1  Ice Blue Ear Cosy in Crochet: Completed Projects by poppycock!! on: October 13, 2010 03:11:09 PM
Just a quick post of my latest project.

It's all shell stitch and took about 3 hours. It's great for not mussing up the ould hair too much- no more hat hair.

This project is so easy, honestly, a great starting point for someone just starting crochet who wants to try a more decorative stitch.

The wool I used was 50g of Jaeger Siena 4 Ply and the hook was 3.5mm

So on to the pattern my lovelies.
Chain 32,
Row 1. Single crochet into 2nd chain from hook, skip 2, {double crochet 5 times into the next stitch, skip 2, single crochet into next stitch, skip 2} repeat x4. For the next shell just double crochet into the stitch three times. Each row should have 4 and a half shell patterns.
Row 2. Chain one, turn, {single crochet into next stitch, skip 2, double crochet 5 times into the next stitch, skip 2} repeat x4. On the last shell double crochet into the stitch three times.
Row 3. Repeat Row 2
Row 4. Repeat Row 2 ... and so on
Continue like this until you have a strip of about 61cm (24 inches).

When complete twist in the centre. You can sew together or crochet the ends together.

Some background and inspiration info on my blog if you're curious.

2  Sundress refashioned from old Shirtdress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by poppycock!! on: June 24, 2010 02:18:07 PM
I've been clearing out my wardrobe lately and also I'm taking part in the Summer Essentials Sew along here: http://wardrobereimagined.blogspot.com/2010/06/summer-essentials-sew-along.html
So a little refashioning was in order.
I used to wear this dress quite a bit but its now tired looking and I'm not into shirt collars much either.

Now its cute and much more flattering:

Here's how it looked before:

And a close up of the after. The material is a little stretchy so the straps can be pulled over the shoulder tops a little bit for more decolletage.

4  Re: Holiday Ornament Swap Gallery (Sendouts: 12/12/08) in The Swap Gallery by poppycock!! on: January 19, 2009 02:50:09 PM
Everyones ornaments are so cool. I love the snow owl back there. Had multiple delays in posting thes which I won't bore you with but anyway, to the chase.
Here are the ornaments I recieved from Fosca toghether in all their glory:

Now the felt tree

I took 2 photos of the fairy because the pictures kept coming out strange- it was like she had here own little inner light!. I think the fairy is my favorite, she's made out of petals or artificial flowers.

Look how intricat this is. Folded ribbons pinned to a polystyrene core (i think)

String Star

A gold and silver heart made from a vinyl-like material.

These all adorned my Christmas tree this year. Really loved them Thanks Fosca.

5  Re: .:Undies Swap ~ Fave Themes:. in The Swap Gallery by poppycock!! on: November 30, 2008 02:55:51 PM
Here are the splendiforous underwear crafted for me by Soxymoron.

The first pair feature my themes of the orient and birds. Awesome embroidery skills, no? The motifs give the underwear such a sweet lift.  The detail on the fan and owl are marvelous, dig those orange blossoms.

This symbol means "fire" which is the meaning of my irish first name, Edana
The second set is based on my themes the sea and ruffles and bows. I love how dramatic this set is, such a treat. Can you believe this set used to be white. Undoubtedly one of the best dye jobs I've seen.
The bow is attachable by velcro. Cool eh? its not wonky nor are my shoulders 3 times the width of my waist its just a difficult shot to take.

Soxymoron, you're the best. I shall cherish my pants

6  Re: The Super Sea Swap Splendid Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by poppycock!! on: June 11, 2008 05:09:21 PM
Yey- Cooperating camera!
Here we go with my loverly crafts a-la-pogo!
The whole haul (except the poppycock pop-corn which my dearest accidentally up-ended as we were munching at it. Yummy stuff indeed though.)Complete with  dark choccies, woolen head band with mermais, clam and crab buttons, woolly octopus, decorated frame and picture, necklace and earring set, bracelet, lantern, shell bikini, shells from pogo's near-by florida shores and 4 stunning hand made cards.

Four handmade cards with sea befitting colours stamps and general deadliness.

The decoupaged frame with a beautiful painted seal outlined on the glass and quotes about selkies on the inside.

An ethereal mermaid like beaded bracelet. Really amazing bead work on this piece.

My lantern depicting different sea-birds, I can name but a few but their all great.

Me looking crazed (and shockingly icky in my work clothes) the octopus is waving we called him Terry McTenticals.

Adorned with my mermaidy headband and boobie shells and proud!

Boobie mermaid shells (so hot) and my gorgoeous necklace and earring set. I 've already had loads of admirers asking about these.

Thanks a million Pogo, such a great package and a wonderful partner!

7  Simplicity Top- super puffy sleeves in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by poppycock!! on: April 24, 2008 03:15:00 PM
Right this is Simplicity 2998 with added pockets, the main bosdy of it is made from a duvet cover I got in Oxfam and the yellow is thrifted, I've got LOADS of that yellow stuff - any ideas for see though material like this would be cool. Its not really supposed to be made in cotton which is why its turned out bleedin' huge! I also made the dress from this pattern (and in the suggested jersey too) I shall post soon hopefully.

Comments and criticisms all welcome.
