1  Re: Sweat Shoppe Ornament Swap Gallery! :) in The Swap Gallery by klum78 on: October 30, 2010 09:55:52 AM
I received my elf from Gigglygirl.  She is soo cute!  I need to figure out how to make another so my kiddos do not fight over her.  Thank you!!!

Here she is hanging out above my sewing table with my thread jars.  I don't if she will actually even make it to the tree...   Grin

2  Re: Yarnies Vs Sewists R2 Gallery Sendouts Changed to September 3 in The Swap Gallery by klum78 on: October 30, 2010 09:53:21 AM
I was posting pictures for another swap and I realized I have been a horrid partner!  I never posted pictures of the lovely sweater(!) lapoli made me.  (Yes she knit me a sweater!!!)   It is so gorgeous.  I adore the color and the yarn is very soft.

It's a cropped cardigan made from the Juliet pattern.

A close up of her gorgeous stitches:

Sorry no action shot.  I am hugely pregnant and too self-conscious to post a pic!  Thank you so much lapoli, I never expected to get a sweater.

Also here is a picture of the pants that I made for lapoli's son.  She didn't get a chance to post a pic since she is a new mommy and very busy!!

3  Cotton Candy Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by klum78 on: September 14, 2010 10:53:30 PM

I made this baby quilt earlier this year.  My cousin was having his first baby, a girl!  He and his wife named their little girl after our Gran (Madyson Marilee) and I am so excited about that.  (I miss my Gran!)  I used the Yellow Brick Road pattern on this quilt.  I love that pattern.  I have used it 4 times now.  It works up really quickly and the directions are super easy to follow.

Here is the top as a flimsy:

I went with pink and green because those were the colors they had for bedding on their registry.  I chose an all over stippling pattern because it's quick!  Here is the finished quilt:

A close up of the quilting, the binding reminded me of a candy cane:

Thanks for looking!

4  Re: New Baby & Pregnant Momma Swap Shipping MOVED TO 8/30/10 in The Swap Gallery by klum78 on: September 09, 2010 08:27:52 PM
Hello everyone!  I received last week and have been a bad partner.  I am sorry I didn't post pictures sooner!  I got such a lovely package.

I received a cute outfit for my little girl, a bib, a first aid kit with a red washcloth, a nursing necklace, a few tutes to make my own cloth diapers, handmade vegan soap with a little ducky toy, and a hooded towel.  My kids each received some goodies also.  On to the pictures!

Adorable outfit in my favorite color scheme, orange, pink and brown!  There is a little hedgehog embroidered on the bib, so cute!  I love the hat, you sewing skills are great!

Nursing necklace and tutes:

Washcloth and ducky soap.  (The first aid kit was already in my car.)  A2JC4life explained that the red washcloth is a tradition in her family.  That the kids freak out less if they cannot see the blood from an ouchie.  Such a great idea!

Hooded towel modeled by my son:

Goodies for my daughter (pencil, crayons, scissors, and tutu.  She loved the tutu!):

Goodies for my son (crayons, pencil and super cool colors book.  Both the kids loved the colors book.  Your patchwork is awesome and I loved all the different textures.):

The girl showing off her loot:

The boy showing off his loot (got to love the cheesy 2 year old smile...):

I did not get a group shot, and the kiddos have snatched all their goodies so there is no hope of one now.  Sorry!  Thank you so much for being such a wonderful partner A2JC4life!

5  Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 23 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by klum78 on: July 12, 2010 09:53:08 PM
I have received all my goodies!  Since I have procrastinated in putting up pictures, here they all are:

And some close ups...

Book covers from sloth003 and a upcycled bag from dragonslair:

My mom was visiting and tried to steal one of my book covers and my daughter wants the bag.  She loves how big this one is.

Cards and mini scrapbook from cyndiq:

I love the owl cards.  One of the eyes fell off but I can easily replace it.  I esp. love the thank you cards we need a ton of those around here.  The book is a gift for my daughter.  I will probably give it to her this weekend and we can fill it up.

Monster painting from kwality570 and cloths from RubyCopperhead:

How cute is that moster?!?!  I want to hug him!  The facial cloths are my favorite colors and she made the washcloths to match my kitchen.  Yippy!

Felt food from lydiaharper and necklace from GatorWrangler:

The pop tarts and bacon are awesome, I love them!  The necklace is lovely and much larger than I expected.

Mermaid papercut from and caged heart necklace from thedreamer:

I love, love, love the papercut!  I was really hoping for the Alice one so I could keep it for myself but my daughter is ever so happy I got this one.  It went up in her room right away.  Thedreamer was ever so kind and made the beads in the necklace the colors of my and my husband's birthstones.  So sweet.

Thank you everyone for such a fun swap!

