1  Yogurt Baby (pic obese!) in Needlework: Completed Projects by bexsus on: September 13, 2009 02:52:34 AM
I know there are a few people on craftster who are prepping for Halloween.... I've started prepping for Christmas.. someone at work told me how many weeks we have left and it freaked me right out!

So I decided to start with le parentals, This little doozy is going to be part of my mum's present.

I used http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/ to generate the pixellated goodness then went at it.
The original shot

Which is the aftermath of this photo

My first time of trying yogurt- my parents knew it would be a funny sight and this shot is now imfamous in our family

One in progress shot- was so concerned over how my face would come out!

I think I'm going to do a whole series this Xmas!

2  Robo-Philosophers (This topic has a weight issue) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by bexsus on: September 12, 2009 05:49:39 AM
When me and my guy moved in together I decided we needed more stuff on the walls. Not having a job at that time meant that this was my self-appointed mission.

Mr Bexsus took Philosophy at Uni so I took his 3 favourite philosophers and gave them little robot-buddies
(I think that's where their ideas really came from Tongue)

We have...

(oops a little blurry!)

All the robotniks were painted with Games Workshop paints with a teeny tiny brush

3  Funkay Alphabet in Needlework: Completed Projects by bexsus on: September 12, 2009 04:29:45 AM
I'm ashamed to say this piece took me well over a year to complete...
The pattern is from Jan Eaton's 'A Creative Guide to Cross Stitch Embroidery' (isbn:1853681229)

Having borrowed the book from my local library I copied down the OUTLINE onto ordinary paper (I really don't understand past-me) and had to work out the number of stitches per letter.
Luckily, about a year later my Nanny found a stack of cross-stitching books in a charity shop and grabbed them for me- in that pile was the book necessary for this bit of work.
so, finally here it is...

Especially proud of my M, hey look I'm in the pic too! ^_^

4  V for Very old project... in Needlework: Completed Projects by bexsus on: September 12, 2009 03:09:54 AM
Here I go again,
whilst wandering through my flat (ha- makes it sound enormous- it's not) I realised just how much stuff I've made/stitched up/done that I never bothered to put on craftster... ooops.

So here we go after that pre-amble, my V for Vendetta quotable stitchery.

The frame, I'm pretty sure, was aquired at the dump and throughly cleaned then painted a glossy black.

My type transfer method was to print out the font on acetate ( we had a lot of it at the time) then use that as a template to then roller on fabric paint!
It seems like an awful lot of work and I'm not sure why I did it that way!

C+C welcome

5  I has a homemade art! (Pic chubby) in Needlework: Completed Projects by bexsus on: August 07, 2009 02:44:15 PM
Been going around my flat trying to catch up on documenting all the craft of the last few months....
never sure how many pictures constitutes a weight problem Tongue

You actually can't... stubborn lil cherubium.

Inspired by TF2, mine and my bf's favourite taunt of the sniper. I think visitors are a bit baffled by it at first- being the most notable thing you see after leaving our loo!

Which lives ontop of our fridge.

CC very welcome!

6  Union in Needlework: Completed Projects by bexsus on: July 14, 2009 03:02:26 PM
Did this lil bit of x-stitch on a quilted cushion for my mum's birthday
there's something so therapeutic about stitching teeny tiny stitches repetitively!

CxC welcome!

After many many years of wondering I finally had the thought of:
"Could you knit with strawberry laces?"
in the right place. I bought some, very cheap and probably v bad for you, co-op laces and went to work.

sorry for big size- love the lighting- makes the lace thing look extra yummy!

now i have no idea what to do with it!!
eat it or....?

8  "Captured Garden" -eek! in What the heck can I do with THIS? by bexsus on: September 23, 2007 07:29:45 AM
I went to a carboot sale today and found, to my delight, this object...

now i'm hating it- there's this flakey glue that is holding the dome and the base together-
i HAVE to get into it- there's half a dead butterfly in there- ick!

I was thinking i'd love to put a funky dollshouse chair in there or something- maybe change it everyso often..
but with this gydafg glue i can't do anything
chipping it away is taking an age and i'm not sure it'll work completely...

10  Monty Monkey in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bexsus on: September 10, 2007 11:38:16 AM
As a companion to my knitted tank https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=195309.0 (a gift for my dad) i decided to make a lil Field Marshal Montgomery sock monkey.

My dad is a major tank nut so Monty is kinda a hero...
Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, KG, GCB, DSO, PC (17 November 1887 24 March 1976), often referred to as "Monty", was a British Army officer. He successfully commanded Allied forces at the Battle of El Alamein, a major turning point in World War II, and troops under his command were largely responsible for the expulsion of Axis forces from North Africa.

Lol hope i'm not the only history nerd who has done this  Tongue
