1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / headbands galore !! on: September 02, 2008 05:39:51 PM
i recently knit a ton of headbands cause bangs are annoying when they're in your face and you don't want them to be ... here they are!

this is just straight garter stitch - lion brand trellis & plain black acrylic yarn.

i used this: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/saving-grace-headband pattern. it was easy and quite cute! the lace didn't really show up in the photo.

this one is an i-cord.

and this shows the colors of the i-cord better. i made about 4 more of these in other colors. they're great for keeping my bangs out of my face whilst putting on makeup/washing my face.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / "warning, beware, be careful - fragile heart" on: August 31, 2008 01:02:48 PM
it was about time for me to knit something pointless and random on my latest knitting binge. and here it is - i give you the winking heart.
it wasn't supposed to look that way..the stitch just got messed up. LOL

i used this: http://mochimochiland.com/weblog/2007/02/free-pattern-hearts/ pattern.
it was easy, and quite addictive! i'll def. be making more of these.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knit hats flat??? on: August 24, 2008 02:33:27 PM
i've been scouring the net for patterns of a hat that's knit flat but i can't find any.
does anyone have a pattern or should i just wing it & make up my own??
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Orzo Salad w/ herbs & feta cheese on: August 24, 2008 06:52:04 AM
for those of you who don't know what orzo is ... it's basically just rice shaped pasta. you cook it like pasta and it tastes like pasta. it's sounds odd, but really great for making pasta salad type dishes.

soo i pretty much created this recipe ... i got the idea from a different one but mine is a complete adaptation.

1.) orzo (however much you want, i used half of a package and that was more than enough for 3 people)
2.) whatever fresh herbs you have handy (i used basil, rosemary, flat leaf parsley & chives this time)
3.) feta cheese (just eyeball how much you want)
4.) olive oil

1.) cook orzo according to package directions. let stand until room temp.
2.) once orzo is cooled off, place it in a serving bowl.
3.) drizzle a small amount of olive oil over orzo so it doesn't stick together.
4.) gather herbs, chop them up & add them to orzo
5.) sprinkle feta cheese into the mix, stir & you're done!

and the result looks like this ...

so easy, but so delicious!!! Smiley
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / green/blue earrings & random bracelets. on: August 23, 2008 09:18:46 AM
i found some beads stashed away in my basement that had never been opened before/were sad little leftovers from another project so i decide to make a few little things out of them. (of course)

quite frankly i have no clue what to wear these with, but i just loved the combo of colors so much i had to do it!

bracelets, made with elastic cord stuff. very neutral & simple. i like the black & whit one best.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / buttons, a shell & a guitar pick! (recent creations-image obese) on: August 23, 2008 09:12:57 AM
soooo i think i've posted the button before but none of the others!
just some stuff i've made recently.

button earrings

guitar pick necklace (my personal fav)

these are other pendants i made from miscellaneous items found in this button jar i've had forever. the shell is from Florida i believe. we went there a few years ago after a hurricane and tons of beautiful shells (and sea creatures!) had washed ashore. i don't really like the first one & have never worn cause it's pink so i might give it to some one..?? i don't know what i'll do with it, but i really love it. i'm probably going to experiment with breaking other buttons in half.  Grin
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / double pointed needles??? on: August 12, 2008 04:40:34 PM
okay. i'm having issues with figuring out how to use double pointed needles to knit in the round and all that jazz.
does anyone know of a good video tutorial to help me out?? videos usually help me out best ... thanks!

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / green Lego earrings! on: August 06, 2008 08:21:00 AM
okay. so i love playing with fire and the only way to poke a hole in a Lego (if you, like me, don't have authorization to operate power tools) is to put a safety pin in a flame and stab through the lego... so this project was really quite fun, though the smell of burning/melting Legos is not pleasant. anyway, with out further ado (or rambling) here they are! my green Lego earrings. i love them already. oh yea and i wouldn't mind posting some directions if you want to know how i managed this.

9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / golf tees???? on: August 05, 2008 05:20:53 AM
my dad has this HUGE tub of golf tees that he's been meaning to put out with the garbage. (which he hasn't yet)

any ideas on something i could do with them??
