21  Fancy snail mail for a friend who moved away in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: June 14, 2016 04:39:52 AM
I decided to create some fun snail mail for my friend who moved away. So much more exciting than texts or email! I just sketched it in pencil and coloured it with my beloved copic-style markers ☺️ At the last minute, I decided that the back was too plain and I added an oyster with a gem pearl  Grin

22  Pet portrait! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: June 03, 2016 03:39:44 AM
I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and one of my best friends and training partners is moving away for work for a year or two. She has to leave her loving little dog behind in the care of her boyfriend and it's killing her, so I thought a pet portrait would be a perfect parting gift. I'm not sure that I have even drawn or painted a dog in my life, so this was completely new to me, but I'm kinda happy with how it turned out. I think I mostly captured Nyla's likeness. I can see a few areas where I could have done better, but overall, I'm happy. I wanted to make it pop artish to keep it cool and fresh. As it turns out, my friend fell head over heels for the art, so I'm thrilled!

It was drawn in copic markers on marker paper

I hope you like!

23  Bumble Bee Mandala accent table make-over! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by FoxyBlue on: May 25, 2016 02:01:14 PM
My friend gave me this beat-up antique accent table/stool  last year, knowing that I would find something creative to do with it. It took me a while to get inspired, but I finally did! For some reason, I love painting bumblebees on furniture and I really love mandalas, so a bumblebee mandala was a no-brainer on this little round gem Smiley I was trying to load more pics to show progress pics and other angles but it won't allow me from my phone. If I get to my computer any time soon, I will load them then!

24  Mandala Woman 3D Mixed Media on Artist panel in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: April 28, 2016 05:39:09 PM
I had gotten away from my highly textured art for a while, because, let's face it, I want to try new things every single day. And then I came across some air dry clay at Marshalls and got a burst of inspiration. I bought it, took it home, and got to sculpting. I let the face and the little accents dry (cure?) and then I glued them to the panel, sealed them with tissue paper and glue, and the primed and painted to my little heart's content. I'm kind of happy with how she turned out. I have some ideas for some other ones that I may or may not do. It really depends on my attention span which is really lacking these days. I'm like a ferret on meth. Sigh.

Thanks for looking!

29  Hot air balloon vintage dresser upcycle - before and after - pic heavy in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by FoxyBlue on: May 07, 2015 12:25:08 PM
I found this vintage dresser at the end of my neighbour's driveway. It took me two days to drum up the courage to go and grab it (what if someone saw me? My cover as a dumpster diver would be blown!). I finally did, though. And in the middle of the day. Go me! Cover blown.

Anyhow, for some reason, I saw this one painted aqua (big shocker there) and with hot air balloons on it. So, I got to work...like...right away...because if my husband came home and saw that I hauled in more garbage, he would be pissed. I had to let him know that I was getting straight to business.)

I sanded, I primed, I painted (with homemade chalk paint) and then I got to do the fun stuff. Draw and paint the balloons! And then once I was done that, I would start distressing by sanding and with glaze, and you know what? I  am pretty happy with it! Cheesy

Here's a group of things I've done the last few days (minus the flying pig lol)

And here is the 'before'!!

30  Hand painted fox chair - from ugly vintage to awesome (IMHO lol) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by FoxyBlue on: May 03, 2015 06:05:46 PM
I purchased this old, ugly chair in October with plans of reupholstering the seat part. I even bought some really beautiful, expensive fabric with which to do so. However, so much time passed, and I found little projects here and there that could use that fabric, and lo and behold, little by little it dwindled away to nothing. So I was left to either use scraps of what I had, or paint the seat. I chose to go with the latter...and I also couldn't find any staples for my staple gun, either, sooo...paint it was.

I painted a cute little fox and polka dots and gave the chair new life with some beautiful, fresh, aqua paint!

Hope you like it!

And this is how ugly it was before. Eeeewwwwwwwww.
