1  Re: Girly Girl Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by italia_rican_520 on: July 23, 2008 01:40:21 PM
I have "action shots" at home with my goodies from the lovely Jaybee, but getting to an internet cafe since my home internet is on the fritz has become quite an issue!  Embarrassed

Here are some of pics that the artist herself snapped and graciously emailed to me. I will be sure to add my "action shots" when I am able, my swap goodies were really just so lovely!

First we have a group shot...of all the lovely goodies!

I received an adorable crochet purse, 3 hello kitty magnets, a hello kitty pin cushion, a pouch to hold the magnets, a lovely bracelet, earrings and necklace.

The jewelry, magnets and pouch...the bracelet fit my wrist perfectly and all of the colors really suit me! The magnets are holding up my favorite pics on my fridge at home.

The very elegant necklace and earrings...

Jaybee totally spoiled me! I love every bit of the lovely things she made me and I am so grateful and honored that she used her free time to make me beautiful things.

I dont know about you ladies, but I literally squealed when I got my package!

2  part vegbee, part nylaskye (aka...what to do with old ratty clothes!) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by italia_rican_520 on: July 06, 2008 03:08:11 PM
Ariel has a whole bunch of jeans that no longer fit her grasshopper legs, but still fit her small waist.

Browsing craftster, I noticed 2 tutes, one by nylaskye (ruffled skirt) and one by vegbee (peasant top)

I took some $1 fabric I had stored up, an old white linen skirt that was ALWAYS too big on me, and the outfit was born!

Back view...

Front view...

Not perfect, but a cute play outfit for less than $1 is great to me!

In the future, I think i'd like to use a higher quality material for the skirt ruffle. For some reason I feel the thin fabric doesnt lay well.  Huh

Here's a QUESTION. I think the front needs a little something other than plain white linen.

What do you think? I was thinking maybe embroidering her name and a butterfly in the lower lefthand corner of the shirt?

HUGE thanks to vegbee and nylaskye for your awesome ideas!!! Your tutes were a snap, easy as can be! And in case you couldnt tell from her "oh wow i'm cute!" face, she loves the outfit!

3  Awesome bday presents when ur strapped for $ in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by italia_rican_520 on: March 08, 2008 10:59:36 PM
It was my cousin Samantha's 15th birthday and my MIL's birthday...

I love them both to pieces and wanted to do something huge and awesome

Unfortunately, everything happened at once: tuition, car payment, and so on...

So I made these...everyone likes a good purse, right?!

First is Sam's bag...

This was my first attempt at stenciling. Unfortunately it was at 3am...

Here's the inside...
I wanted girly fabric but not TOOO sweetie-pie girly cuz she's supposed to be cool. LOL
I also made my 5 yr old pj's out of the fabric, but dont tell Sam, ok!?

The pockets and the "hidden" label...she can see it, but the other kids cant

Her lunch lady actually gave her # and wanted to put in an order for one! LOL

Here is my MIL's purse...

It was made from a free Ottobre pattern that I found on the magazine's website. It was great!

She works in a vet so it had to be stain treated and I also reinforced all of the seams.

Filled with my 5 yr old's junk belongings...she was a bit jealous...

The pocket and pen holder...somehow filled with more of kiddo's stuff...hmm!

Comments, criticisims and suggestions always welcome!!!

4  "mariposa" jammies for 5 yr old and her doll in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by italia_rican_520 on: January 21, 2008 01:56:01 PM
Hi, all!

This is my first post of something i've created here on Craftster! Nice to meet all of you very talented people.

Without further ado...Baby Girl asked me to make her some new jammies, and requested a matching set for her favorite doll.

I made a simple pattern on newspaper, dug up some pretty mariposa (butterfly) fabric that I stashed away...

And less than an hour later...taaa daaa!

Would have been quicker without all the top stitching...

She wanted to wear it before it was hemmed, so don't mind the ragged edges @ the bottom!

I made this version without sleeves because our house is HOT in the winter, but i'm thinking I may need a 2nd set with pants and sleeves too!

Thanks for looking!!
