2  Baudelaire Socks in Knitting: Completed Projects by smudgeness on: May 09, 2011 11:26:37 AM

I finished my beach socks! (http://ekatearcher.blogspot.com/2011/04/wip-wednesday-beach-socks.html=in progress here) I absolutely love them. The pattern is http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baudelaire (Baudelaire by Cookie A).

This was such a good knit. Since these were my first toe-up socks, I had a little trouble with the toe. But it was smooth-sailing from there. The second socks felt like it took a quarter of the knitting time the first one took.

This pattern has been in my queue forever. I haven't been able to find solid sock yarn near me until I moved away to college. (I love the cable up the side.)

lovely, berry pink socks for spring. Smiley

3  sweetheart hat & free pattern link in Knitting: Completed Projects by smudgeness on: February 01, 2011 02:05:45 PM

Happy February! To celebrate, here is a new free pattern. This hat was so easy but it's also super cute. Smiley

Sweet as sugar, this hat is a better gift than candy & flowers.

A nice off center bow... but you could wear it to the front too.

A very simple knit.

For the pattern, visit the Ravelry Page:http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweetheart-5.

4  Tori Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by smudgeness on: January 19, 2011 02:23:30 PM

My friend from school bought me some yarn (at wal mart!) to make her a hat, and this is what came from it. (It's lionbrand "tweed stripes", I can't believe how much I like this inexpensive yarn.)

It's my own pattern, slightly slouchy with tight ribbing & a scatterbrained lace pattern.

The ribbing looks extra nice with this color palette.

And it's warm too. Smiley

p.s. please excuse my crooked smile.

5  Watershed Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by smudgeness on: January 09, 2011 10:57:59 AM

I finished my first serious knit of 2011: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/watershed (Watershed)
This beautiful little sweater was a pretty quick knit.

I considered adding buttons, but decided that I did like how it hangs open. I like the drape of this yarn too. (Same as I used for my Ballet Sweater http://ekatearcher.blogspot.com/2009/11/ballet-sweater.html

(plus, it's machine washable.)

I'll wear this with tshirts and tanktops in the summer, but for now I like how the lace looks over long sleeves. (braving the winter for these pictures turned my fingers purple.)

My only modification: 1x1 ribbing around the sleeves, I'm not a fan of rolled edges.

6  Crochet Wire Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by smudgeness on: June 17, 2010 11:51:48 AM

I used beading wire and a tiny crochet hook with glass beads and pearls to make this. I half-used This:http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/infamous-beaded-necklaces-tutorial tutorial, but changed the clasp for my own needs.

Crimp beads are such a nice invention, it looks so professional.

This is simple but pretty. It was crocheted with thin alpaca and a small hook.

Happy summer!

8  Knit/Crochet Bag in Knitting: Completed Projects by smudgeness on: May 28, 2010 05:46:45 PM

This is knitted and crocheted actually. (from leftover yarn from http://today-i-made.blogspot.com/2009/11/ballet-sweater.html) The bottom is just a crocheted circle, I picked up and knitted in plain stockinette until the drawstring part:

(Also done with the help of crochet)
A little garter stitch, some more crochet for the straps, vintage hem tape used as a ribbon, finished.

9  Angora Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by smudgeness on: February 24, 2010 02:14:01 PM

This is a new hat I knit, pale purple angora yarn and a vintage lace ribbon tie. It's my own pattern, knit on size 10 US 16" circular needles. The ribbon can be tied tighter to prevent the hat from slipping off.

It is so soft and light, you hardly can feel it.

10  Truffle Lace Headband in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by smudgeness on: January 28, 2010 02:51:29 PM

I really like this one. I hand beaded the middle on a piece of grey felt with seed beads, pearl beads, and sequins. I stitched the lace around the outside and added a few more sequins on top. The headband it's attached to is super comfortable; it doesn't constrict my head at all.

The headband came from the dollar store actually, I covered it in light purple bias tape just like: http://today-i-made.blogspot.com/2009/10/feathery-headband.html
