1  Florida / Florida: Central / Tampa Area Craftsters? on: June 11, 2010 07:08:41 AM
The Tampa area seems to be a bit quiet here on Craftster. Is anyone in the area interested in starting a Meet-up type group? I would be happy to organize through meetup.com, but since there is a cost involved I'd like to know people are interested first. So, if you are in the Tampa area and are interested - let me know!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Doctor Strange embroidery on: February 07, 2010 02:49:56 PM

My plan was to make my husband a quilt for Christmas, by embroidering the comic sketches that he's collected over the years onto the squares. Life got in the way, and I only had one complete by Christmas...but, it is his favorite character, Doctor Strange (based on a sketch by John Romita). I've already started on a (Phil Noto) Superman and a (John Byrne) Thing. Each character will be stitched in a different color. This is the biggest project I've ever attempted, so I'm hoping that posting about it will nudge me into action to finish it up!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Zombie Hanky on: May 22, 2009 04:50:02 PM
I stitched this hanky for my partner in the latest Jar of Whimsies swap - and she liked it - hooray! I'm relatively new to embroidery, but I really enjoy it. This was a little difficult for me, because the fabric of the hanky was super thin. I drew the zombie myself, but my husband thought he needed a little something extra, so he added the spinal cord hanging off the brain and the rib cage.

*I should note that I didn't do the wonderful edging on the hanky - I bought it that way at a local antique store.

6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My geeky Valentine on: February 16, 2008 05:23:38 AM
My husband and I love Doctor Who. My husband loves the Daleks, and I love a pun. So, I decided to geek out with his Valentine this year...

I drew the Dalek myself, so he's not perfect, but I still think it's pretty cute.  Grin
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / First project post on craftster: greeting card on: February 01, 2008 07:54:11 AM
This is my first project post on Craftster. I've just started to get into card making, and this was my first real attempt:

A birthday card for my mom. I embroidered the lil strawberry girl (from a Japanese pattern book) on a piece of felt and stitched it to the front. Since I'm just starting out, I'd love some feedback. Am I using too many embellishments, too few, etc.? Things you would have done differently?

P.S. My mom seemed to really like the card.
