11  Lelah Top in Knitting: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: March 31, 2008 05:03:36 PM
I'm really late in the Lelah game, but here is mine:

I added a pink ribbon for a really girly look

No action shot.
I wore it out yesterday and my man said he'd stay with me the day to beat the men off.  Heh!  I guess he likes it.

But here's the thing.  Silly me knitted it from the top down.  I thought there'd be no problem, just that the lace would be upside down.  Anyway, I like that - chevrons pointing down.
But... when I cast off, I realised why you do ot cast off lace...  There is absolutely no stretch at the lace bottom, and it fits just on my hips, but rides up the moment I move...  Sigh...  Any suggestions?

I was thinking of turning it around and wearing it lace up like this

Looks good too, but the lace is quite open, so may wear it with a tube and put some elastic at the top.

12  Blushingina - Orangina by Stefanie Japel in Knitting: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: February 13, 2008 07:13:14 PM
I had a ball knitting this.
I bought the pattern and showed it to my Mum, and wonderful wonderful Mama loved it and offered to buy me the yarn - the fabulous Jaeger Siena.  Knitted on 3.25mm, this is a really economical knit.  I used a total of 3 balls for the smallest size.
And like everyone else who has knitted this, it has loads and loads of ease, so knit a size smaller than you would.
It's a great pattern, with the back and front knit separately from the top down, then with ribbing on the round, so just 3 seams - 2 shoulders and 2 sides.
It's warm even though it's quite an open lace pattern, but I really do love this.  Will take it out for it's first run tomorrow  Grin
You can find out more of the gory details under my Projects in Raverly.

13  Cropped Cardigan with leaf ties in Knitting: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: December 10, 2007 09:02:49 PM
Dashed this one off in about 2 weeks

Almost done:

With action shots.  The actual colour's on half-done ones and the shot of the back.

And back...

I love the feel of this yarn.  It's cotton packed for Spotlight called Fragile Sahara

My only problem is that this stretches like crazy.  So by the end of the day, the cardi kept slipping off my shoulders.

Need to shrink it a little.
Any ideas anyone?

14  Amigurumi Clock and Happy Poop! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: December 10, 2007 04:23:09 PM
The boyfriend was in Amsterdam for a bit, so I thought I'd make him a little welcome home present.

He and the alarm clock have a real problem with each other, so I made him this - I used my own pattern, based on another someone made

I wrapped it up, and then made a little Happy Poop which I tied to the front:

No pix of the final wrapped pressie, though...

15  Knitted Pen Roll in Knitting: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: November 28, 2007 04:40:06 PM
My other half's on a fountain pen buying spree, and needed something to hold all his pens safe and snug.  I made him this pen roll to hold them all.
Pens tucked inside from left to right are the Lamy 2000, Parker Duofold and a Lamy Safari.  The Lamy Joy peeking in from the top is mine  Grin

I did it in a cable and seed stitch, with little walls of single crochet in between, then finished it off with a row of single crochet around all the raw edges.  Then I did a tie in stockingnette.

Am thinking of another design, without having to make so many little walls, which drove me crazy...  Huh

16  Sun on the Horizon Bag in Crochet: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: November 22, 2007 05:49:29 PM
I made this some time ago, and am only getting down to finally posting it.

I used some 8ply wool in this really bright yelllow, with a mix of stitches to create a lace-like look, and made some crazy increases for the front so that it would hold more stuff, so it wrinkles in the front.

For the back, I used stitches which would make the weave a little closer.

I also added pockets so that I could put my travel card and mobile in:

Here's a shot of what it looks like filled:

It was easy to make and goes everywhere with me

17  Mobile cozy in Knitting: Completed Projects by HermioneJ on: November 21, 2007 06:53:09 PM
I just bought myself a new phone and wanted to make it something to keep it from being scratched in my "holds-everything-but-the-kitchen-sink" bag.
So, here it is - mobile cozy:

It was knit in 8 ply wool in 2 colours.
I cast on 32 stitches - to make sure that the sleeve would be tight enough to hang onto the phone - and did 4 rows of garter stitch.  Then I did a 1x1 rib (k1, p1) in pink for 14 rows, and then in white.
I had a little curve at the edge, so I started with a ssk and then k2tog , 1x1 rib until the last 3 stitches, k2tog, ssk.

Easy, peasy, and so nice and thick.
It plays the double role of keeping my mobile scratch proof, and adds a fat covering in case I drop it...
