1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tablet cover on: September 14, 2008 04:51:51 PM
I have a tablet, which is a lot like a mouse, but it uses a pen.
I hate carrying it around, because it gets scratched up easily, so I decided to make a cover to protect it.  Smiley
My first time sewing a button hole, yay!

Close up of fabric, button, and my craptastic stitching:

Inside (I've sewn batting to the lining fabric to cushion it a bit):

Tablet and the Cover:

Its a little snug, so I might let the sides out a bit, but it works for now. I also want to use a little strip of fabric to keep the cord together.

I personally like black, pink, and mint green together  Grin
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / (Yet another) Jean purse {IMG heavy} on: December 14, 2007 08:42:03 PM
Who hasn't made one of these yet?

Ha, anyway..
Using Threadbanger's tutorial on how to make a jean purse (http://www.threadbanger.com/episode/THR_20070914), I figured that since I recently got a few trash bags full of clothes from someone my dad worked with (I got rid of all the stuff that didn't fit me long before I started crafting.. darn it), I'd take a pair of jeans that didn't fit me and turn it into a messenger bag (I love them so..).

I wish I took before pictures.. crud
Oh well. Here's the end result Grin

The front/flap:

The inside:

The back:

The big pocket:

The strap:

And the good thing about making a jean purse? It already comes with pockets!
I really like the stitching on the strap, and I am in love with the purple fabric. It has writing on it, but I have no idea what it says ^^;;
I put iron-ons to make it more "customized," but it's.. eh.

I even wanted to put a "hidden pocket" behind the snaps, but I made the mistake of telling my dad that, and his exact reaction was "Ahhhhh, no."
I'm pretty happy with it though, even if it is a little small.

Wow. Long post. Sorry 'bout that, but thanks for looking!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First bag, first post (IMG heavy) on: November 19, 2007 05:30:49 PM
I had been a lurker on Craftster for a bit, and I decided to pull out my Grandmother's sewing machine to try my hand at sewing after I saw what people could do when they DIY.

I originally wanted to make a tote bag, but I decided to go with a messenger-type bag since I love them so..
And here's what I came up with (no pattern, I just used a tutorial or 2)

Action shot:

Front of the bag:

Inside of the bag:

It ended up like a big slouch bag.. didn't exactly mean for it to come out that way, but it's what I got, and I'm pretty happy with it.
I actually re-did some of it because the previous pocket on the inside opened up too wide for me, so I put the purple one in instead.

Well, as my first project, I'm pretty proud of it, and I hope you guy like it as well.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Has anyone purchased from this site? on: November 12, 2007 06:41:07 PM
I was just wondering if anyone has every purchased anything from http://www.craftersvision.com/

They have a handful of things I can't find at the local fabric stores, and I just don't want to order something, only to find out the website isn't what I thought it would be.
So if anyone can tell me they've ordered something from this website before and were pleased with this company, I'd be really grateful.  Smiley

And sorry if this is in the wrong place..   Undecided
