(totally late on this thread)
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What Do You Listen To While Knitting? on: January 07, 2008 11:19:04 PM
I have, occasionally, in an extreme fit of boredom and hyperactivity, thrown my bike on the trainer and pedaled away while knitting.
Imagine how much crafting I could get done if I worked for these people!
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Felting the Fetching? Good Idea or No? on: January 06, 2008 10:30:16 PM
So I finished my first fetching with some lovely hand dyed wool I found on ebay (seller: inaspin) but stupidly knit this on needles that were a bit too big. So my poor little fetching is large and bulky. Can I felt it? Will it totally ruin my beautiful cables? Help!

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What to do with handspun yarn? on: January 02, 2008 09:30:43 PM
I'm becoming really obsessed with buying beautiful (expensive!!) handspun yarn. My question is- what kind of items do you guys make to show it off in all its glory? I mean, a girl can only have so many scarves, armwarmers and hats. I'm tempted to make little wrist cuffs out of all the yarn I buy and match them to my outfits.
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I got my new yarn!! on: December 29, 2007 01:41:47 PM
I'm in LOVE with my new handspun yarn!

sorry my pictures aren't so great. The color is much more rich.
Its 100% rambouilette wool- worsted weight.  Supposedly itch-free.
Smaller skein was $10 and larger was $14. Shipping from New Mexico to D.C. was DIRT cheap and didn't take as long as I'd expected.
The ebay seller was inaspin

Question #1 There is a bit of debris in the yarn. How can I clean this out? It seems to work alright if I just run it through my fingers while putting it into balls. Any other suggestions?

Annnd.. What can I make? There's about 300 yards.

While I'm on the metro I sometimes listen to music. I sometimes find myself saying "k, p, k, p" or whatever the pattern is to the beat. That or I just listen to people's conversations.
At home, if I'm knitting, the TV is on. Though I'm not looking at it, I listen.
17  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My Mom Makes the MOST Beautiful Quilts on: December 28, 2007 10:09:31 PM
Thank you all!
I've been calling my mom everyday and reading all the comments to her. She told me to print them out so she can put them on her 'design wall'.
It is a redwood tree and a trillium flower (though she admits she wasn't really true to the way a trillium looks).

The book Kid's Knitting by Melanie Falick is a really great place to start.
Its one of my favorites.
