21  Bob's Burgers - Boyz 4 Now - Boo Boo & Louise Notebook in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: July 10, 2018 05:32:44 AM
I am a HUGE Bob's Burgers fan. It's my go to, feel good show. My favorite character is Louise. So, of course, I am also a huge Boo Boo fan. I couldn't find an image of the poster she is holding after the Boyz 4 Now concert that wasn't a gif that moved so this isn't exact. I watched that gif way too many times, would have made Louise proud (or jealous).
I recently got a Happy Planner and went sort of nuts with it buy all sorts of extras including the punch. I knew I wanted to make a notebook to sketch random swap ideas in so I order the disc's off Amazon for around $5. I got two sets and that was enough to make 3 notebooks sized at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I also got some lighter weight cream colored cardstock for the pages. Cardstock helps it stay in the discs and prevented bleed thru if I use markers. I got the type that has a linen texture to one side. For some reason I just didn't want plain white pages.
This is the front. I laminated both the front and back covers too.

 Side

And Louise going crazy for his hideously beautiful face on the back!  Cheesy  For some reason the pic looks really streaky but it doesn't in real life. Oh well.

and here is a shot of the paper being cut up. Just quartered on the paper cutter at work. Mine at home was too small.

I have two more to make. I told my sister I would make her one. She is picking out her theme.
 Thanks for checking it out!

22  First Try Work Shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: July 09, 2018 06:54:45 AM
Hello! I sew all the time but up until now I have only slightly dabbled in making clothes. It's a completely different beast than what I normally do. One of my goals this year was to make and wear three shirts to work. I bought a bunch of knits and then chickened out. Nothing is the same! You use a different needle, you cut it out differently (with a rotary cutter), different thread even (heard not to use cotton). On top of all that, it moves an is stretchy and scared me. I didn't even know what iron setting to use (my Mom got lots of calls). I have two shirts cut out. They are sitting there waiting for me to get the nerve up to attempt sewing them.
I decided to ease my way into it by starting with a shirt that didn't have as much stretch. I had a TON of crepe satin. A LONG time ago, over 12 year, I was going to have my Aunt make a wedding dress for me. I ended up finding a great deal on one and she was very releived she didn't have to attempt it. But we had already bought all the fabric. I am trying to stash bust so I decide to use it but non shiny side.

The slickness of the fabric was a little more difficult, and the fact that I couldn't iron it completely flat and crisp like cotton. I used Simplicity patter 8393.
The inside seams are still loose. I think I am going to try to stitch those. But I loved the button I chose!

I know it has some wonks to it but it is my first attempt. The hem is still a little extra wonky and my Mom is helping me fix that.
Thanks for checking it out and any advice is welcome! Purses are so much easier! Cheesy

23  Mermaid Pocket Letter - 1st Pocket Letter! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: July 09, 2018 06:38:14 AM
I made this for the Mermay, Unicorn and friends swap. I had never made a Pocket Letter before but now that I have I really hope they have another swap. It was a lot of fun.

I wanted each mermaid to flow into the next card so I spaced them out first and tried to get the spacing right.

I used watercolor to try to get the backgrounds to be interesting and flow together. I am not that good at watercolor, as you can see, but I had fun trying. I think I will try to use it again soon. I did the mermaid bodies in Copic marker.
Here is the back with the goodies inside.

 Thanks for checking them out.

Project Name: First Work Shirt

Brief Description: I sew a lot but I always use quilters cotton or similar materials and I never sew clothes. I decided I was going to try to learn how to make myself some. I have been saying I was going to do this for the last three years but I am just now getting around to it. I had to ask my Mom to explain some stuff to me (what iron setting does crepe go on? Why is my hem so freakin' wonky? Why did I try to sew a shirt with such slick fabric!? Huh That sort of thing). She helped me with the hem and understanding some of the lingo of the pattern too. Please ignore my messy room and yes, I own a lot of shoes. It's not perfect, or anywhere near it, but it's a start. I plan to keep making them until I can actually wear one to work. I am claiming brain power for figuring out the hem.

I need to secure the ends of the fabric but I really liked the button I used.

