1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Old torn jeans make great dog toys on: January 25, 2017 07:54:44 AM
That's what I did with my son's old jeans he gave me. I cut them into strips, tied them together and made pull toys for my German Shepherd. She loves them! They last much longer than any toy I bought for her from the pet store!
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Old Referee type shirts on: January 25, 2017 07:51:03 AM
Once again my youngest son gave me something for me to reuse/recycle or make something new. This time he gave me about 20 old referee type shirts that he used to wear when he worked at Footlocker. I was thinking maybe a quilt or something but I think trying to line up the strips would be a major pain in the butt.
Anyone have any ideas of what I can do with them? The material isn't cotton, it's like a polyester blend that's kinda silky. Some have a few small holes but I think I can work around them.
Wow, can't wait until he brings me some new stuff. My craft room is really getting crowded! haha!! Old jeans became dog pull toys for my German Shepherd and she loves them!

Onyxnox- I like some of the ideas you came up with. No they are not smooth but textured to simulate real wood. I really like the table top idea.
Daisy424- Thanks for the pallet idea, I'll certainly check it out!
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Leftover woodlike gray ceramic tile on: January 07, 2017 07:56:53 AM
I have several boxes of ceramic woodlike tile planks from a tiling job in my house. The tiles are grayish (looks like weather worn wood fencing), 24 inches long by 4 inches wide. I have no use for them as far as flooring for my home and I hate to throw them away as I have like 7 full boxes and a few loose ones. The company that did my floors said to keep them in case some get broken but I don't think I'll ever need so many (well over 100 pcs.)!
Anyone have any ideas as to what I can make with these? My husband is getting tired of looking at all the boxes and is ready to throw them out. I stopped him saying I know that I could make something with them but I've drawn a blank. Someone please help!!
5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Son gave me TONS of Pergo like floor planks. Help! on: April 21, 2013 01:40:04 PM
Thanks guys for the ideas! I was thinking about making a shadow box for my sons high school basketball uniform. I also like the idea of a headboard or wall cover, definitely after painting though! My mind is really spinning with ideas now!
6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Son gave me TONS of Pergo like floor planks. Help! on: April 16, 2013 11:09:05 PM
My son rented a storage unit and the previous renter left a ton of Prego like flooring planks. Not enough to do my living room maybe a small bedroom. I"m not crazy about the color- a off white or light cream. My son gave them to me cause he says I"m crafty but I just can't think what to do with them. They are 4 ft long & about 4 inches wide. Can I paint laminated flooring? Anyone have any crafty ideas? Seems a shame to throw them out. Thanks in advance.- Irene

Does anyone have or know where I can find a pattern for a penquin applique that I can sew onto a crocheted stocking I made? This is for my new daughter in law who loves penquins and I thought it would be perfect for her. I'll add it to the rest of the family stockings when decorating this year.

There are some pretty nice crocheted quilts at the web site
www.happyyellowhouse.com made with granny squares. I've been looking at them myself and deciding which one to make.

I usually go to Walmart to get my yarn but when they run out of the colors I need or just don't carry them, I buy yarn at www.herrschners.com. They have pretty good prices and every wednesday they have a yarn sale where you can get really good deals.
