1  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Zombie Pumpkin Display on: October 28, 2010 11:47:02 AM

I've had this little shoebox full of awesome (those would be Attack of the Living Dead figures by the way) tucked away for a while now waiting for an equally awesome craft project and well, I finally got off my tuchas and did something with it!

I started with a funkin (that's a fake pumpkin for those of you not in the know) that I scored for an extra discount since it was damaged (yay pre-Halloween clearance!).

I drew where I wanted to cut (around the damage) my opening for my scene and carved away. It's times like this I had better knives...or at least a real pumpkin carving kit.

Once it was all cut up I had to do a lot of cleanup. Funkin dust EVERYWHERE!

At this point I painted it black with acrylic paint and let it dry. Since the inside of this funkin had a gloss to it, the paint didn't stick well and I got this really great crackled effect. Not what I was going for, but perfect none the less!

Once it was dry I put a layer of spanish moss in the bottom, placed my figures (with a bit of glue), added a couple battery operated tea lights for illumination and finished it off with a few fake maggots.

In the words of Mr. Craftapus;

"Mrs. Craftapus, your pumpkin is really freaking creepy. I hope you're happy."

 ...why yes, yes I am.

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / RIP Kenmore Mini Ultra...new machine advice needed! on: August 19, 2010 06:23:49 PM
My Kenmore Mini Ultra has finally bitten the dust (after a frustrating three week hiatus at the local sewing machine repair shop) and I'll be borrowing a friend's machine for a few weeks to finish up my current projects but my husband has agreed to buy me a new machine for x-mas. So...what's the new cool machine? I bought the mini ultra after seeing it in Bitch Magazine and it served me well.

Basically, what I need is something light weight that I can move easily, doesn't need to do too many fancy tricks (I most do home type crafts and costuming) but I might want to do quilting someday, it needs to look pretty (my fave feature about the mini ultra) and it needs to come in under the $200 price point. I'd really like an electronic machine b/c I've heard that they typically need less repair.

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Twilight Prom at the Library on: April 30, 2008 03:40:17 PM
My local library is going to be having a Twilight (by Stephanie Meyer) Prom in July and I'm trying to dig up some ideas on what we could do for decorations, activities, food, ect.
I was thinking of painting a big board with Edward and Bella with cut outs where the faces would be so everyone could be them for the night.
Lots of twinkle lights would be good I'm thinking...but that's about all I've got...

I'm calling it tempation....I know real orginal.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof
thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 2:17

In progress:

Mostly finished...but not dry yet.

You can't really tell from the pictures but the hands have a pearlescent finish and the apple is glossy.

I had to take this last one with my phone. My camera's being poopy.

Are you in love with Edward Cullen or Jacob Black? Then this swap is for you! Thats right, a Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse by Stephanie Meyers swap!!! Ive included plenty of time from sign up to send date for you to read any of the books that you havent yet. And hey, even if you havent read any, this swap can be for you! Go visit your local library now and check them out! They are the best young adult fiction books on the planet! And dont even start thinking youre too old for young adult books. Just give them a chance. Youll thank me!

You should expect to be crafting one large, one medium and one small item. You can of course negotiate on this with your partner. I totally understand that this is either a busy time or a really relaxed time for most people, so if you want to do a smaller or bigger package than this, just let me know and I'll try to match you with someone else who wants to do that size of package.

Here are a few ideas to get you started
-Book marks
-Fan art
-Fan Fic
- I love Edward Cullen T-shirts
-Team Jacob Tote bags
-Bellas bracelet
-An Edward Pillow to hug
-Key chains
-Book covers
-Reading lights (yes, you can include store bought items in this swap)

The list could go on forever! For some more inspiration check out
