21  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: OMG SURFBOARD!!!! on: August 01, 2008 01:10:02 PM
I was recently in Coco Beach on vacation and at Ron Jon's they had turned a vintage surfboard into a full length standing mirror.  It was very cool.  The mirror was mounted to the top and the fin was part of the stand.

What about shoe paint? (can you still buy that?)
23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Good crafts for a 2 1/2 year old? on: August 01, 2008 10:54:52 AM
I had a bunch of oversized beads (old wooden macrame beads) and long shoelaces that my boys loved to string.  They would make snakes (very scary LOL) or beautiful necklaces for mommy.  That really worked the fine motor skills.  We would make cities from small boxes and milk cartons.  I would tape on paper and they would colour them with markers and they we could set up towns for their little cars - hours of fun. Also I had a roll of butcher paper.  They would lie down on a sheet of paper and I would trace around them and then we could colour and decorate their "Portraits" and hang on them  up on their bedroom door.

Wow you are a natural.  You've added such great details and made great fabric choices.  I can tell that you really enjoyed creating these!

Here's one that is definitely "boyish"  http://www.getcreativeshow.com/Crafting_Sewing_Conference_Center/craft_sewing_seminars/reversible_flap_hat.htm   It's even reversible.  When my boys were little I had purchased hats similar to this, the flap on the back was great for keeping the sun off their necks.  HTH!

Really cute. I love the detail with the little hand holes on the hoodie pockets. You did an awesome job on the outfits!

Gorgeous dress.  I agree that the bow should be in the back so she isn't fussing with it.  I would be cautious about putting buttons on the front unless they are really well attached, don't want her swallowing them.  She is going to steal the show - truly adorable!

Really cute dress!  I made one for my niece once where I used the top of a paid of beat up overalls.  They were red and faded just right.  I had a remnant of a fun blue and red gingham with cherries on it that I gathered and attached for the skirt - loved that project.

Too funny.  I have the same tupperware glass and a ferrero roche box in my bathroom.  Not decorated though - cool project!
