1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Resident Evil Swap? on: September 27, 2008 04:01:10 PM
I love it! Its just too cool. Games or films, they are so good for the gore factor!

So... Who else feels we need a swap to pay hommage to them? I'm thinking a week long november signup (possibly the first week, depending on my swap situ), sending in first week of december? They should arrive, provided on type of postage, before xmas.

If not, then it'd be sign-ups early december, sending in the new year.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Christmas is a comin' pullip/dal/taeyang swap? on: September 11, 2008 11:55:16 AM
I know its september. But my brain works OTT. I've been dying to join a pullip/dal/taeyang swap because frankly, I missed all the others. Who feels that a "christmas" themed swap for the dolls would be a good idea? We could make "christmas presents" to the dolls from our own dolls, Be they accessories or clothes or pets.

I'm thinking late october signups with november to make, sending out on the 1st day of december.

I know some may want it to be a whole doll dwap (inc. all other kinds of dolls) but there were more of them that i've seen than purely for these types of dolls, and i would love to make things for these dolls and recieve for my own dolls.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Looking for advice/pattern on: September 01, 2008 01:43:23 AM
Hi guys!

This year is my final year at uni and as such, the final years get a massive blow out collection of parties, all formals, at the end to mark us leaving. Firstly there is the leavers ball, which is just for the leavers, obviously, aside from partners they choose to invite. Then we have the summer blow-out, which i've never acctually been to but its a whole day party from miday to almost 3 AM the following day and thats also a formal but its outside. Then we have the graduation assembly, followed by the graduation sit-down dinner. THEN we have the acctual graduation ceremony.

All of these need a nice dress really, and I'm not one for re-wearing the same dress to parties within a month of each other, and these are all within weeks of each other really.

I've got a couple styles picked out for dresses but the graduation assembly and dinner has gotten to me. I'm trying to find a pattern for a nice dress, similar to the one Hermione is wearing in the Goblet of Fire when she goes to the ball with Krum.

I've had a browse on the internet and can't find anything at the moment, so would really be appreciative if you guys could help.

I'm in the UK, so UK currency sites would be preferred, but if not then don't worry. I can alter patterns also, but only a little bit.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Wuld like to see reverse of an embroidered towel on: August 17, 2008 07:22:25 AM
Hi all.

I'm hoping to embroider onto a towel soon, but before i did, I'd like to see the reverse side of one. I'm interested in seeing how the embroidery appears on the reverse side of the cloth. I've don't embroidery before but its been onto an enclosed fabric so the back wouldn't be seen, so help would be very much appreciated.

TIA, Joy
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Kingdom Hearts Swap? on: August 05, 2008 08:26:28 AM
Who'd be interested in this?

I'm asking cause my brother's sitting across from me playing KH2 on the playstation and mum's playing the GBA game.

I can't find any previous stand-alone Kingdom Hearts swaps, so yeah... interest anyone?
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Crafty Superhero and Supervillain swap? on: August 03, 2008 12:04:39 PM
I've been an addict to super heroes and alter-ego's since I was taller enough to steal my uncles comic books. Since then, I've been obsessed with my own alter ego's. Like, I have a super-hero (not so super really...) ego named "The Amazing Miss Kitty", who was recently made into a poppet in a swap... Since then I've been toying with this idea.

Who would be interested in a superhero/supervillain swap, BASED ON YOURSELF?

It would work by the partners being secret (Maybe) and stalking your person around craftster, finding out the projects they like, projects they dont like, their strengths, weaknesses and other such information that could be used, teamed with the information sent in on the aplication form, to create that persons hero or villain alter ego.

You would have to make a bio for the person, but otherwise, you just would have to make things related to that charater? Like maybe they are into jewellry maing, so they would have a set of laser bracelets or earings, or maybe they have enough bags to hide away an entire evil army, if they were into bags and wallets?

So, its a creative swap based on crafty peoples. Any body interested?
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fave anime(s) swap? on: July 18, 2008 01:41:54 AM
Howdy all!

I've been toying with this idea for a while because I'm an anime-dork and love to get involved with other projects which can incorperate my loves. I know some swaps are to do with a specific anime but i figured if you have run out of things to watch then finding out what others likes would be good too.

