3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Need help with Wedding dress on: July 29, 2009 12:35:42 PM
i think your sister should find a better friend.... seriously, i would never do that to a friend

on the dress's behalf, you could always take a champagne color that matches the sash, and do some embellishing on the halter and down the back of the dress, give it some more color without changing the lines of the dress. small accents that pick up on the lines of the dress, without drawing away from the gorgeous bride.

beading is a great idea, just simple bits, like sprinkling of beads along the back train. \and I'm liking the sash modification. if it draped right down and sat on the train it would looks amazing!

Good luck to your sister! and yah don't share any more information about he wedding to the 'friend'

A friends friend came to me a while back, saying how she heard i was a seamstress, and asking if i would make her a dress. naturally i said sure, bring me a sketch or pictures of what she wanted it to look like, and I would estimate a price.

This is the final project, its made out of Tessa Sating and I'm guessing bridal chiffon. The chiffon... as always was a pain to sew... I always say never again to it... but i always end up doing just this one LAST project... *sigh* I'm doomed to chiffon forever i guess

The Specifics are as Follows:
-3/4 circle skirt of black Tessa sating with chiffon panel overlays.
-Fitted bodice of Tessa sating overlayed with chiffon and embroidered with Greek Squares at the neck and the waist
-Sleeves are fitted to the elbow and flair out below the elbow and gathered, but can be un-gathered to cover the wrist. Embroidered with same Greek squares allong bicep and elbow edges
-Back laces up with a 2" gap

I would suggest getting some little crystals that will really catch the light, something to flash but that will catch the fire colours. even if you did some little patterns allong the skirt with eh glitter fabric paint? nothing too complicated, just small details like curls and twists

It is amazing though! your going a great job!

hehe by a bit too small in the chest i mean it kinda squished my boobs so that they were a bit flatter, and my bra showed at the center front a bit.... Tongue no one complained, but it required me to fix and tug it randomly threwout the night
