11  First art quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Deece in MN on: December 19, 2012 02:41:22 PM
I recently took a class through my local quilt guild that was outside my box and a bit of a challenge.
The class was based on Jean Wells' techniques. We didn't use rulers for any of the cutting, there was no specific pattern to follow and we had to use mainly solids.
I did keep to a color palette that was comfortable for me since the rest of the process was not. Smiley
Anyway, this is my finished piece. It is about 17" by 18" and still needs quilting, but I haven't decided yet on what thread I should use or what type of quilting would enhance the overall piece.
Any suggestions would be wonderful.  Grin

Sorry the picture is not the best, I don't have great lighting for picture taking.

12  A couple quick quilts in Quilting: Completed Projects by Deece in MN on: December 19, 2012 07:11:31 AM
A couple weeks ago I made these quilts for my niece and nephew to have on a long car ride. They are simple because I decided to do this at the last minute.  Smiley
Everything was from my stash and the tops were done from fat quarters. I also tried a raw edge binding on the one for my niece and I like how it turned out. These finished about 40" square.

13  BOM quilt turned table runner in Quilting: Completed Projects by Deece in MN on: November 12, 2012 06:03:31 AM
Lately, I have been trying to work on unfinished projects that have been sitting in my stash and this is the result of one of them.
This originally was a block of the month program that I joined at a local quilt shop in 2008.  Each month we were supposed to make 1 15" block and at the end of the year we would have 12 blocks to make into a nice size quilt.
Well, I completed 3 blocks and that is as far as I ever got with this project.  So a couple nights ago I pulled them out and stitched them together into a table runner.  I was in a mood for completion so I opted to not do a traditional binding and quilted the runner with some simple straight line stitching.
I figure this way I can at least enjoy the few blocks I did finish and knock something off my seemingly endless list. Smiley

14  Re: Anything Goes Tiny House Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Deece in MN on: August 21, 2012 05:23:01 PM
First, I have to say that I have loved all the houses in the gallery; they all have fantastic and unique details.
But, prepare to be amazed.
I received my tiny house from onegroovyday and it is beyond my wildest imagination.  I am so lucky to have received this.
Here come the pics (and there are lots of them)...

The front.

I have some fairy doors on my pinterest and OGD said that the door was her inspiration for the whole piece.  The embroidered tree is beautiful!

The side.

The back.

The other side.

The little window is so cute!  The tiny details are amazing.  There is a mushroom and a snail and little flowers and grass and more to look at and marvel over.

The little dude who lives in the house.  Smiley

He is adorable.

Here are a couple more awesome things about this house. One, the door opens and two, it lights up!!!  OGD installed a touch light in the roof; how cool is that!?!

A final pic of the detail on the roof.

This house is so me.  OGD couldn't have done a better job if she tried. Smiley
I almost feel a little undeserving of such awesomeness, but I will treasure this little house.
Thank you, again, OGD!  In case you couldn't tell, I LOVE IT!!! Smiley

15  Re: Over 30 Geezer-licious Geezer Swap Round 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Deece in MN on: July 29, 2012 07:31:28 AM
I received my package from untouchableface yesterday and it is awesome!

I wanted a welcome sign to hang outside by the door and, boy, did she deliver!

I think it is beautiful!

She also sent some yummy hand-spun yarn.  It is 75% merino and 25% bamboo.

I can't wait to knit something with it!

Thank you so much for everything; love it all!

17  fabric basket in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Deece in MN on: July 01, 2012 04:27:56 PM
I participated in the novelty fat quarter swap and received these 2 sewing themed fat quarters from MareMare.  I made this fabric basket as part of a grand prize drawing for my quilt guild.
For size reference there are 36 fat quarters in the basket.  I made it by combining and modifying 3 different fabric basket patterns.  I like how it turned out (except that I forgot to topstitch my pockets Sad ).

18  Quilt to be donated in Quilting: Completed Projects by Deece in MN on: June 17, 2012 06:56:18 AM
I was going through my stash to make some quilts to donate to kids in crisis situations.
This is what I ended up making.  It is still in its "summer weight" state, but I will be quilting it soon.
Thanks for looking. Smiley

I received from froggirl02.  More great fabric!

Here they are all wrapped up in a cute ribbon with a postcard from WI.

Love the word fabric!  The owls and penguins are so cute.  The fabric with the little outdoor bugs/creatures is so fun (the background is my favorite color so it makes me happy looking at that fabric Smiley ).

Thanks froggirl02!

Here are the fabrics I received from MareMare.  She sent a couple extra because she couldn't decide on just 4. Smiley

As a side note, one of MareMare's fabrics is a coordinate to one that I sent.  I thought that was kind of cool. Smiley

Thanks MareMare, I love these fabrics!!
