thanks for sharing this! i've been thinking about putting some big letters up in my kitchen but was kind of dreading painting them (because i'd likely do a shoddy job). now i can have patterned pretties super easy. yay!

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: $20 thrifted desk into craft corner goodness!! on: March 24, 2008 09:19:47 AM
the desk looks fab-o; nice work!
i'm going to be adopting an old desk in a couple weeks and i've heard it's not the prettiest thing, so i'm hoping to spruce it up a bit. did you do any sanding or anything kind of preparation to the desk before you painted? and what kind of paint did you use, by the way?

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Cooking with V8? on: February 26, 2008 08:49:46 AM
the changed flavor is almost definitely because of the low sodium. i would use the v8 for soup and be sure to add salt to taste. if you want to keep it simple, just chop up some carrots, celery, and onion, and dump them into the v8 with a can of beans (something white, like cannelinni or navy). add some basil, oregano, and let it cook for a bit.

that's why i love soup; eaaaasy Smiley
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: How to measure margarine without small measuring cups? on: February 26, 2008 08:46:38 AM
I'm not positive about this, but it seems like it should work the same with margarine as it does with butter. The butter/margarine just displaces the water, increasing volume. Density shouldn't make any difference.

But yeah, I would recommend buying the margarine in sticks so you can just chop off whatever amount you need and use the rest for toast (yummm)  Smiley
