261  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Poppet: Leonardo the Lion ROAR! ~ Now with pants tute!! on: December 03, 2007 03:18:24 PM
This Poppet was so much fun to make. I felt like the fabric called to me that it needed to be a lion. I already had the fringe from another project, so that was an easy thought to come up with. His eyes are hand painted. He's modeling a pair of wide leg, distressed jeans with a nut for a snap closure, and a fake leather biker jacket, all of my design. So here he is:

262  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Pricing for doll help on: November 30, 2007 08:56:11 PM
I was thinking that little girls need these kinds of dolls to play with. Good role models from literature. A Laura Ingles Wilder doll would be fun to make. Maybe Nancy Drew, or Jo from little Women! My DH says I should make one to try and sell online and see how it goes. What do you think would be a fair asking price? I did some looking on Etsy to get an idea and a similar doll goes for $60 to $300. What would you pay for your little girl to have a doll like this to play with?
Here's the doll:
263  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Raquel the Raccoon poppet on: November 29, 2007 03:12:01 PM

She's for my sister Rachel.
264  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Anne of Green Gables doll on: November 28, 2007 10:41:36 AM
I made this doll for my friend for Christmas. Her face is free hand painted in acrylics, as are her shoes. I drafted the pattern for her dress myself.
I think she looks as if she's going to start talking to me.

265  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / doll#4 Dr Who series: Meet Cyberman on: November 26, 2007 10:09:22 AM
Just finished up another Christmas present for my boys. This is Cyberman, made with Ghilie's pattern. He's made with a stretch satin. It was a pain to work with because it was woven, not knitted. I wouldn't recommend it! His pattern on his body is done with ball point pen.(I'm getting so lazy!)

266  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / a passel of pillows on: November 22, 2007 09:05:41 AM
I wanted pillows to match my tapestry so $35 and a few hours later here's what I made.

and a detail shot:

And the before:

I am thinking about tea staining my duvet cover and pillow cases, so that they're not so bright white.
What do you think?
267  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / blue polka dots and bird mini tote on: November 20, 2007 07:09:23 AM
My first purse. Very simple with no closures. It combines my sister's favorite things: birds, purses and polka dots. I hope she'll like it.
268  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Doll #3 in Dr Who Series Meet Miss Rose Tyler on: November 16, 2007 11:27:50 PM
I know she's naked, but I just can't wait to show her off. After messing up on painting her mouth, and thinking I was going to have to sew a new head, take all her hair off and resew it, i fixed the paint job. She just needed a little concealer under her nose. You know how we ladies love our concealer! LOL! I have a great outfit planned for her, and have the pattern drafted, but, it's almost 12:30am and I need to get to bed! hopefully I can sleep. I'm just so excited about this one.

You can't even tell that I messed up on her mouth.
269  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Tired of unflattering boring clothing for round figure on: November 07, 2007 11:00:20 AM
I see stuff I like all the time and I would love to make it for my size 18 body, but the patterns don't come in that size, or they don't have patterns of what I like. I want to make my own patterns. How do i learn from home how to do this? Is there and online correspondence course I can take? Should I get some books from the library? Perhaps make a dress dummy and start draping and measuring and make things that way? What? My sister can measure  and look at something and make it without a pattern. I think this is awesome, but she lives in Fl and I'm in AZ. It's kinda hard to have her teach me long distance.
270  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Martha Jones from Dr Who Poppet on: November 06, 2007 07:19:25 AM
This is the second doll in a series of Dr Who Characters that I'm creating for my boy's Christmas presents.

Martha Jones

Close up of her Face.

Her face and boots are painted on with acrylics. Her earrings are toggles and her necklace is a silver wire that I wrapped around a skewer to make a spring, and then attached a glass bead to. Her hair is fake fur.
I used the back side of Alova suede for her body. She has a sculptured bum, lady parts, navel and breasts.
