21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Care Package for friend? on: October 07, 2008 04:32:49 PM
So, a week ago, one of my close friends moved to Kansas, 6 hours away from me. Her Bday is coming up, and I'm going to make her a care-package to cheer her up! I'm not sure what to put in it though! It has to be kinda-light, since I have to ship it, and nothing super fragile! Here's a bit about her, I'd soooooo appreciate help! thanks!!!

She's 14 year olds, loves to shop, DANCE, hangout, laugh, etc. Sadly, I have no pictures of the two of us Sad She also likes volleyball, but not as much as the others. She's kinda a "material" girl. She just got her own bedroom/bathroom, so anything for that would be cool. She also writes poems.
22  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Iron on Patches - Other ways? on: August 11, 2008 02:59:52 PM
So I was feeling thrifty and went to Steve and Barry's and got this Victoria's Secret-esque hoodie, just without any patches/words. I went to VS earlier and bought patches so I could get a free makeup bag. I went to try and iron them on, and they stick, just not well. Like they are going to fall of soon, and only after two wears.

What can I use for them to stay? Can I sew them? Glue them?

(Sorry, I had no idea where to post this. Feel free to move it if I am wrong on where to put it!)
23  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Hemming Denim on: August 02, 2008 10:33:15 AM
I went shopping the other day at Plato's closet, and found the most gorgeous Hollister jeans (only $18!) that fit me perfectly... besides the length. Thre like 3 inches to long. Anyone have any tips to hem my jeans? I'm nervous about messing them up! And I do not have a serger, just a sewing machine.
24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Refurbishing Metal on: July 27, 2008 07:17:29 AM
I got these vintage chairs at the antique store the other day, and they are amazing! They have blue vinyl, and metal, and amazingness. The metal is old, so we want to clean it so it looks better. Anyone know how to refurbish metal?

To pretty! It's exactly like a dress there selling at American Apparel, for 43$. I much rather make this one Smiley

I was really happy Kelly won; she seems like she's going to be the Sweet Pea of season five. But I didn't like the bust of her dress. I really loved Daniels too. I thought Dayne is super annoying! Espcially "Girlicious". He is totally acting like a Chirstian wannabe, with his own different catch phrase

Ah, thanks guys! I'm pretty pleased with it.

It's so pretty! - kinda reminds me of a relaxed style of -that- Marilyn Monroe dress, very glam.

Well done.  Cheesy

That's exactly what I thought when I was trying it on :]

Thanks ladies!

This rocks! I dont know many 13 yr olds (or adults!) that sew this nicely...
Where do u think its too big? From the pics it looks like it fits in a comfy way, not too tight or 2 loose.
If its the waist, can you make a sash or tie a ribbon around the waist?
Either way, this dress is worth way more than the $9 to make it!

It fits a little big in the waist, but mainly the boobs. I'm very small, like not even an AA in womens, so it made it hard to get a bodice that fits properally. Hopefully I grow soon. I'm very excited to wear it in public!
