231  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Dia de Los Muertos Embroidered Quilt on: January 26, 2005 01:44:03 PM
I'm thinking of making a quilt of squares embroidered with an overall theme of "Dia de Los Muertos".  I am in love with the imagery and colors that are used.  I'm going to use the patterns off of Sublime Stitching and I'm going to print some pictures off the net onto transfer paper.  I'd love to know what you guys think and any suggesstions, and I'll post pics as it comes along.  Also, any suggesstions on where to find some pics would be awesome.

Xanthia, maybe I'll try the large, it never hurts to show off what ya got.  As they said in the producers, "If you got it flaunt it." Thanks for the advice.  Tell me how it works out for you.

I made one of these about 3 months ago, and I use it everyday, I LOVE IT!!!!!!  I have gotten so many compliments on it and have already made 5 others for friends.  The reason I chose this project was that I live in an apartment and at one point had 2 other female roommates, so you can only imagine the amount of plastic bags we had, I was looking for something besides those recycle things at the store to do with them.  I saw this and fell in love with it.  I was a little afraid of how durable it would be, but WOW!!!! I was majorly supprised.  I am so glad I tried this, it's a great project, and if you want to make one out of black, try using black trash bags, like the kind you use for leaves.  I made mine out of target and best buy bags, I'll post a pic as soon as I can.

Count me in, I'm gonna start just as soon as I get my yarn from Herrschners, ordered it yesterday, I'm really excited, this is my first sweater.  I've been knitting for 4 years, but never had the discipline to try a sweater.

For Megan, I understand the big bust thing, I'm a 36DDD, so I'm gonna make it in an extra large which I think will work, the best way to figure it out is to measure around your entire bust while wearing the bra that you think you'll be wearing with the shirt and then go with the bust measurements according to the measurements in the pattern.  That's what we've always done in costuming, just my take, it's what I'm doing.  Hope that helps a little.

That is so stinking adorable, I'm so excited to go and buy some more kool-aid now.  You can always use another reason to buy kool-aid.  Thanks for the info.
