Oh, I love this!  A tattoo of it would look great.  Have you ever heard of Joe Havasy?  He paints some of the most awesome pictures...you'd probably love him.  Esp. his Frankensnail Print:

Everyone's looks fantastic!  I've been eyeing this pattern for a long time.  Noro is definitely too expensive for my budget (and way too itchy on my skin), so I was either going to use Patons SWS or that Joanns yarn that comes in 800 yd. skeins.  I seem to have one in every color.

Hey!  I made one of these last year for school.  I used Patons Classic Merino and the directions for the smaller size.  I also changed the pattern to be knit flat to give it more shape, and oh boy did it come out huge!

Anyhoo, I'd love to join in.  I have a lot of Patons in hot pink, white, and black.   Maybe this time I'll actually follow the pattern. Wink

Edit: I think I'm actually going to go with one strand on US10 or 11 needles and use the leftovers to make a matching lunch bag: http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter06/PATTbrownbag.html
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone been to these Wisconsin yarn shops? on: August 08, 2007 11:49:35 AM
In a few weeks I'm taking a quick trip up to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin.  I have found three yarn stores in the surrounding towns (I can't be expected not to look, right?)  So, what I'm wondering is, has anyone been to any of the following shops?  How are their prices, yarn selection, attitude, etc?

In Delavan:
Needles 'N Pins Yarn Shoppe
Studio S. Fiber Arts

In East Troy:
Linda's Yarns

I posted something similar to this in the 'City Guides' section, but figure more people come to this board.

Thank you!

Um...yeah, what the topic says.  I'm going to Lake Geneva in a few weeks, and am just wondering if it would make a good yarn stop?

I like your idea, but have taken it a step further... How do you like this logo?

Holy crap!  I really like that -- it's perfect for a business card as well.  ...Can I use it?  We could do a trade for your time or something...
28  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Opinions on my new logo and banner? on: July 17, 2007 07:45:25 PM
Hey, I just started a new etsy shop (Robot *Heart* Squid) since I found out that my other one is already used as someone else's crafty domain.

Anyhoo, I wanted a logo that was a heart made to look like a gear.  After a lot of drawing, I came up with this:

My question, what do you think?  Does the heart look like a gear?  Have I accomplished my mission?  Criticize me!

29  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: How did you come up with your brand name? on: July 17, 2007 07:30:13 PM
My first one, Dog*N*Pony*Show, came about because a.) I like the saying and b.) it's a line in one of my favorite songs.

Unfortunately, I googled it and found out that there is another (crafty) site with the same name, so in the long run I'd never be able to buy a domain.

So I just created another etsy shop.  It's called Robot *Heart* Squid.  For the entire story, I'd have to ask my friend, but it's basically an inside joke of ours that came from a comic we used to draw.  Plus it doesn't put a limit to what I can sell.

Just think of sayings/words/books/music that you like, something that relates to what you make (esp. if it can be narrowed down), take a look at other languages, etc.

Good luck!
