21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Indiana Jones Swap rd. 2 (Sign-ups: CLOSED, send-outs now 6-16) on: June 02, 2008 11:08:13 PM
Normally, I would choke when I saw the "$12" cost...but ours here in Chattanooga, over 1 1/2 hours away from Atlanta, have gone up to $9.
That is RIDICULOUS! Where do they get off charging that? Crazy people. Crazy!!
I found a free movie pass all wadded up in a pocket the other day and about cried I was so happy.
Now, if only I could find a magical free gas pass...

Sorry 'bout the rant!

I finished my package for ISewCute! Cheesy I wanted to keep it so badly...I've been showing it to everyone, and I'm going to have to show it off once more and then mail it out before mid-week Cheesy

Oh my goodness!!! You made my demonic dachshund something? YAY!! Grin
I can't wait!! I spoil that dog rotten..and all I get in return is shedding, barking, and puddles of pee...
But it's so worth it! Cheesy

I made your wee ones (and you, too) something(s) to keep you entertained for hours!

(yes-- the most vague teaser ever!!)

I'm glad you had a backup freezer-- although that's no excuse for the indoor freezer to die! Shame on it!
I hope they're able to get it fixed. Ours died this time last year - right after I'd bought a ton of expensive frozen pork roasts and such at Sam's Club. Grrrr.

Yes, thank you, Kelda! You have been a great organizer!
That's an incredibly sweet idea, ISewCute! Cheesy
22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: I need people who are experienced with mascot costumes or costumes in genera on: May 29, 2008 03:42:42 PM
You can always go with the inflatable aspect, which is what I did when I made my life-size Jabba the Hutt suit. Although, I live in the South and hate the heat especially at conventions...so the internal air conditioning is right up my alley!

This time of year, you'd have to cannibalize the fan and control switch from a premade inflatable suit, but right after Halloween those costumes are dirt cheap - cheap enough to where I don't feel guilt buying them just for the fan! Cheesy

Granted, you'd need to use ripstop nylon, or some sort of other fabric with in suit's inner side plastic-coated to hold the air.

If you want to go the foam route, which is probably easiest, you may want to check out the boards at cosplay.com, acparadise.com, and some of the (hah hah hah) furries' boards.
Although Furries are creepy, they're very talented and eager to help others with their mascot-sized build issues.

I used to have links to foam wholesalers, but I can't find them right now!

By the way- if your suit did need shoulder supports, I recommend using old football shoulder pads. They make a great base!

I've got at least two items started, and another in the prep stages. Yay!
This is going to be such fun!
25  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: "We named the dog Indiana!": Indiana Jones Suit...a la Doxie on: May 25, 2008 09:34:30 PM
Thanks everyone Cheesy

So, he didn't get to wear this to the premiere-- but I think a Mutt costume is now in the works! I was inspired by Shia's goofy greaser hair!

Doxie wigs: should be hilarious!!

"Just say 'grab the rope'!"

Hah hah! I love that part.
Me and Indy, we're both petrified of snakes.

They did keep the stunts for the most part until you get to the end, and, well..you'll see. The cgi that bothered me involved backgrounds and creatures, and then there's the finale, and, well... You'll see.

Still, everyone should go see it! Cheesy

Also, it's not bloody at all, only a few curse words (the tame ones that show up on   general cable stations at that), and really the violence is mostly Indy kicking arse (or getting his arse kicked) and delectiblyvehicle chases which is typical Indy fare--
I think it could be just fine for taking the kids to this weekend! I was suprised they rated it that high. I think they could have gotten away with a PG rating.

Time to get back to work! I'm still in uberIndy mode and having a blast making this stuff!

Hee hee...You X-files fans should definitely go see the new Indiana Jones movie. You'll find it to be very similar in some major plotlines Cheesy

I saw the movie at the midnight show last night! Cheesy

It's...pretty good.
It's important to note, though, that I wasn't expecting much nor did I care if it sucked or not-- It's Indy!

I found it to have entirely too much CGI, though..and the light is too bright, everything softened. It's hard to explain, but once you see it, you'll understand.
I blame that on Lucas, since he's become obsessed with computer animation--which totally butchered the rereleases of the original Star Wars trilogy. Grrrr.

Also, we got premiere-night schwag card games and a plastic Indy bucket! Cheesy

I'm almost done with all of my items to send to I Sew Cute! I think she's going to love them!!

I so downloaded the demo the other night. I love it!
The Lego games are such great ideas...also, the site has alot of goodies on it for download.

I went on a very long car trip which I thankfully didn't have to drive for this weekend, so I got almost one entire project done and another half-way! Cheesy
