: April 01, 2015 09:16:09 AM
I love everything about this bag! Its fantastic and good for you to finally make something for yourself. I never finish "me" projects.  Tongue
1482  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First Ever painted Quilt for Dad (pic heavy) on: April 01, 2015 07:31:31 AM
My Dad is the hardest man on Earth to shop for. Every Christmas the entire family freaks out and complains about it. Last year I decided to make him a quilt since he always says he is cold. At the time I had no idea what I was getting into. I had never quilted anything successfully before.
I wanted to make it personal for him so each block was either something about him or a family member. Problem was, I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I had the hardest time getting just the right fabrics. I had no idea a simple beagle or Chihuahua was going to be a headache to find. In the end I decided to paint the squares that I couldn't find. Also, a non cartoon alien or bigfoot is nearly impossible to find too.  Tongue

Another impossibility is getting a picture of my Dad that his dog isn't photobombing. LOL!
Here is a pic without the boarder done yet.

Here is a shot of some of the individual squares I painted

and here are some shots of the individual blocks.
,
My sisters block had her dog and The Wizard of Oz on it.

And here are blocks of his beloved dog and the cat

I know it is a super simple design but for my first quilt I was completely overwhelmed.  Tongue I had no idea it was going to be so much work and I was on a deadline for Christmas. I am happy to say I got it done. Sorry for taking so long to post up!
1483  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Cloud Light on: April 01, 2015 07:05:26 AM
I have been on this huge kick since my divorce on redecorating my house and making it mine, finally.  Wink I wanted to add some whim and quirkiness to it. I have an extra room now that I am hoping to turn into a multifunctional office/guest room/reading room. I have seen these on Pinterest for a while but I thought that they looked hard to make. Not sure why. Huh It was super easy. I have to admit it looks a lot better in a photograph than it does in person. With the lights on it just looks like a big piece of fluff hanging there. Undecided I was thinking if I made a couple more and had some other things around it (hot air balloon, birds, etc) it would look better.
Here is my little cloud hanging in the shower for now. I have to decide where I want to hang it up....

and here it is all lit up. I used tiny LED lights and I am thinking of getting one that flashes to give it more of a storm cloud feel.

I took a bunch of dark shots because it was turning and each angle looked a bit different to me.

I have ideas set for all of them but one and it's one that I can just make something and figure it out later.  Tongue So far so good! Now I have to start working.  Grin
1485  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Craft for my garden/outdoors on: March 31, 2015 11:43:44 AM
I have declared this year to be the year I tame the garden that came along with the house I bought. I had NO idea they took that much work but now I am hooked on the idea of making it mine. I plan to make some fairy garden items and this would fit right in!

Destashing is the worst for me. Embarrassed I end up just buying more because I get so inspired by what I have. LOL! I did throw a couple yards of knit fabric into the Goodwill donation box last weekend. It takes up so much space and I rarely use it. I did keep a couple bits just in case though.

Storerboughtcreations Very cute dino plush. I like his scales on his back.

Bunny1kenobi Love your piata! I also love that you made it a challenge and not a one hit wonder. Tongue Make em work for that candy!! The entire birthday dcor is fantastic. If I were a kid I would be going wild. I'm not a kid and I am! Everything is so much fun. The drinks are even amazing. I can see kids drinking them and acting out the potions.

Calabaza Neat research project What do you do that required a moulage? Very pretty pin curls. I always thought they would be hard to sleep in. Good to know its doable!

Mountains and Clouds LOL! Glad I could remind you of LesliesHappyHearts great tutorial! Isnt it so much fun to make? Those things are addictive. Love what you did with the shrink dink charms!

LovelyMiss Very beautiful vintage-y cards. Love that Adventure one. Absolutely fantastic moon dotee! I love the ethereal feel of it! Ah. Spock. Hard to believe he is gone. Cry He will live on forever in our hearts and dotees. Awesome job on him.

Crazyda79 You had to use a recipe to make something to add to another recipe? Thats dedication and why all my food comes in a box that I pop in the microwave. LOL! Looks tasty though. I think its kind of neat that you have to search for the words on the hoopla. Kind of like how you have to hunt for 4 leaf clovers. Wow - That potato looks yummy. Potatoes are my weakness. I am drooling. That dotee is awesome! Love it! How cute and amazing! Neat necklace too. Yay for Craftster for motivating you to move out of your comfort zone and do new things! And yay for you on such an awesome hoopla! Wink

Prompt: March Tecky 2K
Team: Wordy!!
Bonus Points: (include which bonus points you think you've earned, e.g., Giver, Engineering, UFO)
Project Name: Storm Cloud light
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: I have seen these on the internet and decided I really wanted to try it and give some whim to my craftroom. It's Tecky because I found the instructions on the web and it uses tiny LED lights. I thought it turned out okay, but just okay. I am going to experiment fluffing out some parts of it and tweaking it here and there.
I hung it up in the bathroom to get a good dark short. Sorry. I took a bunch of shots because every angle looks different. I used three of the lights that stay on but I am thinking of getting one that flickers to give it a rainstorm feel to it.
