22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Name/ID Badge Lanyard Swap Gallery on: May 13, 2006 10:14:38 AM
Our wonderful organizer, Jennickel, has had a crazy busy week at work so I am starting the gallery thread.

swap thread: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=89577.0

craft_t_chic sent me a awesome lanyard and completely matches my cube. She even sent extra thread and buttons. I love buttons, I have a ton in my craft room all sorted by color in jars.

here it is closeup laying on the fabric I used for my cube cabana. see how perfect it matches!!

and here is a shot to get the whole thing in there...as you can see the buttons are not completely covering, just a fashionable amount.  Grin

thank you craft_t_chic! now i can take my badge out of just sitting in my wallet.

25  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Animal Crossing Swap :: 1 Angel/New partner Needed **FOUND** on: March 16, 2006 08:02:16 PM
Swap Name: Animal Crossing Swap
Original Thread link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=80167.0
Gallery thread link: None yet, send out date is 3/24
# of Flakers: 1

Apandalee needs an Angel/New partner. == Found. Thank you Fabric!

Her partner's account is listed as "Account is awaiting approval for deletion". So at this point we are playing it safe and assuming she is AWOL, whle hoping it is a mistake (flaking makes me so sad).

Since the sendout date is one week away you could be a full participant in the swap (Mods-if this type of angel should not be posted here just let me know). I have no problem extending the send out a little to accomodate this.

Apandalee plays AC on the game boy DS and would love a holder for the tiny DS game cartridges. She is in the US and unable to ship outside the country at this time. She like pink, blue, red, jewel tones, rich brown, black & white, candy colors. She knits, makes jewelry, and does a little sewing.

Thank you.
26  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Burda Magazine January Hoodie on: February 19, 2006 09:32:34 PM
I've been getting the Burda magazines for a few months now, but this is the first pattern I have made so far. This is a wearable muslin to test out the pattern before I make one for Lasandri for a swap. The final one will be a combo of these two:

For this I used a dark grey t-shirt jersey rather than a sweatshirt fleece. It still needs hemmed and I just did hems on the sleeves rather than ribbing. The seams are serged rather than the lapped seams in the directions. I think doing it this way may have caused my problem on the front. The ends of the hood inlay were pulling, causing an unsightly effect. I ripped all that out but to get it to lay flat I had to leave a large gap between the front and the inlay.  Tongue That is where the polkadot fabric comes in. I just used this to cover the gap and make it look a little bit on purpose. I may add some ciircle pockets since I would up leaving off the pocket in my fit of rage at messing it up.

Other than that mishap, and using whire interfacing for the grommets (oops) it went pretty well. It is the largest size the pattern came in, 44, and it fits pretty big and comfy. I think in the sweatshirt fabric it will be less loose. It is a two-dot difficulty pattern and the instuctions are Burda-normal sparse but easy enough to understand.

28  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Animal Crossing Theme Swap? on: December 21, 2005 03:42:22 PM
So am I the only one here over 8 years old obsessed with this game?  Grin I played from day one on the game cube and my little character Pixie is now happily on my DS.

If there is interest we could have sign ups after the new year, or even spring if everyone will be busy with the other post-holidays swaps.

29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Hip Belt \ Bag on: October 27, 2005 12:21:35 PM
For a recent swap I used the tutorial for the hip belt from the Clothing board https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=47995.0 and created a hip belt.

brown thin-wale cord for the outside, turquoise crinkle gauzy-like cotton for the lining.

rather than ties there are loops on each end for clip or ribbon closure
30  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Cube Cabana...or what to do when the office is too bright on: July 30, 2005 02:06:01 PM
A couple of weeks ago we changed offices to a new building. Well, at the new building the cubes are really short and the lights are way too bright! At the old place we were able to unscrew the bulbs and make the area more dim - no such luck at the new place.

The first day my head ached all day from the lights so I fashioned a canopy from from file folders. That became a pattern to fasion a nice one from fabric. Here it is:

cotton calico for the inside, flocked grey fabric from the $1 at WalMart for the outside, bias binding for the edge. The center is Peltex interfacing to make it stiff. I used large grommets to attach the dowels. Velcro keeps it attached to the monitor along the top edge and a small square on the back. The dowels also use velco to stay on the montor and make for easy adjustment of the canopy.

So far I've made one other one for a co-worker and a couple other people are interested too. A co-worker has named it the cube cabana.  Grin I can take some more detail pictures if anyone is interested. Just that little bit of shade helps my head from aching.
