1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Musical Monsters on: January 21, 2013 05:55:19 PM
I had a challenge while at art school to take something I enjoy and make a product out of it.

I love musicals.
I love crochet.
So I smashed the two together and made an awesome project, at least in my eyes.

"Musical Monsters", "Dr. Frankenfurter", "Phantom", and "Sweeney Todd."
The top says "Fallen in love with a monster? Dark and brooding, mysterious... But still so soft and cuddly!"

I don't have pictures of the individual characters, but I did write complete notes while doing the project. (That I even know where they are!)

Made with yarn and felt. The box is a UPS box that I cut a hole in, painted, and glued the things I made in Photoshop on it. Then I shrink wrapped the entire project.

I am extraordinarily proud of this project, regardless of it being like... Over three years ago. I love this. I am so happy my dad was able to find it for me again after moving.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Sharpie Mug DIY Sealant? on: August 16, 2012 02:50:14 PM
I did this tutorial for DIY Sharpie Mugs. I baked it for the correct times, all that fun stuff.

I was afraid of them smudging when I made them. As it turns out, I was right to be nervous. They smudge and it wipes off completely.

Anyone have a suggestion for a sealant? Or just... A food safe sealant if I use acrylic paint next time?
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Babies, babies, everywhere... on: August 09, 2012 05:02:06 PM
My husband's friend is having her first kid. I haven't met her, but the hubby talks about how good of a person she is... So! I made her a fabulous (in my eyes) baby basket. They don't know the sex, so I stuck to a light purple and seafoam color.
I linked everything below, but I made modifications as I did them. Smiley

The whole thing together: a shell stitch baby blanket, pacifier and sippy cup leashes, teething ring (Dollar Store), a TY beanie baby zebra, and a DIY baby book scrapbook.

My first blanket. I do a ton of crochet (dolls, bags, whatever), but I feel like blankets just take eternity!
Link from here.

The outside of the book is pretty boring... Lilac card stock, dutch and hurley font (from dafont), Illustrator guides...

Example of pages inside. The original has PDF and Word documents available...
I modified their ideas, put them in Illustrator with the fonts that I wanted, then used a paper cutter to cut it all into 8x8 squares.

Sippy cup leash, link here.

Pacifier leash, link here.

One of my friend's is also pregnant, so I'll update when I find out what she's having so I can craft! Smiley
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Possible Questionable Material (likely NSFW) on: October 24, 2011 05:05:15 PM
I decided two nights ago that I wanted to try my hand at an ATC. I googled a few ways to make them thicker, nicer, etc... And realized my cutting mat is packed away at my parents, along with most of my paints.
So I grabbed my cardstock, colored pencils, a ruler, an exacto, and some cardboard, and went ahead anyway!

Here is Rogue and Freakazoid, out of my "Superhero" set. I'm not sure who else I'll do, but... Maybe. Freakazoid is the very first ATC I've ever done. All it is, is colored pencil and cardstock. No stickers, no glitter, no paint... No pazazz... But I like it anyway! Rogue is about .25" too short to qualify as an ATC, but she's enjoyable anyway!

The questionable NSFW piece ahead!

A quote from Ugly Americans, "You didn't lose your penis... Your penis RAN AWAY." I did a last minute swirly background that I'm none-to-fond of... In fact I'm thinking next time to draw the penis, paste it to some scrapbook paper, and print out the letters instead... But alas. For a third attempt, it's still experimenting, right? Wink
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / D20 Wirewrapped Necklace on: September 06, 2011 05:28:51 PM
I kept seeing this on ThinkGeek and a few etsy sites as well, so... I decided to borrow my cousin's wirewrapping kit and buy some $0.25 D20's while my boyfriend browsed the Magic the Gathering section. And viola! I don't think it's half bad as my first wire-anything!

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Removing Embroidery Pen Marks? on: February 20, 2011 08:13:06 PM
I bought a blue embroidery pen from Jo-Ann fabrics, thought I saved the instructions.
I did not. That's literally all the information I have about it, too...   Embarrassed

How do I make the blue lines go away now that I've finished it?
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Reptile/Amphibian Swap? on: April 15, 2009 03:06:59 PM
Yeah, so it's not a common swap idea, but maybe a new idea is required!

I've been looking around and there aren't a lot of "reptile" related crafts. There's always tanks and such... But who doesn't want something spiffy for a pet?

I'm just throwing this out there, if it flops... Eh, it was worth a shot! Anyone interested?
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Nerd X-stitches (Magic the Gathering and Mario Family) on: October 26, 2008 07:51:31 PM
So, first off.. This was by request of the fiance...

This looks pretty good to me. We like it.

I made this for my cousins' Christmas present. They have 2 kids, thus the baby Mario and baby Luigi.

I actually got the pattern from here.

Also, I forgot to mention that I didn't do the coloring right on Mario. I felt dumb, but it's the only thing I had remote to that color. (The nearest store was a good 45 minutes away and I haven't been up that way since I started.)
9  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Zombie Movie Inspiration on: July 25, 2008 11:38:43 PM
Well, me and my fiance have been watching a ton of zombie movies.
And after seeing some of the zombie swap stuffies, I felt I could make my own.

I have made... A "cute" zombie!
He's actually for my fiance by request... And he can't seem to think of a name.

He's actually my first "pattern" I made... I think he's got a cute charm.

Here's the front with his brains and "stitching."

And here is his tufts of hair...

I'm proud of him! Cheesy
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Vampires! on: May 30, 2008 03:18:37 PM
We need a swap for the lover's of the undead.
Whether it be through a role-play, book, movie, or just in general.

I mean, seriously. There has been at least one vampire swap I'm aware of. Why not a new vampire swap?
