111  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Virgin clothing post....be prepared.....(or scared) on: November 15, 2007 07:53:43 PM
These are projects I have recently finished and they make me wish I had more time to sew...sigh....
Here goes...

Mustard yellow dupioni and fabulous vintage (feels like nylon or poly) multi material skirt. Made from my own pattern - and I was so pleased it didn't look all stupidly freaky! Does need ironed though.....

Little mustard dupioni dress (can't remember which pattern) for my daughter with a cute little dragonfly jewel iron-on and matching blue buttons. I just sewed the buttons on and attached snaps underneath so I wouldn't have to do buttonholes...and yes, I am actually that lazy.

Pinky-red sandwashed silk dress with a cute daisy lace collar. I love the material and the pattern was easy, but makes my legs look like stumps (and I'm 5'9"), so I think I'm gonna cut it down for a tunic with split seams on the bottom. What do y'all think?

White tunic/coverup....

Super fab tent dress (made my own pattern - (patting self on back)...made with wine dupioni. Need to still add the ties to the back to tie it, but I'm thinking now that it needs a big fat ribbon sewn under the bust for an empire type feel...plus it would look really cool tied in a bow on the back. What do you think?
112  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Skirt/poncho = skoncho (pirt???) and armwarmers on: November 15, 2007 07:38:31 PM

Recycled sari silk skoncho (hehehehe...I suck at making up names for crap) that when I handwashed it and then air dried, sucked the life force from my body when it was realized that the overtwisted yarn fell apart in BIG GAPING holes all over the stupid thing. Took me a friggin' year to make this on the Knifty Knitter yellow long loom (I have a 1 & 2yr old) and took forever to fix them all!!!!! I DON'T recommend using recycled sari silk yarn on the looms....it sucked big dogs.
The armwarmers are my first FO that isn't a friggin' scarf - YEA me! I didn't follow a pattern, so they are a bit wonky....oh well.

Comments & criticisms always greatly appreciated!!
113  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Freeform bags bags bags on: November 15, 2007 07:15:00 PM

Pink, orange & red banana silk tote - freeform (which basically means that I had no clue as to what I was making until it decided to be a fab LOUD bag!) and sunglasses cases (or whatever) with leftover Egyptian cotton and Frog Tree alpaca. Just click on the pic to view bigger pics (I hope...) Sad
Comments & criticisms always greatly appreciated!!

114  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sweet peas, the biggest poncho EVER and various other crazy crochet.... on: November 15, 2007 07:10:41 PM
This is what keeps me sane (I have a 1 & 2 yr old)....so here is what I've been working on...

The Sweet Pea Shawl from Happy Hooker in Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK

This is my (I think) 18 skein poncho made from Nature Cotton....live it, love it, wear it.

Super stretchy headbands (single crochet) made with Breeze (teal) from Heirloom and Classic Elite Star (Lobster). Take that Calorimetery!
(just kidding...I just don't have the time to do that one yet...maybe when the kids are older)

Cotton Tots from Bernat single crochet baby bib. I find it is harder for the rugrats to take this one off...plus it covers more area, so less spills on clothes.

Shroat, shracket, shrug??? Can't remember the name, but the pattern came from DIY's Uncommon Threads show. This is made with Mystical Creation Yarns wool/silk (65/35%) - love the yarn!

ponytail holders made from leftover yarn - Chinchilla for the small ones (single crochet) and Nature Cotton for the others (tied around).

Knot Ugly Shrug from HH and made with Belle from Berger du Nord - 100% silk (can ya tell I gotta hard on for silk?).
Comments & criticisms always greatly appreciated!!

118  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Hair scrunchy from the yarn that is tied around hanks to keep them from tangles on: October 13, 2007 09:54:17 PM
This is one of these things you have no idea what to do with.....
I have been saving the excess yarn that the yarn companies use to keep the hanks from tangling....and I had no idea what to do with them up till today. I decided to use them, cut them in half, and tie them around a ponytail holder (the no pull - Scunci kind) all the way around and trim them up for a kinda punky look. I also have single crocheted around them with leftover yarn from other projects - but you have to be sure and PULL hard to make sure that you are covering it all when it is stretched.

119  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My new Gee - TAR painting....this is what happens when abstract goes bad... on: October 12, 2007 10:14:07 PM

Another painting in my black/white series....abstract guitar. Hubby took the pic & I just had to paint it... Not too bad, but not great either. Can't be good at everything. Mabye I'll try something different next time the kids are asleep.....
Let me know what ya think!
120  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My freakish pound puppy painting on: October 11, 2007 09:54:37 PM
This is my first ever post with pics - so please be gentle!
I finished this painting in a couple of hours tonight - but have been meaning to do it for awhile....(ahem) I have a 1 & a 2 yr old - so very little actually gets done that I mean to do.

Let me know what ya think and or suggestions to make it better. I totally needed a smaller canvas, but I screwed up and used too big of a one, hence all the black - also, don't mind the white edge...its actually another canvas I'm priming. I do feel this is def one of my best!! Yea me!!
