31  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: GODDESS SWAP GALLERY on: August 05, 2005 07:02:57 AM
IQ and kat_penguino, I just wanted to let you know that I have k_p's package with me and will be mailing it out this afternoon, finally.  I am SO sorry it's so late, but I hope you like it.  I'm really pleased with how everything turned out.

I guess that just shows how long this has been going on!

Um, what's your NEW NAME?  Address still okay, or was it forwarded?  I do have a couple more journals to send on to you, you know  Cool

Oh, I wasn't criticizing or anything!  I just thought it was funny -- being a blank book, it could go either way until you write in it -- or you could write on both sides!  Grin  One thing I really love about Ezra Jack Keats' art is that it looks like craft, all cut-paper and fabric.  All those lovely pink and blue snowflakes are rubber stamped.  Very cool!  I love his other books, too.

I'm glad you could post pics, because as I think I mentioned, my hubby took our camera cable to work so I can't post any pics right now (and I really want to post pics of my awesome Frances stuff, too!)

One of my very favorite pictures in the book is where Peter is looking in his pocket for the snowball and it's gone (as used on the lid of the box) but I couldn't figure out how to use that picture.  I happened to be in Michael's and saw that yarn, white with iridescent sparkles, and I thought "Oh man, I'm makin' a snowball!!"  Don't you love that kind of inspiration?  Grin  Oh, and btw, I had in mind that the snowflake side of the journal is the back cover, but since it's a blank book, I guess it can go either way!  Wink

heroinechic, thank you SO MUCH for posting pictures!  My husband for some unknown reason took our camera cable to work, so Goddess knows when I'll be able to post any pics of ANYTHING.  Men  Roll Eyes

Everything in the gallery is GORGEOUS!

IQ, I am so sorry I have been AWOL of late.  I'm planning to finish and send off my goddess stuff by the end of this week.

Love and kisses to all (please forgive me!),

I thought I posted that I received mine, too, but I guess not.  SORRY!!!

The reassembled picture looks SO COOL!  It's amazing to me how many different styles and media are represented, which really adds to the effect.  I was putting them together and remarking how the balance was perfect, with the colored ones, b&w ones, ones with writing, etc were all balanced out, and then I realized that must have been becuase LiquidScissors put a LOT of effort into doing that. Duh!  Excellent job.

My husband took our camera  cable to work for some reason, so I can't post pics right now.

I want to pass along, though, that my husband also suggested that because it's 12x12, it would probably fit into one of those frames meant for LP covers.  Haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would work!

Believe it or not, I have BKRenning's journal with me and will be walking it over to the post office in a few minutes, to send it to Silloh_77.  Then I PROMISE I will work on the next one and get them all sent on their way.

Sorry for my extreme suckiness lately  Embarrassed

Package went out to msrockchick yesterday, DC#03912060293000005440

Also, I'm really sorry I still haven't posted photos.  In my new job, I don't have a scanner like at my old job, and my husband took the camera cable to his office for some reason and never brought it back.  I need to just buy my own dang camera...

40  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question concerning ear peircings on: July 20, 2005 08:01:08 AM
I've got a question that I'm just going to tack onto this thread, since it's the same topic...

I had my ear cartilage pierced last Saturday.  It was done with a needle, with autoclaved tools and earring, and the piercer wore gloves.  The piercer was my friend's sister, and she has run a successful piercing business for a few years.

As of yesterday and today, it's hurting constantly, a burning throbbing pain, more than it hurt the day I got pierced.  My friend said that's just the way it is with cartilage piercing.  If I take some Advil, it dulls the pain a little bit, but it comes right back in about 2 hours.

There is no oozing or swelling, and it's only a tiny bit red and warm, not excessively.  I don't think it's infected, just inflamed.  I have been cleaning it with only antibacterial soap and water (as instructed) and I haven't been messing with it, though a couple of times I've knocked it a bit and it's very painful.

I've decided I don't want it bad enough to put up with this.  I don't really like the way it looks, even.  I did the first day, probably because of the novelty, but now when I look at it, it just reminds me of the tags they put on beef cattle.

It's got a loop-and-ball, the kind that I can't take out myself, I'll have to go and get a piercer to take it off with pliers.  The piercer who did it is 45 miles away, and I'd kinda feel bad asking her, anyway.  I decided this morning to find a reputable piercer in town and have them take it out.

Then my husband says that it will only be worse if I take it out, because I'll have an open wound.  I read that you shouldn't take it out if it's infected, because the skin can close up and seal in the infection, but as I said, I don't think it is infected.

Will it heal okay if I take it out now (4 days after piercing)?  It doesn't really matter if the pain is normal and will be okay, because I really don't think I want it now, but do I have to keep it and deal with it for 6-8 weeks (or longer) until it heals and *then* take it out?

Any advice would be appreciated.
