1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Farmer's Market Tote on: August 17, 2006 11:41:23 AM
I found a great linen dishtowel at a thrift store and made this bag out of it.

Here's how it started:

Here's how it ended up:

I really like how it turned out. Can't wait to try some more stuff with some crazy 70's fabric I found at the thirft store as well!
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / A scrapbook for my husband (LOTSSSS of pics!!) on: August 02, 2006 05:16:00 PM

So here's what I've done. It's about as far as I can get. I'm out of pictures. There are a lot of pics, but it doesn't even begin to touch all the pics that Brock has taken or put up on his website or deviantart. Pardon the glare. I'm a page cover nazi when it comes to scrapbooks. They're kinda grainy too because my ISO was too high. The pages are categorized (the best I could) and then I have included little quotes from famous artists, photographers, etc (hence the title of the scrapbook). Some of his best work isn't even in here because I couldn't find them anywhere! I didn't want to ask him where they were because he would want to know why and ask 2 million questions!! I don't think I've ever gotten him a gift that he didn't know about. He's not good at surprises Smiley

Close up of the cover...

First page. Little letter to Brock. Kinda all mushy. BLEH. The little "love" sticker below the letter is actually from our wedding invitations.

Pages of flowers...

Yeah I said I was keeping it simple and masculine, but there are little flowers!! Well...I did my very best to not make this scrapbook ubber girly!

Monterey pics...((I could NOT find THE pic that I adore so much that is above our bed, printed out in a huge massive size))

More Monterey pics, but more trees and nature.

And yet, more Monterey pics. Can you guess where our favorite place is??

Lake pics and dandelions. Little quote about the perfection in nature...

Some macros...The water drop on the rose is just awesome to me!

Pics from Half Moon Bay and SF when his brother and our nephew came to visit. Little tidbit on family...

More macros of bugs and well...the blue bellied lizard.

More ladybugs...

One of my favorite pics from our trip to Yosemite in May. All the quotes on Yosemite pages are from Ansel Adams. It's only appropriate.

More Yosemite pics. Sadly, the other pic I loved didn't come out right. They ended up cutting off the bottom half of the pic and the online preview did NOT indicate that.

Some pics that Brock did some great manipulation on. Sadly, you can't see them here in these pics.

I lost my creative drive on this page as you can tell. Bummer.

I think on the back of the last page I'll put another little note about how the scrapbook isn't done and that if he just kindly shows me where his other originals are, I'd be more than happy to scrap the rest Smiley I hope he likes it.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Sewing is taking over!! (picture heavy!! - not dialup friendly) on: July 30, 2006 07:44:53 PM
I have been making tons of messenger bags lately. I just love how they turn out! I can use so many fabrics on just one project!!

Here are my latest messenger bags:

This bag is so fun! I have enough of the outer fabric left, I'm debating on making myself one! The whole bag is lined with the animal print Smiley

My mom picked out this fabric. It's lined in lime green fabric. This was the first messenger bag I made where I started adding pockets on the front of the bag under the flap and on the back of the bag.

My mom picked out the fabrics for this bag too. She said I needed to make a bag that was "toned down" and "whimsical". Well, there ya go mom!! Smiley I'm happy with how it turned out though.

I probably made this bag over 2 years ago when I first taught myself to sew. I found it looking for some fabric in a big container in my closet.

This one is for my cousin. She loves green and stars and said just make me a tote bag that has a pocket for my cell phone Smiley She loves it. I'm working on a Jack Skellington bag for her next.

I love this polka dot fabric. It's lined with the same fabric. I may need to go back and get some for myself and make a wallet or something out of it.

Thanks for taking the time to check them out!! Smiley
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I can't stop making messenger bags!! on: July 17, 2006 09:00:44 PM
Here are some more messenger bags...I'm obsessed! They just turn out so cute that I can't help, but make them!!!

Bag one:

I'm pretty much addicted to piping! Oh and buttons!

The inner fabric kinda made me dizzy when I was ironing it. WEEEEE!!

Bag two:

I wanted to do something funky with the scraps on the front of the bag. This is what I came up with.

I love this floral fabric!

Thanks for looking!!!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Orange Tote on: July 10, 2006 07:34:20 PM
I've been busy busting out some more bags for my shop. I made this tasty little number today. I love it! Reminds me of yummy tangerines!

Lately, I've been obsessed with cute buttons. And fabric flowers. I'm trying different ideas for flowers. For those of you who have sewn grosgrain ribbon onto projects before, how do you do it? When I do it, the needles holes are huge. I'm not using an upholsetry needle either. I just think it looks so bad when you can see huge needles holes on crisp white ribbon. Maybe that's just me. For now, I've been using heavy duty Stitch Witchery and pray it holds up. But I'd  much rather sew it on, ya know?

Thanks for looking.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Messenger bags made from upholstery fabric on: July 06, 2006 09:07:57 PM
So lately I've been on a retro, 70's throw back, find it on your grandma's couch, upholstery fabric binge! And I love it.

I love this fabric. Just love it! I tried to make a laptop bag with it and it flopped. So I made a little floppy messenger style bag with it.

There's pockets on each side. They're about big enough for your cell phone and stuff you want right on hand. Keys would probably fit in there too. Just not mine because I have so many keys!!

Here's the inside. Heavy cream colored canvas. Originally, I had more pockets on the inside, but when I was putting my tag in, well I put it in upside down. DOH! So I had to take the whole panel out. DAMN!I put my cell phone in there so you could get an idea of the size.

YAY! The paisley fabric is out of control, but I loved it. I'm getting a mixed reaction amongst friends. But I still like the way it came out.

Close up of the button cluster.
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first success with piping! on: June 28, 2006 09:36:31 AM
For those who don't know, the piping is that white trim on the front flap.

A close up....

Here's the inside. There are two pockets on the sides and then a zipper pocket on the back part of the bag. Then you can put stuff behind the zipper pouch too. So that's another pocket!

Inside the zipper pouch. POW with the purply-blue fabric!

I didn't put an hardware on it to keep it closed (like velcro or snaps) because the flap is pretty heavy in comparison to the bag and it's heavy enough to just flop closed. I'm just so excited how the piping turned out. I can't wait to use it on more projects!!!
