1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to decorate naked sheets for my bed... on: April 07, 2005 05:21:14 AM
what about a simple batik or even a tie dye with some more muted tones?

you could buy one of those big foamy stamps from a craft store and use that to apply wax all over and then throw it in some dye. i have done this with bed sheets i turned into curtians. the wax can be a little messy but i liked the end result enough for it to be worth it.

i don't recommend using this for a headboard. not that its not a good idea, melissa... it's just once, there was an incident with the wall behind my bed, and someone going through it, while umm.... you know. it was unpleasant.. i am still patching wall.

someone else said something about using a wood door, i agree with this. then you can buy wooden fence posts (just 1 will do, and it will only cost a couple of bucks) chop those down to size, they may even do this for you at a home depot type place. use those fancy double sided screws and paint or stain your heart out.

also, as uncrafty as this is, ikea  has tons and tons of coffee type tables that could be well suited for this. and they have separate table tops and legs so you can customize your own.

good luck.

My favorite paper store is a little hole in the wall place in Stratford called Hudson Paper Co. I get all of my craft packaging from there, like chinese food containers for about a quarter each, and bows for a dime.

i live in stratford and this is one of my favorite places! have you seen the emus in the back!!? it's insane!

i talked some girls from work into coming up with me.. is there a decent amount of people there on either day usually? i would hate to have them take the night off and then for us to get there and be alone. they are so excited!
