2  Opinions on my new logo and banner? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by taped_on_wings on: July 17, 2007 07:45:25 PM
Hey, I just started a new etsy shop (Robot *Heart* Squid) since I found out that my other one is already used as someone else's crafty domain.

Anyhoo, I wanted a logo that was a heart made to look like a gear.  After a lot of drawing, I came up with this:

My question, what do you think?  Does the heart look like a gear?  Have I accomplished my mission?  Criticize me!

3  Re: Baby items knit-a-long? in Knitalongs by taped_on_wings on: January 22, 2007 05:25:12 PM
Here's my baby bounty so far.  These are for my cousin who's due any second now.

I made another hat that's on reserve for my best friend (assuming she'll have a girl), who just found out she was expecting again.  I also found a pattern for a super cute hoodie that I'm going to start once I know what color would be good.

4  Re: New Knitty's Calorimetry in Knitalongs by taped_on_wings on: January 08, 2007 05:08:24 PM
I made this about a week ago.  I cast on only 80 sts and used Plymouth's (?) Paris Rainbow.

I don't think it's actually a striping yarn, but I love how the colors landed.  It's a lot brighter in person.

5  Knitted marionette sculpture in Knitting: Completed Projects by taped_on_wings on: December 26, 2006 06:31:02 PM
The final project for my sculpture class was to create a 'thing' that implied something.  After way too many project changes, I came up with this.  Knit in Patons Classic Merino and Bernat Softee Chunky.

The hands were made using Knitty's Urban Rustic Gloves pattern and then felted so they could be formed to realistically hold the scissors.  For the 'arms' I just picked up stitches and knit a few rounds.  The first one in the picture is already felted.

Here's the finished puppet sitting in my dad's recliner.  It's faceless so it can be anyone you want...and it's more than 4 feet tall.  Knit in two weeks.  I used the basic shaping and finishing directions for the Knit Your Own Rockstar in SNBN, but the rest was completely made up.

I was so mad that I forgot my camera and had to use my crappy phone.  This is it all set up -- a marionette cutting himself lose.  And yes, what it's attached to is supposed to resemble a cross.  The scissors are real (although I tried to knit those too).

I got an A.   Grin

I can't believe I forgot to post my blue craft!  I used this as my Halloween costume, seeing that I just got to stay home and hand out candy.

Haha...I finally finished the turtle.  I used Red Heart's Bright & Lofty, because for some reason I had so much of it.  So it's a huge patchwork floor cushion that my cats are afraid of!   Cheesy

The orange thing is a ruler.

Mixed Media Sculpture

*Sketch out ideas - at least five pictures
*Make mock-up

By the end of Sept:
*Craft supply round-up for garage sale
*Tons of cat toys
*Finish knit turtle

*Start dino mittens
*Finish tube socks

I've been so busy with class lately -- Last week was dedicated soley to the freeform knitting part, and yesterday I got the entire chicken wire body form done!  I'm going to try to take pictures next week.

Today I sewed and stuffed all the pieces of the turtle I've been working on forever.  It was a destashing project using the pattern from The World of Knitted Toys and Red Heart Bright and Lofty (instead of DK weight).  So instead of it being 10 in. long, it's a 3 feet long floor cushion.  Tongue

The orange thing at the top is a ruler...

I dropped the artist book class.  I looked up one of the books she suggested and realized that I could learn everything and more by just reading the book.  Plus all the materials she wanted us to buy added up to more than $175  Shocked.  I'd rather spend that on my sculpture class.
Artist Books

--All five of the same drawing 10/2
*Start looking at different book artists 9/25
*Find a book to alter

Last week I got to be the subject for and experiment on a cheaper way to make casts -- got my hand and arm done -- and that led to an awesome idea.  I just need to sketch it out, get it approved, and make a mock-up of it.  I can't wait!!!

I finished my tube socks!  They look funny on me since they're for my mom, who has quite tiny feet.

nosyred -- Love your pencil case!  Did you make the chart yourself?

Not much knitting has been done lately, but I did finish my tube socks (about 10 minutes ago!)

They look a bit funny on me since they're for my mom who has insanely small feet.

My bags and other school knit stuff is being put on hold for now.  My multi-media sculpture class is going to take up a lot of my time, but I'm actually using knitting in my first piece!
