11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pillowcase Overkill (Image Heavy!) on: June 22, 2005 09:47:12 AM
So some of my friends from school and I decided a great way to stay crafty and keep in touch this summer is to do a swap. Our theme was "dreams" and because I just learned to embroider I decided to embroider them each a pillowcase. I think the California one might be a bit crowded, but I had a great time making them  Smiley It also gave me a chance to try out the whole iron-on laser print transfer method and to use metallic floss. I got the banners from Sublime.

For my friend from CA. It says “California Dreaming”

Left, a Mola Mola fish, the state w/ her town and the capital and the state flower.

Right, a gold prospector, a grizzly and the flower again.

For my friend who loves Broadway Musicals. “Musical Dreams” with silver floss diamonds on the letters.

The right side, with a hat for Wicked and the Little Women logo.

The left side, featuring Phantom (her fave) and Rent.

The center with Beauty and the Beast.

Definately my largest embroidery undertaking so far! Cheesy Comments appreciated.
12  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: North Central / Knitting in State College on: June 09, 2005 11:03:22 AM
Does anyone know about any great knitting circles in State College or would like to start one with me? I was in NYC for a year (where I learned to knit!) and I return only to realize I have no one to knit with here! Boo. Anyway, if you know or would like to start one, let me know!   Cheesy
13  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Killer Pin Cushion on: June 01, 2005 11:13:31 AM
So I got my Stitch It Kit (which I absolutely love!) and decided to embroider the coffee cup just as a practice piece on some sewing muslin. Turns out I actually liked my cup and wanted to use it for something, and so the biggest pin cushion ever was born. I made a 5x5x5 cube with embroidery on each side. Crazy? Perhaps. Practical and wicked fun to make? Definately. Thanks Ms. Hart for showing me the way! Grin Now for the cushion:

Gnarly top view:

From the side!

The coffee cup that started this madness:

A wonky shoe (car rides on icky PA highways aren't condusive to stitching!)

The Eiffel Tower:

Thanks for checking her out!  Grin
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Skully Scarf for BF on: April 10, 2005 02:51:02 PM
So the second I told my bf that I was learning to knit (we're talking garter-stitch basics here!) he asks "Can you make me a skull scarf? With broken hearts on it???" Sure, I'll get right on it  Roll Eyes But I did it, hooray!  Smiley I actually made it for our one-year anniversary a while back. I wasn't quite finished on time, so for the actual day I wrapped up the unfinished scarf, the yarn and my needles. He took on look and said "You aren't teaching me to knit, are you?!"  Cheesy  Crazy kid.
So it's my second knitting project ever (the first being a plain rib-knt scarf) and my first intarsia project! Yay for learning. I think it came out alright. I used the stitch-in technique for the brken hearts and they didn't come out as clear as I'd hoped. Still, other than a bit of curling it's cute, and he wore it while it was still cold out  Smiley Anyway, comments/criticism welcome! Thanks for checking it out  Cheesy
