1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: V-Stitch Foundation on: August 23, 2018 10:39:32 AM
I'm sorry for not seeing this sooner.  My crochet mojo has been lacking lately, but a crochet-along might be just what I need.

Thanks, craftylittlemonkey!

Hey there pfirsch, maybe you'd like to join the Crochet Shawl-Along that's currently going on, bet you find some help and encouragement there Smiley.

Have you seen Twinkie Chan's free pizza pattern? It's also done from the point up. Maybe it would be useful for you figuring out the stitches you'd like to use, she does some shells part-way.

btw, the earlier links you posted didn't work for me, I could get to the dark comfort shawl pattern but that was the only one.

I want to make the Dark Comfort Shawl, but I don't want to count out 200+ chain stitches.

Last night, I found my photo tutorial for how to make a V-stitch foundation chain.  It was based on the directions at a site that is no longer available.  Check out the archived directions here:  https://web.archive.org/web/20071029220232/http://www.baycrochet.com/foundatn.htm

I still want to figure out the shell foundation though.  If I figure that out, I will share it here.

I figured it out! Cool

My results are here.

5  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Chocolate Orange Cupcakes on: March 24, 2016 03:20:04 AM
I got really excited about this recipe, but I didn't see any cocoa or chocolate in the recipe.  Are there some ingredients missing?

Orange Cupcakes
Wet Ingredients

    1/3 cup canola oil
    3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup plain soy milk/rice milk
1/2 cup orange juice (I used minute maid though freshly squeezed would be best)
    1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

    1 1/3 cup flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp orange zest grated finely ( I don't like biting into pieces of orange skin so I grated very finely)

You're welcome! Cheesy

Did you ever get a chance to cook any?

Do any of you cook with Cardoon?  I am growing several, and would like to try eating them.  So if you have any favorite Cardoon recipes, please share.  Thanks!

It looks almost exactly like an Artichoke plant.  Here's one of mine:

I don't, but I used to have one growing in my yard planted by the previous tenant and I never took the time to find a real recipe.  I remember Mario Batali cooking some on Molto Mario many years ago.  Here are some recipes that seem promising:

I have lived in the Piedmont Triad for 5 years now (2009-2014 in Winston, just moved to Greensboro in October) and I am still looking for crafty people to meet.  I know they exist, but we never seem to cross paths.

Is there a group that already exists that I could join or does anybody want to just meet up and get crafty sometime?  I used to be in a group back in RI that I met through Craftster, and I would love to find similarly fun people in my home state.
