21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Bead print fabric? on: February 10, 2008 05:24:50 PM
I am also a lampwork glass beadmaker and I had a fellow beadmaker ask me about making a bag with a bead patterned fabric.  Not beaded fabric, but fabric with images of beads.  I have been searching the net for hours and can't find anything!  Any suggestions for places to check?  Thanks!!
22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bumble-Bag on: February 09, 2008 10:49:37 AM
I wanted to try to make a big, puffy bag with a more structured top and this is what I came up with.  The yellow really is as bright as the picture suggests - I love it!  The same yellow is used for the inside of the bag, the picture came out kind of dark.  I think for the next one I will try to find something to make the top section even stiffer.

My 16yo daughter loves it - so this will probably end up being hers.  I want to find a fun, black rhinestoney button or old brooch to attach to the front, just for a little splash of "bling".

Thanks for looking!

24  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My newest bag! on: January 27, 2008 03:24:22 PM
Well, this is my first post in this section.  I have made a few other bags, but this is by far my favorite!  I copied my Vera Bradley Hipster bag with a few slight modifications.  I hope I can figure out how to post pictures!  There is a front pocket with an additional zippered pocket.  Inside there are 2 more pockets and a skinny pocket for a pen.  I hate digging for my pen!

The best part is that the outside fabric is from a skirt I got for $1.50 at the Salvation Army (I did the quilting myself) and the lining is an old pair of capris I haven't worn in ages that just happened to be a perfect match!  The strap is the belt that came with the skirt and the brass rings holding the strap on are the belt buckles.  Even the zipper came out of the skirt.  Not a bad bag for $1.50!  Grin

What do you think?
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My daughter's Cotillion Dress on: January 20, 2008 05:39:48 PM
Hi all -

I've been lurking around here for quite some time but rarely post.  I thought I'd come out in the open and say "Hi" and show something I made recently.

I made my daughter's Cotillion dress this year.  Whew! I have never done anything like this before so I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