Brief Description: This was made for a swap. I wanted to give the background a flowy feel that would pull all the cards together. I decided on using water color. I am, as you can see, not that good at water color. I need more practice.  Tongue

Project Name: Kitchen Scrubbies
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: Every day I clean out my cats bowls and I use WAY too many paper towels doing that. I made larger unpaper towels earlier but they were too big for what I needed. I made these little scrubbies (finally) for myself and they are working out perfectly. I imagine Goblins being green so I went with Goblins. Also, they were sort of supposed to match my kitchen a little. I used scrap fabrics. I love that color green. They are pictured on a plate so you can tell the size. No, these aren't the plates the cats eat off.  Tongue

27  Re: Mermay, Unicorns, and Pals Swap - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by gozer on: July 09, 2018 05:51:32 AM
I received the most amazing swap package from Lindyv321 over the weekend. She completely outdid herself. Everything she sent was so amazing. I loved everything!!!
First up are two awesome shirts she made. I think she used vinyl on them. They are so cool. My cat Egon wouldn't get off them so you get a little shot of him too.  Kiss

I put everything else in little sets since she sent SO MUCH stuff. I definitely got spoiled on this swap. In group one we have an amazing ornament that will end up being hung up year round. Some awesome mermaid bracelets, a unicorn pack of stickers and lots of washi tape for my planner, magnetic mermaid notes, unicorn face mask, and Unicorn keychain (next to the bracelets).

Group two has an amazing notebook that Lindy added a beautiful mermaid too, unicorn gum, a grow your own unicorn, a fun unicorn cross stitch (I can't wait to start this!), awesome mermaid magnetic bookmarks, and unicorn and mermaid gift tags.

And the final group has my favorite item, That AMAZING hoop! It is so freakin' adorable!!! I love it. It's hanging on my kitchen wall now! Also in the group is this cute unicorn stuffy, unicorn coin purse, and a ceramic white unicorn. I love the ceramic unicorn too. I have to find a cool place for him in my house. Oh, and some amazing papers. Yes, those are kitty cat feet right behind everything. I had cats swarming me while I took photos. LOL!

Thank you so much Lindyv321. You sent a completely amazing swap package!! I loved everything!!!!

Project Name: Sexy Devil Girl Purse
Project Link:  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=455343.0
Brief Description: I had to switch the prompt on this one. I just reread them and this fits the battle better. The fabric is little devil girls (they have horns). I bought this fabric way back on Oct 25th, 2011. I let my friend look at my stash fabric to see if there was anything she would like for a purse and she chose it. Saved money and helped me stash bust a little. Cheesy  Now there is more room for another piece of fabric in my craft room. Ha! I claimed WIP because she bought the coordinating fabric and I told her I would make this about 3 months ago and just got around to it.  Undecided

29  Sexy Devil Girls Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: July 06, 2018 06:49:59 AM
My friend saw my Octopus bag and really liked the style of it and I offered to make her one. Once again it is the Notting Hill Handbag. My favorite purse pattern. So easy and I always love the results and wear ability of it. It just sits right on my arm.

She liked the size and shape of it too. I let her pick out the fabrics and to save money let her go thru my stash and she found this focus fabric I have been hoarding for the perfect project since Oct. 25, 2011. LOL! When I saw the fabric I had to have it but once I got it had no idea what to do with it.
I would have never picked it for a purse but I am glad she did because I think it worked out well. I called it Sexy Devil Girls because that was what the fabric was called when I bought it. I also have it in pink too. Still not idea what I am going to do with that one. I am trying to use up more of my stash this year so this was a great motivation to do that more. Buying more fabric is just so much fun.  Tongue
Front of Bag. Took me a bit to remember how to post on here now...

3/4 view. I think the polka dots went well with it.

Back. The girls are talking on the phone and wrapped around huge perfume bottles.  Wink

And the inside is a nice bright blue with a slip pocket in the focus fabric. I like bright interiors. It has two snaps on the sides that you can open to give it more space. They have been unsnapped in this photo.

Thanks for checking it out. I made this from start to finish on the 4th of July. First time I made a complete purse in a day. Normally I take nap breaks. Ha!
