1  EMBROIDERED Italian Princess in Needlework: Completed Projects by Nini Makes on: May 09, 2008 02:17:53 AM

Embroidered drawing by my 6 year old daughter on a piece of antique linen. It's an Italian princess. We collaborated on the colour choices and this is our final piece. It was harder than I thought it would be to keep it exactly like her drawing - had to simplify it here and there.

Here is her original drawing.

2  FABRIC AND BEAD STAR DECORATION in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Nini Makes on: April 07, 2008 11:21:43 AM

Here's a wire and fabric star decoration that I finished off with some vintage crystal beads. Have no idea where the heck an item like this might go, is this the place?

3  Embroidered & Applique gift bag for a little girl in Needlework: Completed Projects by Nini Makes on: March 04, 2008 01:17:17 AM
Antique linen gift bag.

Here's a little gift bag I made using antique linens, a Liberty print applique and embroidery. The little girl who received it was very pleased,
mainly because her name is on it!

4  BIRD CARDS with found bits in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Nini Makes on: February 28, 2008 10:53:05 PM

Here a couple of cards I made with bits found around the house: Used gift wrap bodies, vintage buttons eyes, raffia legs, scrap of lace for wings, and feather plumes.

Thought they looked a bit like spring!

6  Reuse plastic fruit containers - a tutorial kids will love! in Completed Projects by Nini Makes on: September 14, 2007 05:02:22 PM

Ive worked out a few projects for children that use up the horrible plastic containers fruit sometimes comes in. This one will help bring a bit of colour to the grey winter months ahead. Its so simple instructions arent really necessary, but here they are just in case it looks mysterious for any reason.

Lid from a plastic fruit container * a fine permanent marker * various colours of tissue paper * white glue * paint brush for the glue * a tapestry needle and thread in any colour * scissors

1. Slowly peel any stickers off the plastic lid.

2. Using a permanent marker, draw a simplified picture on the lid (this can be done on paper first, then put the lid over the paper drawing and trace it with the marker.)

3. Tear or cut up small pieces of tissue paper choosing the colours that best fit in your picture.

4. Paint glue on the lid over the picture youve drawn and lay pieces of tissue down to colour in your picture.

5. When the tissue is finished paint another layer of glue over the picture and leave to dry.

6. Poke holes in the two top corners of the lid with the tapestry needle, and tie a thread loosely through the two holes leaving enough to hang the picture.

Hang it up in a window and see the colours shine through.

7  Recycled clothes peg bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Nini Makes on: September 02, 2007 04:37:12 PM
I got finally got tired of carrying my clothes pegs around in an old ice cream container so I made this.

I used the best bits of an old, stained Cath Kidston oil cloth, table cover and a plastic hanger that sometimes come with children's clothing. It's quite simple and makes hanging the laundry much more fun! If anyone is interested in the pattern or tute - leave me a comment on my blog or PM me.
