1  Nascar Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by **mandie** on: March 07, 2008 11:35:10 AM
Hey everyone... my friend Mandi Mae wanted a bag to take with her down to Daytona a few weeks ago.. so she came over and we made this!
The measurements came from this bag: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=11394.0  but when it came down to putting it together.. I just had to do it my own way.. haha.

And the inside pockets..
One for her cell phone, one bigger one, one for a pen.. and one for a very skinny pen or pencil- woops!

She said it worked out really well for her carry on.  The only thing I would've liked to do differently is make the flap longer and put some kind of closure on it.. velcro or buttons or something.
Thanks for looking!

2  Horace the Elephant in CHALLENGE 25 ENTRIES by **mandie** on: March 05, 2008 03:00:26 PM
Hey everyone!  I'm a little nervous about this because it's my first challenge. And also my first time making up my own pattern! WOOHOO!!  Grin
Horace is representing Jackson, Michigan.  It is the birthplace of the Republican Party.   His name is Horace because a man named Horace bought 160 acres for $2 an acre in 1829 and named it Jacksonopolis.

Here is Horace visiting the historical Michigan Theatre in downtown Jackson.

Here he is on the 11th floor of the building that I work in looking over part of the city.

This is the county building...

And me and my friend Horace...

Thanks everyone.. I seriously had so much fun with this!

3  Re: Baby leg warmers (with tutorial!) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by **mandie** on: February 10, 2008 08:58:19 AM
I made two pairs for my nieces- I only got a pic of one.  They loved them!  They are Menenite and wear dresses all year round.  I'm sure these are going to come in handy now that it's in the single digits here in Michigan.  Thanks again for the tut!  I'm sure I'll be making more soon.

4  Cabled scarf for my MIL in Crochet: Completed Projects by **mandie** on: February 10, 2008 08:53:37 AM
This is my first scarf.   My MIL just had open heart surgery before Christmas and requested a soft scarf to cover her scars- they really aren't bad- I think she just wanted a scarf!! haha.. anyway I used this pattern: http://members.aol.com/JSchlossma/ascarf.html  It turned out really nice- I had no idea you could make a cable in crochet!
The yarn is really soft so it's hard to see the cable.  It's much nicer in person.  Grin

Thanks for looking!!

5  Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by **mandie** on: February 10, 2008 08:12:51 AM
Hey everyone!  I'm so glad I found this thread!  I just cleaned up my craft corner a few weeks ago.  I'm so jealous of the size of some of your craft areas.. sheesh!  Maybe someday.  For now I just have a corner of the laundry room.
Here's the before:  Unfortunately I don't have a before of under the table.  It was rediculous!

With some of my Christmas money I got some nice shelves and my SIL got me some really great baskets for Christmas.  My son (2 1/2 yrs old) and I made a magazine holder from a green bean box (he put the glue on and I put on random clips from magazines).

A shot with Hammy:

Andy my favorite things: my basket on the right with yarn- my jars of buttons, knitting needles, crochet hooks, paper stars, my SNB books (gifts from my other SIL) and my cat pin cushion my aunt made for me that I love love love!!!

I'm still working on the material.  Right now I have a storage bin full and 2 garbage bags full under the table.  At the very least I want to get the stuff out of garbage bags and into storage bins.
Thanks for looking!!

6  Hat and Harley Hog in Crochet: Completed Projects by **mandie** on: January 14, 2008 09:28:51 AM
I got this wonderful yarn for Christmas and made this hat.. since the pics were taken I added a crocheted flower.  **Please ignore the tail ... I didn't weave it in yet..   Cheesy

And.. I made this cute pig for my secret santa at work that loves Harleys...

The hat was from a pattern in a book and the pig was from a free pattern online.  If anyone is interested I can look it up and post the link..

Thanks for looking!
EDIT:  Here's the link for the pig pattern: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27147

8  Monitor Cozy- MEOW! in Crochet: Completed Projects by **mandie** on: November 07, 2007 09:18:34 AM
I got this idea from this post https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=191516.0  I didn't crochet the ears- they are felt and the pink part is embroidered.  Also I  added the "furry" part on the front by knotting short pieces of yarn into the chain when I was finished.  I was thinking a monster for the monitor next to it.. what do you think?

and some detail.....

Thanks pickled_peppers for the inspiration!!    Grin

9  Re: 2007 Completed Costumes Scrapbook! (completed project pictures & links go here!) in Halloween Costumes by **mandie** on: October 31, 2007 01:05:39 PM
So, I have a friend at work who enjoys craftster with me but hasn't yet become a member.. but she was so proud of her costume this year that I really wanted to post it for her.  Sorry if this is against the rules..?  Her name is Carole.  you should see this thing in person.  There's a button on top and a hole for her headphones.  When we walked around the office she had her speakers hooked up to her IPOD so she played music too!! haha!  what a great costume.. anywho.. here it is!

10  Embroidered Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by **mandie** on: October 11, 2007 09:08:21 AM
I made this purse for my friend when she got married.  I filled it with fun stuff for their long ride to the honeymoon location...no bake cookies (her hubbie's fave) and puppy chow (her fave).. and a Soduko book.
This was my very first purse and I didn't use a pattern.  The white material was a tablecloth I found on clearance.. this is what I had left over from making curtains in my kitchen!  haha

This one is fuzzy but is shows the lining that matches the flower and my little tag with a star button and my name embroidered..