What a great idea about posting on Craigslist!
So I am finally uploading my pictures of the quilt I finished forever ago.  I know the pics seem bright but it's pretty close to IRL colors.  MareMare can back that up.  Although she did see it in the dark...

That is why I did not use a fold over binding.  I dug the polka dots out of my stash.

Details of swap:

If you <3 fabric, this is the swap for you!  This round will be taking place during spring of 2010 (mid April thru mid May).

This is an ongoing swap: Claim a total yard of fabric from the list of the last person who posted, and post your own list in response. It makes a chain.

For each claim, you will get to select a total of one yard of fabric (combined from FQs, half yards or a yard) from the list that is up for grabs at the moment.  In return, you will then be required to make a post with a minimum of eight fabric swatches that you have available for someone else to claim.

The amount of outstanding claims you are allowed is based on your Craftster and swapping status. New swappers get 1 claim, Friends of Craftster get 3, and everyone else gets 2.

Step 1.  Send in your answers to the swap questionnaire to me via PM to get approved for this swap

Step 2.  Prepare your lists and photos of your fabric so that youll be ready to post the list when you make a claim!  Remember, you need 8 different fabrics minimum!  They do not each have to be a yard, but must each be at least a fat quarter. Along with the pictures, you should describe the type and clearly specify the quantity of fabric that youre offering!  For example:

1. "Brown and Turquoise Cotton Batik.  1/2 Yard Piece." or "polyester stretch fabric, any amount up to 1 yard"

Step 3.  Watch the swap thread for something youll like to claim.  To claim, post a reply along the lines of
I claim one FQ of #2 and #6 plus half a yard of #4 from klum78s list.
Then send a PM to the person youve claimed from listing what youve claimed and include your name and mailing address.

Step 4.  Now that youve made a claim, its your turn to post your list of fabric swatches!  If the thread idles for more than a day, please take the initiative to add more selections to your list!  When someone chooses from your list, you have seven (7) days to get the swap package out the door!

Step 5.  If you have not maxed out on the number of claims you have been approved for, you may keep on claiming.  If you have reached your limit, you will not be able to make another claim until one of your partners has received a swap package from you.

1.  You may not participate in this swap until you have been pre-approved by the swap organizer and are listed on the List of Approved Swappers. If youre thinking about participating, go for it and get pre-approved. By doing so, youll be ready to make a claim when you see something you like

2.  You must have ready access to a camera or scanner and know how to post pictures in the swap thread.  Please make sure you have your list (either links or pictures) of fabrics available when you start swapping!  You will need to have a minimum of eight fabric swatches pictured in your posts. You may also choose the option of posting links to your fabric swatches.  If you do that, please make sure that your links work!

3. The width of fabric is expected to be about 45". If your fabric is much wider than this you may - if you want - cut away a piece to adjust the width. An FQ is a fourth of a yard of fabric, i.e. about 18" x 22"

4.  All participants must be willing to ship to international destinations.  Since were only sending a total of a yard of fabric, shipping costs are pretty reasonable.
5.  After a claim has been made, you have seven (7) days to mail your package!  Check out the second post of this swap thread to know when your swap packages are due.

6. Delivery Confirmation Numbers will be required for swap packages that are being sent within the United States. If youre sending a package to another country, or if you dont reside in the USA, please save your receipts!  Remember to send the DCN info to your swap partner(s) and the organizer (that would be klum78!)

7.  It is important to communicate with your partners and the organizer.  You must let the organizer and your partner know when you have shipped, received or may be late!  You are still responsible for sending out the swap package in a timely manner.
8. Please offer fabric selections that others would want to claim.  Try to include a variety of fabrics in your lists. Dont include only Christmas fabrics or only vintage fabrics, etc.
Another good rule of thumb to follow is this: If you're offering a piece of fabric to "simply get rid of it", please dont.

9. This thread is limited to lists only.  Please keep all chatter over here:

10. At the top of your claim post, state how many claims you have made this month, and how many of those are outstanding (i.e. the recipient has not yet received the item).

Claims Allowed (Outstanding): 3
Claims made: 4
Sendouts Not Sent: 1
Sendouts Sent: 2
Sendouts Received: 1

Remember your outstanding claim limit for this round:
Friend of Craftster: Three (become a Friend of Craftster!)
First-Time Swapper: One
Everyone Else: Two

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Name of swap: Swap a Yard of Fabric Spring Edition
Craftster username:
Email address:
Your real name:
Mailing address including the country:
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country? (Must answer yes to participate!)
Confirm that are at least 16 years old (yes/no)
How many fabric swatches will you be required to showcase when you make a claim?
Do you promise to communicate with your partner(s) and the organizer when you send, receive or are late?

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
