1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Back to Forks... on: July 04, 2009 03:18:19 AM
It took me a while.. but I'm back posting something new! Well.. new.. old inspirations but some new stuff!
I have to start apologizing because this is going to be a long post.. so.. thank you for being patient! Kiss

I start with two keychains I've made for two friends.
The first is for a very twilighter friend of mine! She is completely in love with the movie, the books saga and, of course, Edward (the book Edward, she's not so interested in the actor)! I am ashamed.. really I am.. but at 25 years old.. I have to admit that I'm a Twilight fan also! Come on.. the perfect man who falls in love with a very normal, clumsy girl? Yes.. there's hope for everyone.. even for me! Wink So, I made this for her: the fork (read like "Forks" Tongue ) holds a little red apple (the forbidden fruit). In the ring there are a bronze heart with a little gold bead (the color of Edward's eyes) and some green (the meadow). At the end of the chain a little bottle with some... sparkle (like vampires do Tongue an idea that I stole from the site "devianart.com")! Behind the fork I wrote "Be Safe"!
Ok.. you can blame me! Tongue

The second one is a birthday present for a guy.. it's something special because this guy was my boyfriend... The main piece is obviously a fork, on which I glued on one side an old italian phon coin and on the other side an American dime and an half moon. At the end of the chain I put a little key and the sign "Air". Every piece has a particular meaning that I wrote in a dedication.

Than.. I want to show you a fork pendant that I made with clock gears. A little steampunk maybe.. or maybe only a little weird but it's one of my favourite (not the best pictures.. sorry)!

At the end.. a hair clip made with forks handles and a little red bead!

Ok.. finish!
Thanks a lot for watching and I'm waiting for your comments, critics, questions! Cheesy
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fork belt buckle... and Ophelia goes insane... on: November 23, 2008 05:50:24 AM
"You are completely crazy... and have a lot of spare time...!": it's what my friends and my parents said when they saw my last creation... the fork belt buckle!

For the madness I don't know what to say... probably they're right! Tongue For the spare time.. well.. it's the lack of will of studying, I guess! I'm justified! Eheheh!

So, I made this for a more-crazy friend of mine... that asked a belt buckle since I started to work with forks, and he liked that!
I used a military belt, on which I pasted a big fork for the roast that I've bent and decorated!
If for the normal fork I used a blowtorch and pincers to cut off the handle.. here I had to ask to my dad to help me using the buzz saw (disk saw)! It was funny! Tongue
I decorated the fork with copper wire and a little black bead!

Really I'm not completely satisfied with the result because the prongs were extremely hard and I've done a lot of marks on them! But, it's ok... it's the first attempt... I'm confident!

Let me know what you think about!
Thanks for looking!!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Restored old devastated grandma's sideboard on: September 28, 2008 07:02:29 AM
I started this restoration 2 years ago.. but the university, the work.. and.. well.. the lack of will stopped my good intentions...! This summer I finally had the time to bring back to life this old sideboard that was of my grandmother and stayed for years in the cellar with humidity, dust... mmm... mouses and other not so sociable little animals...!

Before (sorry the blur but I took this picture with an old digital camera)

Work in progress (during the restoration)

After (yeaaaaaah!) - As possible I tried to keep the original pieces... despite the rust!

I'm very proud.. now it is in the livingroom of my parents!! Cheesy
Thanks for looking!!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / God save the Queen! (lot of pics) on: August 27, 2008 11:26:04 AM
I know... I'm boring and monotonous!

Ok, little story: I went to London last month and I loved it! Great city, great people... not so great food but hey... I'm Italian... I have high standards on food! Tongue Kidding!
Back to home I had these two pennies (that bring luck, I think)... and I already had two little dessert forks... so an idea jumped into my mind... dessert forks, pennies... dessert forks, pennies... dessert forks, pennies!

Yes, today I've hung Betty, the Queen, to my ear... with a fork! It sounds worst than it is in reality! eheehe!

Me and the one with the penny side!

the penny side

the Beth side (sorry that strange yellow light)

The two earrings

They seem heavy, but actually they are absolutely comfortable to wear and enough light to prevent injury to my ear!

Hope you like them! Cheesy
Thanks for looking!

