1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Different edges for Top-Down Raglan! on: January 11, 2009 06:59:28 PM
I started knitting a basic top-down raglan sweater on Friday, and it's now Sunday night and I am most of the way done with the body. (I'm on break from college - I can spend 8 hours a day knitting!!  Cheesy) I did a rolled stockinette hem for the neckline and I love how graceful it looks, but I'm wondering about what type of edges/hems I should do on the sleeves and bottom. Will a rolled stockinette hem add too much bulk to the bottom? (Does anyone know where I can find pictures of a sweater with a rolled edge, perhaps?)

Any other ideas for sweater edges that will match my rolled collar? The last several sweaters I've made with ribbed borders have had problems with the edges flipping up despite my best crocheting efforts to weigh them down.

Thanks!!  Smiley
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / matching!!! yay!!! purse and wallet SET on: August 25, 2005 02:47:43 PM
so i got my driver's license two days ago, and i decided that a new wallet to keep my license in would be a perfect way to celebrate. and of course a new wallet needs a new purse to put it in...

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / recording your own music on: May 03, 2005 03:13:08 PM
i don't know if this is actually a crafty thing, but I was recording my piano playing this afternoon for my mom's birthday present and I was wondering if anyone else has fun ideas for this. I just recorded it on a tape (had to redo it a couple times...I'm only 16 and make a good number of mistakes...) and my dad is going to help me later to digitize it and put it on a CD.

It's a good prezzie for Mom and Grandma for Mother's Day because they don't care about my mistakes Wink

What else can I do with it to make it personal?
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / cropped crochet sweater pattern... on: April 24, 2005 11:59:23 AM
I have this idea in my head and need to make it into something wearable. I want it to be a cropped sweater, so just under boob level, and long sleeves and a v neck meeting with a closing (ties?) at the bottom. I tried to draw you a picture but can't work my computer  Undecided
can anyone either help me design this or does anyone have a pattern that would work?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My sister the quilting genius on: March 13, 2005 05:30:50 AM
My big sister made me this bag for Christmas to hold all my knitting stuff so I could lug it all over the world:

Isn't it gorgeous?? She wouldn't post it here, so I had to Smiley
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / extra lamb's pride yarn from marsupial tote on: March 12, 2005 06:08:33 AM
Since I bought the amount of yarn the pattern called for (silly me) for the marsupial tote in SnB, I have about two skeins of turquoise left and two skeins of hot pink. i want to do more felting, i think...are there any other quick felted bags out there that would facilitate the use of fabulous turqoise and pink yarn?
(I can't use dpns).
7  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / flipped up hems on under the hoodie sweater on: January 24, 2005 07:07:58 AM
I just finished the under the hoodie sweater yesterday (i made a deal with my mom--i'd shovel the driveway if she sewed it together  Wink ) and I absolutely love it except for one thing---the ribbing at the bottom flips up all the way around. I know SnB has methods for stopping this before it starts, but what do I do once I've knitted the entire thing? is there any way to fix this? Sorry I don't have pix, my camera batteries are recharging.
8  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / fair isle cardigan on: December 26, 2004 06:11:38 AM
I looked for a thread already up on the fair isle cardigan, couldn't find one, so here goes...

I got SnBN for x-mas (thanks, mom!) and really want to try the fair isle cardigan. however, (this is a big problem that I keep running into) I don't have all the needles I need, and I'm poor. So is it really necessary to use circulars, or can I knit the whole thing using straight 10.5s? I read the pattern through and I'm not really sure circulars are necessary.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / pearl necklaces and jingle bell earrings on: October 02, 2004 11:20:53 AM
I went all crafty and wild today and made two necklaces and a pair of earrings...my main reason for being crafty is also because i'm cheap  Wink, so when i saw everyone else wearing these great pearl ribbon necklaces i made my own for less than $5. The earrings jingle when you shake your head Smiley.
sorry if the pic is far away but i am uber proud of myself for even getting it up here.

10  UNITED STATES / Rhode Island / Project Linus on: August 14, 2004 06:33:49 PM
Hey Rhode Island knitters, crocheters, and quilters--think about joining Project Linus (www.projectlinus.org). It's a non-profit organization which makes blankets for kids in need of comfort.
Use a little of that mad skill...