Anyway, is there any interest for this? I mean, do people think that they'd sign up?

it wouldn't be until august anyway because I'm on holiday at the end of this month and wont be back til then.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Sit!! - InuYasha necklace and bracelet on: June 19, 2008 02:08:44 PM
Hi guys! I've been obsessed over InuYasha the last couple days (yes, since monday and I'm now on episode 139, almost 140) and it struck me I had nothing relating to the show! Now, when I like a show, I usually craft something up, or buy something relating to it. IE, my Central perk coffee "bucket" for friends, my death note, for death note, Or even my massive collection of pikachu goodies for pokemon Tongue

Anyway, I decided I was going to make a poppet version of InuYasha, but realised I'd need to make his "sit" necklace. Anyway, I started to make one, then realised I wanted one myself. I did a bit of research and picked up some more polymer to make the beads with, and a couple hours later, I had myself a necklace!

I made one too many teeth/claw's so I dug out my regular black beads and made a matching bracelet to go with it. Anyway, pictures! Please excuse the bad quality. I'm in my jammies as its 10 to 10 here and I'm already running on no energy because of a cold. Anyway...

And action shots:

Thanks for looking!

Oh, the black beads took up nearly the whole packet of the black poly clay (there are 35 of them after all) and the white teeth/claws uses 1/4 of a block.
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Teh poppet invasion!! {needs to go on pic diet} on: May 24, 2008 10:53:42 AM
The last couple weeks Ive been getting VERY stressed out over my exams. Well, my happy pill is crafting, more specifically sewwing, and even MORE specifically, poppeting!

In the last 2 weeks I have made 3 poppets for self.

First we have Martin. He stands about... Roughly... 18? maybe? inches tall. As with Voodeedoo, he's made from white jersey. He has hazel-chocolatey eyes.

Collectively, he has 2 eyebrow piercings, a lip piercing, a prince Albert, a nipple piercing and a navel piercing. In reality, the guy he's based on (my sweetie) has also got 3 additional eyebrow piercings and roughly 13 ear piercings. Martin also has all the guys tats in tack, so everything you see, my sweetie actually has.

He has a couple more, but I can't upload them on my image host because they show his anatomy. And he are anatomically correct!

Next we have Jae. She's a miniature version of my best friend. She's probably gonna have more hair put on this bank holiday because I'm not happy with it. Her eyes were at one point cat eyes because I just CANNOT get green eyes. At all. So I fixed them by using my nail set to file off the old pain, then use acrylic to paint them on again Smiley

And finally here are some previews!
This is Noah. He's my brother in law, married to my little sister (there's a year between us). He's got grey eyes but I don't have grey acrylic so the poppet has silver eyes. They were also hand painted but as I cant get the back off these, its painted on the front, then gloss-sealed with brush on sealer. He's only a bit done.

And finally, my peice-de-resistance!

I'm in the I love my poppet rd 2 swap, and TeachingJonah is my (rather awesome) partner. And, recently I acquired some awesome crafting velour. Its a wonderful fabric, and I can't get over how beautifully my machines sewwed this! I'm going to defiantly hold out and continue with time from now on. Cept for the rest of my requests from my friends who wanted the jersey, but even so, SUUUUUUCH A BEAUUUUUTIFUL fabric!!

Anyway, here are links, because This means TJ has to click to see, and then she only has self to blame if she's not surprised. I have warned chuu! If you want to look though, thats okay Smiley

And just because I wanted to share this!

"Help! Rabid Poppets are attacking!"

And this was at easter back home. We went to a local air force museum and I just found this wonderful picture of me and my youngest sibling, my baby brother. He's 3 years younger than me. He's he one I made Piggy Suey cushion for Smiley He always looks like a bit of a spaz I'm afraid, but this pic is defiantly one of my faves of us together. I miss him lots when I'm at uni, because he's one of the people I'm closest to.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / ideas for partners 20th? Mature themes! on: May 10, 2008 05:18:39 PM
Howdy hai!

Anyway, its my partners 20th soon, and for his birthday he's having a piercing in his... you know ^^ Its something he wanted done for a while so his birthday is an excuse, which will be part of my treat for him, along with a couple smaller presents.

Anyway, as my best friend is his half sister, we decided to put together and throw him a bit of a small surprise party.

Anyway, we know his kind of humor is more mature/rude so we've decided on a penis shaped cake with a "piercing". We're going to ice the cake with roll icing and such and make a icing ball to represent the piercing. But thats the cake Tongue  There will be small cupcakes to hold the candles around it, so therearen't many holes in the acctualy penis.

Anyway, we need idea's as to what else we can do?

We want to decorate with streamers/banners etc, but can't seem to keep with the mature theme on that, and keep heading back to the "Lets make this a chaaaaarlie the unicorn party".

So do any of you other wonderufl crafters have any ideas?
