1  My yoga mat needed a home... in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Danele on: February 11, 2009 09:58:54 AM
...so I made it a bag!

My yoga mat bag used to be a pair of Old Navy corduroy cargo pants.  They were from when I was in middle school (I'm 20 now), and one of the cargo pockets had ripped in half...twice.  So, however much I loved those pants, it was time for them to move on.  After I received a yoga mat for Christmas, their destiny was decided.

The pictures!

Chillin' by my back door.

The Top Cargo pocket holds my mat cleaning spray (made with tea tree oil and lavender) and my cleaning cloth.

The bottom cargo pocket currently holds my hair ties, but I could also fit my cell phone and some cash.

My dog Happy approves!

So, what do you think?

2  My New School Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Danele on: September 01, 2008 11:22:39 AM
I'm a junior in college now, studying elementary education and psychology.  I'm going to be doing my first observations this fall, and wanted a school bag that was both practical for all of my school stuff, and stylish/grownup enough to bring to my observations.  I was inspired by heartofmary's post (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=254975.0).

The front of the bag.

The front pockets and magnetic snap closure.

Something I loved about the tute's design, the zip-flaps.

The inside, with some books.

Here you can see the zippered divider pocket that I added to the original design.

The back of the bag, with a big pocket that has become home to my planner.

The full bag, with an adjustable strap.

I just started sewing in January, and this was the first bag I have ever attempted.  I'm really happy with how it turned out - let me know what you think!

3  Bibs! (Rocket and Fruit) in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by Danele on: December 22, 2007 04:57:50 PM
So, I taught myself how to embroider over the summer, and fell in love with the Sublime Stitching patterns.  I babysit twice a week, so these two bibs are for a 10 month old little boy.  I used the "Atomique" and "I Luv Veggies" patterns, and some blank terrycloth bibs that I found at Kohls.

The Rocket!

Dancing Fruit!

Hope you enjoy - please comment!

4  Beatles Yellow Submarine in Needlework: Completed Projects by Danele on: December 10, 2007 08:08:01 PM
Hi!  I taught myself embroidery over the summer with the Klutz "Simple Embroidery" book.  After discovering the Sublime Stitching website, I decided to embroider pillowcases for all of my friends for Christmas.  Since it's not a Sublime Stitching pattern, I decided to post it here.  This is my second embroidery project.  I just entered it into the Sublime Stitching Handmade Gift Contest, so I hope it'll be good enough for a win.

The whole thing:

George and Paul:

The Yellow Submarine!

John and Ringo:

Comments greatly appreciated - hope you enjoy!

5  Rock Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Danele on: October 16, 2007 11:48:30 AM
I'm a nanny twice a week, and the girl I watch wanted to paint rocks.  I forgot how fun this was!

The Golden Snitch:

Pretty face rock:

I've never shaded with anything before, and doing it with paint on a rock was just fun!  I love how the snitch came out.  Tell me what you think!
