1  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / SNB Nation's Newsboy Cap on: August 12, 2010 07:04:54 PM
I really enjoyed making this hat, and I've already received a request from a friend to make one for him. Huzzah!

I used Patons Classic Wool medium weight yarn (205m, 100g) in Peacock.  I used size 10 1/2 double-pointed needles (I went without the circular ones, and it worked out fine). Though I did have to add one more repeat to the cable pattern to get it to fit my (large-ish) head. The whole thing came together quickly over two evenings.  And the pattern was clear, and I didn't have any difficulty at all. I can't wait to make more of these!!!

I can't wait for fall so that I can wear it all the time!

You can see more pictures on the old blog. Here's the link to the post:
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Doily Style Dishcloth on: June 09, 2010 05:57:50 PM
I made a quickie dishcloth over the last couple of evenings.

Basically, I wanted something that was quick and fun, with a bit of variety to keep me interested. This totally fit the bill.

I got the patter from one of those "knit a project every day" calendars. The pattern comes from www.sugarncream.com.  It was super easy to follow.

The yarn is from a thrifted sweater I got years ago. It's red cotton, and works well for a dishcloth.

I TOTALLY need cuter stitch markers!!!

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: ...my baby plays the guitar, I pick a banjo now... on: March 30, 2010 12:02:22 PM
Really great job! Hope your boyfriend loves it!

I heard that Wagon Wheel was originally written by Bob Dylan, but never finished. OCMS reworked it and turned it into what it is now!
4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Pouding Chomeur (poor man's pudding) on: November 13, 2009 07:33:14 AM
Thank you for posting this. Pouding Chomeur is my FAVOURITE dessert (and yes, I am French Canadian).

Mm-m. So good!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Teach Me a New Craft Gallery on: August 12, 2009 07:34:05 PM
Oh wow. I just got ridiculously spoiled by Lindyv321. SO exciting. Here are some photos:

Opening the box (I felt like a kid on Christmas morning!!)

I got a binder with instructions, pliers and cutters, an earring specific kit (Lindyv321 knows how much I love dangly earrings!!) and TWO tupperware containers of GOODIES!!

Closeup of the first container.

Ridiculous amount of beads!!! YAY!!!

Instructions with colour photos

This is the jewelry that Lindyv321 made for me. I love them all. The domino bracelet is GOLD!!!

And the best part is that before this swap, I was feeling pretty blah about crafting in general. I hadn't done much of anything crafty in weeks. But now, I'm so energized to start on jewelry making!!! And I absolutely have Lindyv321 and this swap to thank for that!! Yay for Craftster.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Cycling Cap on: May 16, 2009 01:00:32 PM
I tried my hand at making a cycling cap. I followed the tutorial from a recent Threadbanger episode. It was actually quite simple, and I knocked it out in just over an hour.

You can read more about it on my blog: http://speed-trials.blogspot.com/2009/05/cycle-cap.html

The fabric came from the half-off bin of my local fabric store. I love that bin! I shop almost exclusively there.

Here are the pieces all cut out:

And after the first round of stitches, ready to be assembled:

And here are a couple more, from different angles:

Thanks for looking!