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fork necklace... Oh gosh, I'm addicted! (lot of pics) on: July 21, 2008 06:26:13 AM
My obsession of silverware jewelry doesn't stop... I think I seriously need some help! Tongue
Joking... but I'm in love with this kind of craft art and, after the fork bracelets (that I have already posted here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=254283.0) I have wanted to try some experiments again with forks, wire, beads and some stuff that I found around the house.
Here's the result... a fork necklace with a typical Egyptian amulet, the green/blu scarab beetle, that a friend of mine has brought me from Egypt. As I know this kind of amulet was th emblem of re-creation, and symbolized the evolution of the soul through eternity... yes.. I haven't so many claims... but if so... well, better for me!  Wink
Unfortunately the scarab bead has two small holes front and back, I think for passing a lace. I wasn't able to cover them... and I didn't want to run the risk of damage or destroy it because it's very fragile.

Hope you like it! Let me know what you think! Cheesy
Thanks for looking guys!!

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fork bracelets: thanks St. Vigilio!! :D (huge imgs) on: June 29, 2008 08:32:06 AM
During the last two weeks here in Trento (Noth Italy, in the Dolomites), we have celebrated St. Vigilio's day (in italian: http://www.festevigiliane.it/index.php)... a sort of St. Patrick's day, but instead of beer there were wine, strauben (typical cakes) and tapas (I don't really understand why spanish food... but whatever..). The celebration, in medieval theme, is formed by markets, concerts, the epic fight between Ciusi and Gobj for the polenta (Ciusi and Gobj are the citizens of Trento and Feltre, another town near here, and the fight is for the conquest of another typical noth Italian food: the polenta - made with water and yellow flour), the satiric process to local politics or famous people and their funny symbolic punishment (the "tonca": they are fallen into the town river in a wood cage) and the "palio dell'oca", the prize of the goose, a challenge on the river between 60 rafts.
Why this long story?
Because in the flea market I saw an old man who was making wonderful fork bracelets... that were sold at 50 euros (more than 70 dollars I think)!!! Too much for my budget... but I fell in love with those bracelets!!
Sooooo, I controlled in Craftster.org if some of you creative craft-people have made bracelets like the ones I saw... and... ta-daaaaa... I found this: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=211713.0

I tried... and... here we have the result!!!! I'm so proud!

The first made with two little decorated dessert forks and dragonflies recycled from old earrings.

The second one made with a big fork, blue stone heart and white beads.

Hope you like them! Tell me what you think!

Thanks for looking!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Grandma sweater recon: need helppppppppppp!!!!!! on: January 07, 2008 09:44:05 AM
Don't know if it's the right place but.. I need suggestions and help!

I have this old sweater that was of my grandmother. She left me and I am affectionate to her things.
For this reason I want to try to save this sweater and wear it (I also like the color and the fabric) but, as you can see, it's too large, classic, and.. yes.. is an old woman sweater!
I have no such great skills in sewing, so I really don't know how reconstruct it. Resize it and cut the sleeves? Or... any ideas to make it unique??!?
If you have some time or some good suggestions I'd really appreciate them! Cheesy

Thanks for reading!

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / How to create the perfect boyfriend... on: January 01, 2008 08:11:14 AM
Ok, first of all: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!! Have a good 2008! Wink

Second: for Christmas I had no ideas for the presents for my boyfriend and my best friend, or, better, i had some ideas but too little time to realize them soooo... I decided to create two dolls that would be identical to them! (yep.. good intentions, bad sewing skills... in fact the similarity with the guys is only into my mind... Tongue)
I bought felt (big mistake... now I HATE felt, it gets dirty so easly), wool, cotton, plastic eyes, some old stuff and did these!

1) Alessio: my boyfriend. Astronomy expert (NASA t-shirt), sporty (sporting pants and hooded sweatshirt) and mountain lover (inevitable backpack and a detachable sleeping bag)

2) Nicola: my best friend. More stylish and fashion addicted. Jeans, shirt, sweater and dark velvet jacket with scarf! Impeccable, as always (if he could read this, he would kill me!!)

nothing special

hope you like them! Tell me what you think... be ruthless! Wink
thank for looking!
