Prompt: UFO Sightings
Team: Multimedia
Bonus Points: McMinnville Photographs, WIP it, Brain Power
Project Name: Shrinky Dink Hu & Huo Key chain
Project Link:
Brief Description:

Well I have purchase these crafty plastic boards from Daiso (100 yen shop) for quite a while. It actually sits in my drawer for nearly a year. I have also bought some sharpies but never got on to do anything, only try using it today.

I also want to craft something for my new craze after re-starting watching Chinese series, Hu Ge and Wallace Huo so I decide to draw a picture of them in animal costume. Which is inspired from a chibi drawing of Hu Ge in a deer costume.

It's my first so, I'm going to say brain power bonus point even shrinky dinks doesn't require using that much brain. LOL

I'm pretty happy with the results. Totally surprise when it actually starting shrinking in front of my eyes.

I'll definite try to find some #6 plastic to play with some other time.

And I think I'll stay in team multimedia since I am still in a big craze of Chinese series and tv stuffs.

2  Motivation to finish off a big project in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by lilyla19 on: June 26, 2014 05:10:54 AM
Hej, I've recently started a new project, which I don't think would be so big.

Well, I just moved to a new apartment, got a new pillow for my room, and came up with an idea of making my own pillowcase.

I want to make something really cute! Looking around I found this totoro chart, and I decide to make it into a pillow case.

Well, I used single crochet... and the progress is really slow..
I'm only up to row 6 in my chart.....and you know... I want to do a back side too but so far I am sort of not motivated to finish it after re-starting for 3 times.

First time, I start with 50 chain, way too small, so I started with 150 chain, after crocheting 10 rows I found out that it's way too big.. So I frogged and start with 120. And found out that single stitches are really small, so I need to add more background rows to put my totoro in the middle.

I decide to use bobbin carry on method, which works out really nicely on the crochet work, but get really tangle up and annoying sometimes.

What can I do to get myself more motivated...

I actually want to keep this thread going, try to post my progress everyday..

Or should I post it in crochetalong, to find someone to do it with me..

This is my progress so far

I haven't touched it today..

A little closed up

Challenge/Battle/Alert: August Randomizer: Alternate Reality
Team/Ninja: Commercial free all star!
Project Geekdom (if any): TV / Movie / Monster
Bonus Points: Nerdy, Super Nerdy
Project Name: Dirty Little Minions
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Well, I was watching TV, and saw a commercial about Minions the Movie 2 ... and I want to make one. They are so cute little monsters that use banana language. Fun!
So I decided to crochet a mini minion.

But I can't find so many things... black felt for the eyes, grey yarn for the glasses or my crafting glue.

So I decide to go with whatever I find.... I actually use my black nail polish for the eyes and silver glittery nail art polish (the type with tiny little sharp brush). And it dried so slow I messed it up a bit.

And the horror goes on when I can't find my crafting glue to stick the eyes on... I have to use elephant glue.

It kinda melts the nail polishes all over and sticks to my fingers.

Last, I don't really know the above.. when I tried to sew the mouth and the black polish stains so my minion has a big black pimple above his mouth.

By the way, can I claim my discovery point by learning not to use elephant glue with nail polish?

Oh and I actually want to use him as a keychain but can't find any keyrings in my stash. Nowhere to be found.

Project Name: 5 balls Long Knitted Look Scarf
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description:
Well, I want to make another scarf with 5 balls of wool I got from Japan last September.

Because my sister says that the luna-scarf I made won't be enough for winter. Tightly knit is best, is what she said. I am very beginner knitter, all my knitting hooks are occupied with unfinished project that I don't want to finish so I search for "knit-look" crochet project... and like 2 meters long crochet scarf pattern so I decided to combine both.

Finally, I end up using 5 balls of yarn and crochet 13 rows which is both a prime number!

Arghh stupid tablet. All I just type is all gone!

Well, I am bored of myself for never having enough yarn for any project.

I got this two skeins of yarn, thinking of making a hat and a scarf.

Tadah! I finished my hat and started my scarf. I'm half way done.... And figured out I don't have enough yarn for the rest of the project. What should I do?

1. Start this pattern with other yarns which I dont know if there are enough for this scarf.

2. Continue using the yarn from the hat, and start the hat over.

3. Modify the pattern, may be 2 repeats instead of 3. But then I have to redo the finished half to match.

4. Keep the finished half, pretend to be cool... And used it as it is.
But then what to do with 1/3 skein of wool.

Here is the picture of my half done scarf...

Challenge/Battle/Alert: Fandom / May Challenge
Project Geekdom (if any): TV
Bonus Points: Nerdy
Project Name: Happy Owls
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description:

I have bought the supplies for decoupage, for ages, like months before this challenge actually started but never have time to make it. So here is it! My happy owl wallet. I really love how it comes out.

Oh, and trying to link it to my own geekdom since I cannot think of any tv show that has an owl on it. (At least the one I have watched currently). Martha Stewart, also do decoupage on her tv show.

Bonus Points: Nerdy, Discovery
Project Name: Happy Owls
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description:

Actually, I have made 2 projects and I’m trying to submit both for points. Therefore, I’m babbling about that decoupage is actually a vintage technique. Our ancestors like to decorate by sticking papers onto different objects which now become the art of decoupaging.

Nah, I’m not going to use the Martha Stewart again.

Pink is actually my favorite color, same color of my many fave characters: Hello kitty , Marron Cream, Chibichibi from Sailormoon, Kirby, Pink Gloomy Bear etc.

It is also my first time using the whole sheet of paper, the other one is make up of multi tiny pieces. And it's quite hard not to rip such a thin sheet of paper while trying to make it nice and smooth and pressing hard to make the paper stick to the purse.

Sorry, if I post too many pics, I'm very proud about this!

9  Enlarging a pattern for a jacket/cardigan/shrug? in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by lilyla19 on: August 02, 2012 02:15:49 AM
No idea what to call it, but anyway, I  found a pattern I really love from a crochet magazine, which is way too small to fit me.

This pattern fits a 80cm bust, (31.5 in), but I need to it to fit my size which is roughly 44inches.

Any idea how to enlarge it? I am not that great with pattern, and this is actually the first clothing I want to make.

And thank you in advance for all the help!

Since my receipt say she has received... and she hasn't posted.

Here is what I sent to VampAracely

A cute, yellow crochet pokemon, namely Pikachu! He is a nice huggable size.

And a few candies I gathered together which I haven't take any pic of.
